Jumping quickly
out
of known security
into
animation, suspended
above
hard reality
in
momentless time.
Gliding smoothly
through
unknown thoughts
past
unlimited dreams
near
unlived fantasy.
Landing finally
midst
broken dreams
of
desired wishes.
Reflecting quickly
upon
what could have been.
Knowing it never was.

The silence in this room has never been so loud
God knows that I've paid for my sins
Even the ones that you don't know about
I shut it out from the world,
The demons scratching underneath
Calling to me like a siren song
So desperate to be free
I'm flying, I'm falling into temporary insanity
Wind smacking me as I fall through the leaves
Fighting the demons that can't let me go
I just want you to know
That this freefall is the push I need to let go
The wounds will always heal, at least that's
what they say
But sometimes those wounds that are left behind
are the ones that cause the most pain
I just can't shake it, no matter what the change
I just feel the darkness grip me again
Pulling me in

Standing on the edge I look down
On the horizon a town
Thoughts and feeling
The wind is healing
No more fear
My time is here
I step out
How my heart does shout
Falling yet I feel I'm flying
No thought of me dying
At me so fast comes the ground
The wind is the only sound
All thoughts leave
No time to grieve
In mid fall
I stall
Hovering above ground just below
I pause
Hope there is no flaws
For a moment in time
The world was the perfect rhythm
So many thoughts on which to chew
Then up I flew
My soul grew
Took the bungee then handed to the next in line
But felt so fine
Walked away with a smile
Thinking I had you fooled all the while

Here lies Molly Ferguson St. Marie
She fell out of a big oak tree
Landed on her head
And soon she was dead
It was her last tom-boy spree.

On the edge
I close my eyes
A deep breath
All the things
I ever wanted to do
Done it all
Now far behind
The unknown
Lies beyond
Beckoning
Enticing
A step forward
Free fall
When I know
You are there for me
Uninhibited fearless
I let myself fly

Reason For Raising and Praising a Razon
we should be praising
perfect reason for raising
a dried up raisin
bitten by beagle
raisin was head on needle
have been broken hearts
puzzles always have their parts
horses forgot carts
Prime rib left overs were great
with leftover mashed potatoes
and creamed peas with carrots.
Marry Magnificent Christmas
Mary may have heard
after each word had occurred
Trump we know is nerd
may have missed the boat
more time do have to devote
had stopped in Shallotte
what if I really had known
that it had been caste in stone
my skills I would hone
always enchanting
peas and carrots planting
ended up recanting
barely could hear tone
had hardly heard baritone
at had caste a stone
cast was a big blast
under ware showed at half mast
by him we went past
Gave Vaccine to a Holstein
had been awful mean
he created quite a scene
with his ruptured spleen
Promising production
Nash needs no introduction
full of rambunction
trump drank a litre
on brink started to teeter
to wind a two sheeter
I am sure this is all that
you can stand by now.

Free Fall to Liftoff
for my father, Paul Ray Burch, Jr.
I see the longing for departure gleam
in his still-keen eye,
and I understand his desire
to test this last wind, like those late autumn leaves
with nothing left to cling to ...

for Beth
These cloudless nights, the sky becomes a wheel
where suns revolve around an axle star ...
Look there, and choose. Decide which moon is yours.
Sink Lethe-ward, held only by a heel.
Advantage. Disadvantage. Who can tell?
To see is not to know, but you can feel
the tug sometimes—the gravity, the shell
as lustrous as damp pearl. You sink, you reel
toward some draining revelation. Air—
too thin to grasp, to breath. Such pressure. Gasp.
The stars invert, electric, everywhere.
And so we fall in spirals through night’s fissure—
two beings—pale, intent to fall forever
around each other—fumbling at love’s tether ...
now separate, now distant, now together.

poetry is more than written words
plunging down a river or mountain stream
they are conscious thoughts pouring out of the mind
creating, shifting, and changing
words spilling out nudging, prodding, coaxing
gushing down like a waterfall
falling into the current below
seizing an image

I am done screaming for help
Long time broken out of my shell
Only to face off with hell
I've got nothing more to sell
Nothing to lose
Nothing to prove
Man, it is so high up here
Fear of heights is the biggest one here
This mountain
might not be high enough
Looking down, I'm thinking of
Is this going to be
A long kiss goodnight
I'm already over the edge
In a free fall flight down
The jump was quick and swift
Crack! went my bones on impact
Hitting the ground with a thud!
Snap! was heard from my neck down
I was sure as dead
Did I succumbed of my wounds?
I thought
Closed my eyes for effect
I awoke in the ICU on a respirator
Then came the trip
An old fellow past me with a drip
He told me that now son
If you wanna do something
Do it right

The time long awaited is here
Careful planning in put in action
Our goal is now in reach
Casting off we begin
Now we are free
Now we are triumphant
Look there what is it
It’s coming right at us
It going to hit
Look out
Isaac picks up the apple
And thinks

A hot tear
Skydived
In a free fall
Rolled
Accidentally stumbled
Splashed and smashed
Forever hushed
Crushed
