Back To: Silence

Seems that silence was a good friend.
A friend that kept close,
A friend that prevented: sound.
A friend that prevented: knowing
Silence was a good friend indeed.

My Friend Jo

MY FRIEND JO

Friendship isn’t easy,
It doesn’t just happen;
It takes care and commitment
and a willingness to give of yourself
freely, without hesitation.

There are friends you’ve had since childhood
who know all about you, and you them.
You get together on special occasions
or you hear from them
on Birthdays or holidays.

But the most rare and treasured friend
Is one whom you meet unexpectedly,
you connect with immediately,
who seems to know what you are thinking
before you say a word…
who seems to read your soul .

They sense when you are in need of comforting,
or a laugh when you are feeling low.
They don’t judge you when you make mistakes
but are there to pick up the pieces when you do!

A true friend is a treasure, a rock steady and sure.
That’s what you have been for me my friend
And I know that our friendship will endure.

Friends

A friend is a
flower that sprouted from Earth's hands.
Friends are the
animals on the ground or in the air.
Friends are found
in clouds floating in the sky.
 Friends are people
who believe in all you are.
Friends are there
when all else fails.
A friend is there
till the end of time.
A friend will
hold your hand through thick and thin.
 I'm happy to
have you as a friend.

A Friend Is Leaving Me

a friend of mine is making its way
away from my nights away from my day
i see her waving at me from that distance
but only 'goodbye' is all i can say

a friend of mine is going away
to that distant land where no life can stay
still i see no tears, just a brief smile
she has such a 'good willpower', is all i can say

a friend of mine is leaving me grey
i dont find myself anymore now, happy and gay
her memories is all that keeps me ocuupied
but i cant stop her from going and ask her to stay

a friend of mine is leaving for the ultimate fray
making this debt of happiness harder to pay
still, she seems to be so strong
but all i wish is for success on her way

I once had a friend like you
And I knew her friendship was true
We always had so much fun
Telling each other everything under the sun
Of all our secrets and everything we would do

But you know that friend who was like you
She did another thing that you like to do
She went and told just about every one
Of all the things I had ever done
I was so surprised of the way she was untrue

I bet you didn’t think these things I knew
Would ever be found not even a few
But you see I know what to look for in a person
It’s to know that no one is true with their own emotion
So you see everyone tells someone of the things they do

Umbrella In the Rain

When I was young friend I met you at school,
And found your company cool,
Ignored differences and stayed a fool,
Having a friend was a rule.

In my adolescent years friend I could only see you,
My deepest fear being what I'd do without you,
A day didn't pass without talking to you,
My past, present and future were you.

In my college years friend I saw in you my savior,
I saw in you a survivor,
But you my friend said goodbye like a lover.

Years later friend I met you again and wondered if I could call you one,
Perhaps I had picked up the wrong one,
Perhaps my innocence had failed and you had won,
Never imagined your friendship had intended a pun.

Down life's road friend I met you again,
You looked at me like I cause you pain,
Where is the umbrella we shared in the rain?
Not a friend but a stranger you would remain,
While you enter and exit along life's lane.

Part Apart

Without you, my pal I will be lost in life,
Because you are the person who fills me with life.
Without you , my best friend , I will be black n white ,
Because you are the one who has filled me with light.
Without you, my pal my life will be dipped in vile,
Because you are the one setting my face with a smile.
Without you, my friend, I will not feel complete,
Because when I ‘m with you Bad memories automatically delete.
Without you my friend , my whole system will jam,
Because you fill my life with action n all the boom baam !
Without you my best friend I dunno where will I be ?
For now I smile because you are still with me .

It's Playing Every Place

Brown eyed girl "seems to be playing every place

Always takes me back to that soft beautiful face

The eyes that simply make your heart melt

A smile that shows just how wonderful she felt

On this woman I'd surely bet

She'd be the best a man could get

Only knowing her from the TV screen

To many that might not mean a thing

Yet she's a guest and friend sitting next to me

In her words there is so much to see

She can be silly or very bright

That depends on how she feels that night

She welcomes many with open arms

No need for her to ever put on the charm

Second nature to her it just seems to be

Her giggles send a smooth easy feeling right through me

And of course let's not forget the bar

Where the goodie box and all of her friends are

I guess what I am trying to say

Is you've made a friend til my very last day

If you ever want to chat or talk for a spell

I am here or you could call me as well

So won't you please smile big tonight

You have friends and everything will be alright!

My Best Friend

we were suppose to hang out after work that night.
I was at work when the news came in. It was about 600 P.M.
when they said your best friend got into an accident.
I said what are you talking about? They told me to turn on channel 6.
when I did it all sunk in my best friend,
Had been riding on his wheeler like he always did.
This time it did him in,
He hit the soft shoulder and hit a tree.
He was pronounced dead on the scene.
My best friend of 21, was only a year older then me.
I asked myself how could this be,
Why would God take him from me?
When I arrived home that evening
the room was filled with silence
You could cut it with a knife.
To see the expression on everyone's faces was so hard to comprehend.
A few days passed by and I was sitting by myself in my room.
Listening to the radio, all I heard about was how my best friend was now dead.
remember at that point how much I really missed him.
Beau you are still my best friend.

lay your head on my shoulder
feel free to cry, but know I care
if you shake, I will steady you
if you fall, I’ll lift you

dependability and loyalty
my most valued qualities
never ignoring a friend in need
          always offering reassurance

the nicest thing ever said to me:
“What you see is what you get”
no pretense, no delusions of grandeur
just a friend who has your back

wealth and fame I do not seek
but crushed I’d be
     devastated if I weren’t there
         when a friend required help

You'Re My Friend

You’re my friend by night and day.
You’re my friend forever no matter,
How close or far away you are.
You’re my friend who understands me.
You’re my friend who loves me for me.
You’re my friend, who helps me be strong;
Through stressful and hard times.
You’re my friend who will always be there for me.
You’re my friend who I can trust to be there.
You’re my friend who I can talk to.
You’re my friend who I can be myself and not have to worry.
You’re my friend that I can count on.
You’re my friend that I can hang out with.

I’m so glad god sent me you.
I’m so glad god brought you in my life.
I’m so glad you’re my friend.
I’m so glad I can be myself around you.
I’m so glad I met you.

Premium Member Dearest Carolyn

You were one of the first of a very few
to welcome me here when I first joined Poetry Soup
and although I haven't really kept in touch
you're not alone, I rarely stay in touch with anyone much.
It has no reflection on you or on any of them.
I could never have asked for a more supportive and giving friend
than you, my dear friend Carolyn.
All I can say is that if I've ever offended you in any way, I do have an explanation.
It's the price you pay when you befriend someone who is prone to self alienation,
so I would hope that you not take my absence personally.
You're A Great Friend And You'll Always Mean Ever So Very Much To Me.

Friendship

I fancy we have known each other long before
on some distant land, on some distant shore
such is our closeness of mind and thought,
such are the things together we have wrought.

How quick you are my moods to sense,
to soothe away my stress-and mind, tense
with worry and anxiety
quick to guide me to some calming beauty.

What amazing things we have been thro' together,
braved all manner of trials in all manner of weather,
braved the darts and stings and pains of adversity
supported each other with love and sincerity.

I am truly blessed to have a friend so true
a friendship deep and ever new.
I cherish your kindness and your care
for I know your morsal of substance you would share.
You are a soul truly rare./

Thro' you dear friend the sky is more truly blue,
the roses in my garden more fragrant and of richer hue.
Tomorrows horizon is not so bleak
as your hopefulness and cheery spirit
support us both thro' each week./

My Friend Is a Cactus

My Friend is a Cactus

my friend has an unquenchable need
he is filled with an envious greed
he's green with desire
with an eye to admire
the undeniable fact is
my friend is a cactus

my friend is covered in thorns
his tongue it poisons and scorns
his lust will not tire
he will burn you like fire
the matter of fact is
my friend is a cactus

my friend likes to bask in the sun
of the greatness of things that he's done
he'll talk all day long
bout how he's never wrong
as bitter as the fact is
my friend is a cactus

my friend is a cactus in a desolate sea
of the sands of betrayal and two-faceity
he has no regret
you get what you get
and I know he's aware just what the impact is
but he still chooses to be like a cactus
