Friendlier Poems | Examples

Premium Member Concept of forgiveness

Sitting in solitude,
Tuning into tunes quiet as morning,
Inhaling wind-blown fragrant lilac,
Listening to foreign jelled voice of reason,
Envisioning expanse of horizon,
Thinking of lateral stance,
Seeing through lens kaleidoscopic,
Feeling feathery touch of love,
Sipping from gratitude's silvery cup,
Sifting through weights gone weightless,
Stretching with new concept of forgiveness,

Joy became a friendly royal blue bird -
Friendlier still, it perched upon your windowsill,
You looked, you saw, you understood.
Capture your moment supremely pure.

Premium Member Shining the Light

There's a taste of heaven found here on earth
Stupendous blessings adorning life’s worth
Reasons to smile, as we tread through each day
Spreading cheer to those we meet on our way.

Everyone has troubles, bringing the downs
Remember smiles are friendlier than frowns
Confide in Christ, you can depend on Him
He will answer, peace then resides within.

When your heart’s grown cold, your hand God will hold
Reach out to Him and the Light will explode
Bask in divine glory, embrace the grace
You’ll find a smile will never leave your face.

Light that’s shining through the soul, heart and face
Leads to where we'll share God's celestial place
Somewhere out there, beyond the golden gate
Where lost loved one's and friends patiently wait.

Premium Member Christmas Kwanza and Hannukah

Christmas was always my big season of celebration
Because I taught school, and it was our semi-big break
Unless you count summers, which were terrific at eight weeks
I looked forward to the baking – candies, cookies, fudges, pies, cakes.
The comradery – family, friends, neighbors, even co-workers.
Everyone seems to be in a holiday mood mid December.
Hannukah, Kwanza and Christmas people friendlier than usual.
Exchanging gifts, giving out glittery cards, being a notch nicer.
I think the entire month of December should be celebrated for this reason.

The Small Shops We Remember

It seems like a very long time ago
Small shops lining the streets
In some cases, for blocks
Every one was different
Offering anything you could want
Their people stayed with them for years
Not there one day and gone the next
These people were your friends
You knew their names and they knew yours
But that was a very long time ago
Before malls and superstores
For sure that was a better time
Friendlier and more caring
But it was taken away by money
And sadly, those small shops will never return

Premium Member Why Is The Sky Blue? Asked Jimmy

Why is the sky blue? Asked Jimmy
Fantastic question!
Why indeed?
Why did The Creator
Whether God or Science or a Scientific God
Choose blue
Instead of forest green, pale yellow, or maroon?
Is it because the day seems cheerier
The world brighter
The people friendlier
Due to the color overhead?
A Mount Everest of evidence shows
Humans are happier
Outside
Under the blue.
So, why do we equate blue with sadness?
Certainly, blueberries are one of the most congenial of the berries
And Superman always dazzles in blue.
However, I suppose not all blues are the same.
Midnight blue is complex in color and to contemplate.
Almost all have gazed hypnotically into its majestic fluidity.
Many onlookers discovered hidden inspiration and birth.
But, some couldn’t see past darkness and conclusion.
Blue, sky blue, and midnight blue
Among those shades lies many lessons
Including the fragility of stereotypes and prejudice.
What’s that Jimmy?
You only need an explanation to relay to science class?
Oh.
Sky color derives from air molecules and wavelengths of sunlight.
Is that the answer you’re seeking son?

Premium Member Tired Of Sharing Bad Or Nefarious News

I know that we're all tired of hearing
And sharing bad or knavish news about everywhere
About countless elections that were just and fair
We're absolutely sick and tired about sharing
Too many sad news about crime, corruption
Negative events, racism and discrimination
This is the end of the year. We want all crises
To be over, done. We want the pandemic to end
We're tired and frustrated about the messes
We want to have a better world. Now, we want to send
Solely good news to the world. We want to inspire
We want to see friendlier smiles, more gorgeous flowers
At home, not at funeral. We want to hear about lovers
Not about haters, criminals and liars who conspire
Incessantly. We abhor bad news, fake news, and dirty lies
We want the nonsense to cease and to see more genuine smiles
A new year, a new beginning, a novel dawn is quickly approaching
Hence, let's start fresh and acclimate our lives to the new spring.

People
By
J. A. Long

People are people regardless of
Ethnicity and history
Even in feeble steeples
During the Christmas season
Which is the coldest time In America

People are proverbial birds
In need of proverbial seeds
But are not interested in searching
For those seeds which are at proverbial bird feeders

People are all somewhat different
Some are friendlier than others
And some are more accepting than others
Even at Christmas time-be open to them

No Mistake

Let’s not make this so little mistake,
We don’t have to agree with Marie or Catherine,
To love a girl, she has other assets,
Her tantalizing lipstick, I think so much of her,

We don’t have to agree with him,
To keep a friend, Martin, or Gilda’s
Just watch ice hockey, or football
Just send your car to the next garage

Let’s agree, we don’t need to agree,
With everyone, or the lonely poet
Just look at the stars at five o'clock,
Just fish for large trouts in Idaho,
To becoming friendlier. Or listen to the warm wind.

Premium Member Unexpected Outcome

Lonely robot wanted to make Planet V friendlier
He planted some seeds, hoping they would entice her.
The only female on the planet he had seen so far.
She was a gorgeous cosmonaut from X348 star.

Female came by and said I do not like flowers though
He was sad about it, for he had hoped to wow her so.
But I like you the cosmonaut told lonely robot guy.
She invited him on a date, and his heart leapt to the sky.

Sunny Days

Sunny days are greater days!
Days of absolute peace and kind gestures,
Emanating from the soul within.

Sunny days are brighter days!
Snuggly warmth for the burdened mind,
Relieving the spirit from consternation and pain.

Sunny days are friendlier days!
Lofty gifts from the beaming sun,
Shining its rays on all earth’s entities.

My First Friends

The first thing I noticed, was that people were nicer to me.

After I started therapy, that is.

Sure, I was reading from a script.

But eventually, I started to embrace our conversations.

Becoming less stilted.

So that our words can intertwine.

So that our lives can intertwine.

I don’t have to ask them to include me.

They invite me with smiles and nods.

All I have to do is dive in on my own.

As scary as that seems.

The first thing they noticed, was me reaching out to them.

Which is all they expected from me.

They are friendlier than I expected.

I am friendlier than I expected.

Premium Member Love Stood Apart

Some yearn for the return of friendlier times,
a time when innocence was valued:
and computers didn't run our lives.
But change is the catalyst for improvement:
and time is the crucible that creates change.
Unlike an unshaped tomorrow;
yesterday was molded into permanence
and, thus, unchangeable.
As memories sweeten with age:
images of youth, retrieved from fond thoughts,
are brought to the forefront of our minds.
Life is a series of memories.
And though they're not always joyful:
they are, nonetheless, welcomed.
Unlike the emotions they evoke,
conflicting feelings feel insignificant.
Yet, how we deal with them
shapes the way we choose to live.
Upon opening our eyes for the first time at birth,
we experienced a world filled with emotions;
like trust, fear, anger, love, and hope.
But love stood apart from the others,
penetrating reality's shadow;
and guiding our hearts toward our souls.

Premium Member Oh Maggie Jo Nursery Rhyme

Oh, Maggie-Jo Sparks, my basset hound
The best of the houndom breed
A friendlier pooch cannot be found
You are a grand ol' gal indeed!

Oh, oh Maggie-Jo you should be crowned
Queen of the Canine Race
With every terrier and spaniel around
Bow wowing your noble grace!

My Life Partner

I met my life partner 11 years ago
Initially I thought him to be a whacko
The first time I saw him
He was never a part of my whim
I went out with him in the night
Had to garner all my might
First time in my life was with a guy
And was walking in the lane nearby
Exchanged words and broke the ice
And thus met our eyes
As days flew, he grew friendlier
Spending time with him made me cosier
His conversations made my heart feel light
And thus helped me to get over marriage's fright
Brought rays of happiness illuminating like the sun
Would like to thank family and god a ton
He has filled colours in my life
And I am proud to be his wife.

Premium Member Invisible In the City Country

My hoodie is too warm but I hate bras so I keep it on
In case a neighbor or an Amazon delivery person drops by
I am laughing now
I live in the country
A place people live who do not neighbor
City-country
Much different than small-town country
Where everyone neighbors
We are pretty much unknown to each other
And I am of the age where delivery people
Do not see me at all.
An invisible person after fifty.
My nearest neighbor is eighty-two.
She has dementia.
The next neighbor down only drops by in election years
Begging us to vote her direction
Which we would never do.
I am always delighted, begging her to come in
But she won’t.
Her husband was much friendlier
But he passed of cancer a year ago.
I did not know for ten months.
That is how close we are out here
In the city-country.
Sadly enough.
