Remember the roots that nurtured you,
The struggles that shaped your soul anew.
Recall your parents' words of wisdom true,
Guiding you through life's journey, old and new.

You were crafted with purpose, a dream to unfold,
A vision to pursue, a story yet untold.
Don't lose your focus, let your heart be bold,
Remember your aspirations, let them never grow cold.

Remember when we were children?
We thought water flowed endlessly, and the leaves
never died.

At the playground, the sand was eternal. We would dig
to the very last grain until spring turned into fall.

Friendship lasted forever, every day
a new endeavor

We played until the sun met the earth, and
laughed until we didn't feel alone

Oh my, why does yesterday feel

Dear Mom

  It's been almost Nine months since you left us  
  and my heart still aches.
  I miss you so much- your smiles that lit up the room, your stories that carried wisdom, and those Reality checks that only You could give.

Grateful Reflections

My mind races at times
dreaming I could sit at a piano and teach my fingers a new language,
or feel the wind on my face as I master the art of riding a motorbike.
I picture myself behind turntables,
mixing music for ten minutes straight without a single hand to guide me.
Life, to me, is about acquiring more

Grateful taste

Feasting heartily with delight
special kids expressed thankfulness*
that God's provisions do abound
as they savour fruit salad bite
with fresh strawberries’ dominion
of glazed honey and creamy milk
beside sweet blueberry cheesecake
midst inviting roasted chicken.

Us be grateful for what?

Let them eat cake
But with no hands 
And a mouth sewn shut
Why us 
Why must we suffer with crumbs
And be grateful

To be grateful when slavery ended
When in fact it was they who started it
To feed us poison instead of the antidote
Then feign confusion to why it didn't work
The world sees you as a victim

Finally, everything was made possible 
From just 'You and I', to 'Groom and Bride'
By our beloved and precious families 
We walked the aisle of the church with blessed smiles.
