The writer’s goblet

Kings drained the goblet
silver and pearlescent.
A sweet odour drifted
coiling heavenward
to feathered cloud spires
where ancient muses chanted
in tongues of mystery
and offered blessed words
inscribed on filigree parchment
engraved with magic images
worthy of few mortals.

presence : goblet

    amid mysteries by which surrounds
        nothing is certain but presence
             infinitesimal eternalising
            energy revolves in space
               spirit defines needs
                   we surrender
                      living arks
                      no secret
                         who
                           we
                            are
                     tao de ching
presence has no form no masks

To know that you know, shakes fragile ground
under what's unanswerable
crying out for the answers
to why this—that occurs
we bridge the gap with
a mythical
solution
put in
charge
here
there
ceding control
to omniscient servitude.

We know we can't master storms nor fate
nor read the grammar of seasons.
So we summon intention
to order the chaos
from the know-it-all
we put in charge,
we can name,
blame and
damn
as
cause
for all the gaps
in our shortfall of knowings.

We see how causes fail, fall away
as our knowledge and learning grows.
With the mystical dwindling
to explain, it recedes
into the background
left to beliefs
held by faiths
yearning
to
be
made
a whole being
spiritually complete.

Premium Member Sipping Claret from a Lismore Goblet

Bereft and alone since love was lost,
she sits in deep shadows
humming the same song
sipping claret from a Lismore goblet

Day and night, in silence she dwells
Time no longer sifts through an hourglass.
Heartache has cast a wicked spell
cursing her into a void of loneliness

She's drawn the drapes,
praying an eclipse will fill the abyss
into which she's fallen
Hoping it will swallow moonlight's glow
keeping it hidden from sight

Entombed as though in a sepulcher,
her insipid soul sits spiritless
on this night, cold and bleak
No spark of life can be roused
in her vacant eyes
as if blood no longer flows in her heart

Naught but darkness does she seek
Only that and to be left alone
away from pitiable stares
She sits in deep shadows
humming the same song
sipping claret from a Lismore goblet

I Knew

I
I knew a priest
Who blessed the best and
worst of us
Saying
Go in Peace
But leave your burdens here

II
I knew a man who bore
His chest
And cursed the heavy verse
That tore his breast
And left him overcome
With fear

III
I knew the sound of
Distant thunder
And feigned the smell
Of distant rain
In dry wonder
And long-deserted days

IV
I knew the phrase of
Remittance
The key to every golden door
And who so swore would
Join the banquet
And thirst no more for
Wine from the golden goblet

V
I knew a woman who
Foretold the fortunes
Of worried patrons
Who burned their aprons
And locked their doors
Vowing this time no more

VI
I knew the tales of
Reconciliation
Leaving the burdens
On the steps for the
Priests to sweep away
In the mornings after

VII
I knew life when
The sun was burning
Hot
In the midst of a
Lush garden

"The Goblet" is a poetry style created by Erich J. Goller.

The Goblet

Light shattered in the night,
pieces glittering, mocking my plight.
A smile that never ceased.
Such a mockery, all at ease.

Truth caged inside the mind.
Goblet in hand, full of wine.
A quiet taste that is, bittersweet.
Broken minds never weep.

Mind shattered, from time to time
Bit by bit, piece by piece.
A smile that lie
May be truer than truth that speaks

Emptied the goblet of bittersweet.
Take a deep breath, start weeping.

- Mikhail.

Our Goblet

Our goblet

We shall lay no longer in silent rest
                      Though whispered words, good-by;
As winter in its dark repose
                               Waits…
Till we drink our goblet dry

Still gaze with eyes that often see
And brush back your hair of gold,
For here wait all illusions held
                      When emotions hurry by

Now gone this day to twilight
                      Then after that to dark,
As recollections from our memories wait
Till we drink our goblet dry

The Goblet

Muses heady impressions flowing
fires a torch of creative passions.
Wine and sweet music evokes lovely
unheard song of extreme imagery.
From the invisible goblet pours
into my brain rivers
of ideas.
