deepest of thoughts running through me
still i couldn’t get to the bottom of yours.
Eternally grateful for all those smiles
which were hidden in the time
in which we are lost.
can we find our sheds
where it feels serene
only to find out
they got the wrong intentions beneath.
Yesterday,
it felt peace.
I sat on the swing and
let my inner child breathe
i let the wind touch my skin
oh this shed felt so serene.
deepest of thoughts running through us
let it through, we will get the end of all the scars,
as we are lost in time
where healing is serene and quiet
hidden in small moments.
Life has its up and downs
We stay steady and bring the lows to highs
Smiles can replace those frowns
So you decide to rise
Life throws complicated loops in your mind
Your energy level is getting low
So you hold on tight and work hard
And you be humble and kind
When you get to the bottom of it
You stay strapped in and go again
I stare into the depths of my sweet caramel colored coffee
Spying a glimpse of the heaven on earth of my childhood dreams
Pretending to not notice my husband is noticing my fascination.
A new development in the clouds of my coffee cup scene.
The fluffy white whipped cream clouds part and an angel appears
She is waving now, attempting to get me closer, so I can hear.
Is she mouthing words?
I lean in to see.
My nose gets a taste of the froth.
What are you doing? My husband asks.
Not sure, I say, but there is another world here.
And I intend to get to the bottom of it.
Quick! Let’s get to the bottom of it.
uncover the answers we seek
aggressively we are being spoon fed
running like desperados
Asymptomatic ; stuck in a circle of chaos
nevermind what we do not know
too much is shrouded in paranoia
inconvenient to look below the surface
now forced isolation, mindset changes,
Earth healing; may be what can free us.
I pull out Pollyanna me because it is my go-to-game-plan.
It usually works. Not this time.
I am too happy.
Too upbeat, too enthusiastic.
I tone it down a bit, and try to get to the bottom of things.
Put on my listening face, throwing my Robin Williams act to the wind.
Let’s go in here, I say, where I can hear what you are saying.
I give her full listening mode.
My face is straight.
I do not add words.
I am concerned.
I give her my most empathetic looks.
She gradually trusts me.
Tears are coming now.
We hug.
I feel better, she says.
I am glad for her.
It is not over, but maybe now she can find the tree
And punch her way out of the brambles of the forest.
The bride had grand dreams of wedded bliss
Sealed at the alter with a pure kiss
Alas the groom
Forecast her doom,
"I shall get to the bottom of this!"
Given he choice between winning the lottery,
And changing my Doctor,
I'd stick with the Doctor I have.
There is only one other I have more faith in than my Doctor,
To get to the bottom of any health issues I may have.
He always orders the right tests,
And goes easy on the pills.
All the money in the world,
Is no good if your Doctor is a pill pusher,
With the belief that being overwhelmed,
Is the same as being depressed.
I shudder to think where my health would be at,
If my Doctor was not my Doctor.
I am halfway through my Chemotherapy,
Mainly due to my Doctor,
Who went to bat for me, to overturn a refusal,
On the request for a colonoscopy,
Without which I would not have even started Chemotherapy.
Scatology IS
a theme we can write about -
I write poop poems
(some folk may prefer this alternative ending! )
Jan's poems are poop
a small testing kit
will plop through your letterbox
it’s simple to do
just three smears of pooh
for bowel cancer screening
it could save your life
with intervention
this cancer can be treated ...
don't leave it too late!
if you should notice
a change in bowel habits
then get it checked out
don't be embarrassed
get to the bottom of things ...
dying for a pooh?

There were many concerns over negative talk about leadership. The news bearers seemed poised to take a stand for 'righteousness'. Then, there was an examination of the communications and corrections. After weighing the pros and cons of possible actions and options to be taken, the consensus was to leave matters as they were, because 'fix it' measures may very well have exacerbated the problem. There was the fear that the suggested cure would not have brought a resolution, and the proposed 'fix' would have been worse than the 'fault'. Let's beware of the 'pricey fix' because it can be downright amusing to come to the realization that there are times when the 'do nothing attitude' is wiser than one that says, 'Let's get to the bottom of this'.

Totally Triumphant King
Was Martin King middle name Luther
Who we understand had been a roofer;
Trouble trying to get to the bottom of,
While living in country all full of love.
What he had seen from roof so tall;
Objects below that seemed so small;
People all full of spirit and emotion,
Confused by the much commotion.
All the things that God does forbid,
Should try to destroy and of get rid;
In Capital sin is continually growing,
King set example and it was showing.

Even though this is not poem of the day,
Be sure and send to everyone anyway.
If you do, then I can forward it to all of
my friends and put on FaceBook.
Time warp
1979 2ST started to broad cast
In the Southern Highlands as AM radio
1999 2ST started to transmit in FM
Although these are land marks
The biggest gamble is yet to come
In 1982 2ST hired Graeme Day
Present day
Or is it Graeme Day
If you are a local you know
There is
The right way
The wrong way
And Graeme’s way
Graeme may not be right
But he is vocal about his way
With a heart of gold
A level head full of information
Combined with a sense of humour
Graeme’s love affair with the microphone
Passion for the Southern Highlands
Cheeky smile
Inquisitive personality
Need to
Answer questions
And get to the bottom of things
Graeme will not let any
Issue or subject shut him up
After doing his research
Boots and all
Like a pit bull dog
He jumps in
And doesn’t let go
Until the truth comes out
People have suggested that
Graeme run for council
But Graeme feels
He can do more good
Behind the microphone
Keeping the councillors
On the straight and narrow
Graeme Day is the voice
The voice of the Southern Highlands
The voice of Justice
The voice of reason
The voice that soothes the Southern Highlands

cake & eat it
bored with the
relationship s/he’s in
but not wanting to leave
the positive aspects,
thinking s/he’s too old to
start again &
been there before anyway---
with a pattern s/he knows
all too well
looming just over the horizon,
s/he takes the plunge,
not looking before s/he leaps &
not wanting to think about
the significant other
who may be at home
wondering, waiting &
wanting to get to the bottom of
the change in
habits (all that are noticeable &
s/he thinks they aren’t),
the change in his/her look
(clearly prepping for somebody
else & the audience at home
ain’t buyin’ that its them),
the change in the craving for
attention from the one s/he lives
with &
of course, the list goes on---
s/he starts to look outside the
cell, refusing to leave on her/his
own,
desiring &
desiring &
burning up
inside with
sheer want, until
s/he comes across
someone that s/he cannot have,
someone who says s/he’s got to
choose between the stability of
boredom at home or
a new trip, entirely,
someone who reveals the obvious in
plain English---
“cannot have your cake & eat it
too.”
She tries to raise her right, hoping to win the good fight
Praying that her daughter is safe and trying to feel right
Never seems considered with the unimportance of everything
If love were items, get a bigger table for what she brings
Her heart and mind are full but inside seeming to disagree
She never asks for anything more than days being pain free
Life was not ever given and she does not expect it will be
But everyone knows life is not meant to be lived in misery
One day she will get to the bottom of what is plaguing her
School and work are diversions in between times to recover
She is open-heartedly candid and singular in a lot of ways
Living her life under the sun looking for any sort of rays
