Bowel Cancer Screening - Dying For a Pooh

Scatology IS
a theme we can write about -
I write poop poems

(some folk may prefer this alternative ending! )
Jan's poems are poop

a small testing kit
will plop through your letterbox
it’s simple to do

just three smears of pooh
for bowel cancer screening
it could save your life

with intervention
this cancer can be treated  ...
don't leave it too late!

if you should notice
a change in bowel habits
then get it checked out

don't be embarrassed 
get to the bottom of things ...
dying for a pooh?

If it wasn't for a simple blood test I would't be writing any poetry right now, GREAT Poem Jan. In the last two years I had two different cancers and because of checking it out early was able to catch both early. love phyl Jan Allison November 26, 2018 at 10:47 AM So glad you have got caught early, so many folk leave it too late because they are embarrassed to get it checked out. Jan Allison November 26, 2018 at 4:23 AM Thanks Michelle, hubby had plenty of those tests as he had prostate cancer and his surgery kickstarted me into writing. When he went for a check up the doc said 'let me examine your prostate' I piped up from behind the curtain ... err I thought you'd removed it ... what he meant was the area where it had once been lol:-) hugs Jan xx

Jan Allison November 25, 2018 at 5:40 PM Got to treat it with humour Andrea - sadly so many folk shy away from taking the test because it is with 'poop' or they delay seeing their doctor if they have bowel troubles and sadly they leave it all too late when if they got over the 'poop' they could have early intervention and be cured:-) hugs Jan xx

Seriously if there's a history of it in the family I would have thought you would be eligible for the test, be worth mentioning to your GP, its true what you say ,it could save your life. Tom. As for the family history I only have what my sister told me - and she lives in la la land and so I never know what is the truth or her fantasy world but it would be worth getting tested - the same for cervical cancer they should lower the age the tests are offered ... and still young lives are lost because they are considered too young to get cancer:-( hugs Jan xx

I've discovered my paternal grandfather and my father's brother and my father all died of bowel related cancers so I need to try and get a test even though I don't qualify for it at the moment as its usually only available if you are over 60. :-( hugs Jan xx
