I WILL BE HEARD

I am a poet
Not just any poet
But one whose heart
Both feels and bleeds

I write of many things
The rights of women
Corruption, discrimination, humanity
Wounds the world laughs off as jokes

Yet all I write
Slips silent as a black cat in the dark
My voice unheard
Even when my shadow cries for help

Still, I will write
Until my voice breaks through
Until my name is spoken
Not as a saint, but as one who saw the future.

Premium MemberA Kittenish Autumn Afternoon

Two kitty cats, strode up an autumnal. red-leaved covered hill.

The day being cast in loveliness, they went to visit the old mill.

By then it was noon, so they fried delicious fish on a picnic grill.

Then, sauntered home, to snore like royalty, upon a heavenly, comfy, velvetty-covered, window sill!

Cat-Like

The cat has your bone structure,
it turned up yesterday
looking like a thin velvet panther
its yellow eyes brimming with afterglow.

It is on my lap now
its claws padding my thighs,
tail whisking under my nose.

Unlike you,
the cat does not go out every night
to screw around -
I had it fixed.

Angle

I often go for the scene.
I want the story intertwined,
In the angle of the bottle.

The whole mood,
Of the narrative,
In the contour.

And it is the angle
And the contour
That keeps me in.

Like a hungry cat before its food.

Premium MemberWisdom From An Old Cat, revised

So, the Old Cat and I were talking this morning.
We were in the kitchen, no one else was awake.
I was enjoying my first cuppa and he was grooming.
We came to the conclusion that Life Is What It Is:
Run like mad from the oncoming freight train,
And never neglect a nice spot of sunshine.

cleaning the dust

Cleaning the dust never ends,
There is always a girl in a wardrobe,
Who does not let go of your hand,
There is always a girl in a museum
who does not look at Matisse and Cézanne,
There is always a girl in a garden
Who steals apricots and oranges,

Cleaning the dust never ends,
There is always a cat on a pink chair
Who yawns seeing you happy,
There is always a blue cat in yellow sheets,
Who waits for someone to stroke him a hundred times,
A young cat in trouble who thinks
to the mango that you covet.

Cleaning the dust never ends,
A wild orchid asks for water and love,
A wild orchid is still waiting
May a poet change his life and color,
It is enough for Matisse to comb flowers
To remove the dust from the world, that
Grapes in the fruit basket.

Premium MemberWish I had Used My Coupon

I received a ten dollar off coupon for my birthday
It said I could even use it on a ten- dollar item!
Today I wished I had used it
when I saw the hardware store had gone out of business.
At this time of year there are usually outside plants all around the store.
Nothing was there, the signage was down, the windows showed empty shelves.
I wondered what happened to the cat who used to hide under the outside plants.

Premium MemberGAME OF CAT AND ROBIN

my russian blue cat
static like a statue
on the sun-warmed
window ledge

laser-focused eyes
fixate
on the gum tree
leaves tremble
then still

shrewd cat waits
wet nose
smearing the glass

a robin’s fleeting shadow
darts across
a pool of sunlight
diving into
the center of the light
then swooping back again
in a blur of motion

my cat pounces
chasing the robin
around
the carpeted floor

over and over
he paws at
the imaginary catch
but each time
elusive robin
slips away

Premium MemberTreachery

A gray cat, stealthy crept,
tall grass his tactic cover.
Was he a Robin Hood?
Nay! More apt a Robin's
demise.

A conqueror to his kin.
A devil to wings that fly.
My truth, may be your
everything? Or, just another
Seducer's lies....?

River

A baby jumping at the river
Grandmom puddling the stones
The cat saw the incident
Get a bunch of dry branch to puddle the river
Basin floating
Cat puddling
The baby was safe
Grandmom was happy
Giving the cat a thumbs up
What a happy story to tell
Amen

Premium MemberCatastrophic Fuse

I am so inflamed a blizzard is falling,
every toxin taken in I’ve been stalling.
Ice rains as magma plows the ground,
a lethal storm arrives without a sound.

Laying the land to waste in an instant,
it is best to let a disaster stay dormant.
There’s nothing to grasp once it is loose,
you touched off a catastrophic fuse.

Weather you could never prepare for,
should have thought about that before.

With fury next to impossible to diffuse,
be careful the words that you choose.
This pattern of rage is not intermittent,
it will do what it does never quite spent.

Frozen daggers wield a temper unbound
such icy eyes a Cat 6 is now crowned.
Uncontrolled smite is now overflowing
devastation is all that is left standing.

Premium MemberMorning went all wrong

morning went all wrong
sideways and inside out
there was a cat hiding somewhere
possibly in the coffee pot

a goldfish slid up through the drain
landing in the sink face up,
I could not find a wristwatch
and Daddy’s pocket watch had stopped

One shoe? That’s all you got? I asked myself
I was snarly and surly and not happy about school
You don’t have to be said my mother
It is Saturday

I went back to bed

Miss Universe

My cat Princess is wonderful.
That day, she watched Miss Universe on television
Saw the world’s most beautiful woman
You could see it…she thought she was the most beautiful
She donned her most beautiful gown
And that night, at least for me
She became the true Miss Universe

Premium MemberWoke so very proud

Woke, and proud

Now the KKK , ok that's uncool
killing nature? that's so unschooled
Charlie Brown my Hero
he stood for humanity, not D Cheney
have you ever met a cat loving the KKK
between me and you
Bugs bunny would say no way
more woke than any coyote

coyotes
loving genocide, starvation and
a plenitude of banned books
not woke just a narrow minded joke

be woke
not a racist fifty year old bloke
