Premium Membermy big headed dogs

my dogs have big heads
enormous teeth
they look fierce
tigers would back down

they are both mama’s boys
not frightening in the least
if you are me

Premium MemberBefore We Each Headed Home

Before we parted ways at the bus station, we tenderly kissed.
Before departing for my journey, I realized I'll be missed.
Before we met, we never thought we'd find a love like this.

Premium MemberNew Cracks in Old Stone

New cracks in old stone
Just beginning to show,
Reveals things never shown
Things only one could know

Just beginning to show
A solid surface scrambles,
Things only one could know
Shedding into shambles

A solid surface scrambles
Every chisel brings a change,
Shedding into shambles
In time, it must arrange

Every chisel brings a change
Upon hard - headed rock,
In time, it must arrange
For none can beat the clock

Upon hard - headed rock
Reveals things never shown,
For none can beat the clock
New cracks in old stone.

I Used To Think I Could Fly

She used to think she could fly, she would jump off the couch and it seemed so high. She lost sense of the air but her childhood could not compare.

She went to Saturn instead where she had freedom that was self-led, so more worries no more excuses, no more waiting for a savior to tell her reality is gone.

She took the world into her own hands, she used to think she could fly, she figured out soon it was all planned out so to Saturn she wondered about, she skated from one ring to the other.

Better than the life she knew, but frankly she didn’t have a clue, didn't know wrong from right all she knew is that her life was taking flight.

She felt as if everything she was used to had been washed away and she couldn’t have been in more of a mixture of disbelief and array, a satisfaction that blew her away.

She pondered the stars and this was her newest adventure by far.

Premium Memberomen of the red headed owl

an owl stared at Maya from a fence post
she knew it was a sign from the great father
no ordinary fowl, this one had a red head
there would be a death before the end of day
according to a Navajo proverb

Maya was especially kind to her family that day
wondering who it would be, hoping it was not her son
he had already had a bad week, a mean bout with chickenpox
she thought of the owl all day

her next door neighbor passed in his sleep that night
Maya felt a bit of relief
knowing the owl had never been meant for her

Hard Headed
By: Miracle Man

You’re “more stubborn than a splinter” a friend once said,
Many times, fight finished, I thought should have just fled.
During each angry test,
I wasn’t always the best,
And my mom always told me, Son you have a hard head.

Premium MemberThe Brown Headed Cowbirds

The group of brown headed cowbirds I hope is migratory
I really don't want them staying in my yard
They are parasitic and can be devastating for other species
As they are lazy or sorry or ill mannered or whatever term is correct

They lay their eggs in another bird's nest
That mom or the two parents are not any wiser
And they feed and look after those eggs
Just as though they were their own

However, the cowbird is usually larger
And starve their other nest mates
Cruel, uncaring might be a better word
For the parents of those little offsprings

I know they don't think ahead
Because if they did they might figure it out
If their eggs are hatched, then their chicks fed
The other bird population gradually dies out
Then what???

They might have to go to work....
Then that could be the end of the birds upon this earth

Little Curly-Headed Girl

Hey, little curly-headed girl
Why are you out here alone?
The darkness is no place for someone like you.

Little curly-headed girl
Why don't you speak?
What is making you so blue?

"I am not blue nor afraid,"
She flatly states
With an emptiness in her tone.

"I am forgotten,"
"Pushed down, buried deep."
"You decided you were better off alone."

Premium MemberThis Hippie Van Is Headed South

This hippie van is headed south
To Arizona’s crimson mouth.
We were singing all the weirdo songs.
Righting the rights, ignoring wrongs.

Pulling people in along the way
We pulled a cereal killer in to play
He ate all of the cheerios we ever had
When he left we were all glad

Don’t keep inviting strangers in said maw
We had picked her up in Omaha
The songs continued, we sang the day away
Picking more strangers up along the way.

Premium MemberWhere Are We Headed - Virelai

Let’s check what we missed
in our to do list:
touch kind.
As a hedonist,
we merely exist,
confined.
Never by love kissed,
dark desires persist;
we’re blind.

Let us bear in mind,
it’s time we refined
our soul.
Lest we fall behind,
release thoughts unkind:
be whole.
Our form’s so designed,
God in heart’s enshrined;
our goal.

Playing our life role,
let love we extol,
assist.
Remain in control,
love has no loophole;
life’s gist.
Love doth love cajole,
reclaim joy fear stole:
bliss mist.

Eagerly on my word processing app
My fingers pressing keys Tippity tap
Penning my classic in verse
Thinking the fog will disperse
Yet there’s no classic just absolute cr*p

Hell have no fury like cranial mist
Even the mild mannered would clench a fist
Aghast as my rhyme and meter take flight
Dreading the empty page night after night
Eureka proclaimed… but the notion I sense
Doesn’t take shape for this poet is dense

Must I endeavour in vain one more day
Ordering words in a haphazard way
Rabid strikes of the delete key
Only conspire to defeat me
Now I’m a nitwit with nothing to say

Premium MemberOne Person Headed To Convention

He was the only soothsayer on the plane headed toward Grace.
The day they all got a message that kept them out of this place.
The stewardess asked him are you flying to the psychic convention?
He was not sure now if it was wise, it had once been his intention.

Where are the rest of the empaths and psychics? He asked.
They cancelled their flights this morning. Can you please be masked?
He was a poser and frightened to death now, so he ran off the plane.
Some would have said this was justified, others might call it insane.

Birds Shame the Hotel

As I sit in the bus, headed North,
I chance to look to the West
And I see two birds flying forth
Above and beyond the very crest
Of this the highest building in town,
Making me wonder where they are bound!

These hawk eyed birds are shaming
This serene structure which we awe!
There they go, disappearing
Into the sunset as they soar.
The hotel is just one of those things
They see off in a day's happenings!
