Written words by James Edward Lee Sr 2026
Marigolds fair as doilied silk
Woven on trails of summer trees
Patterns flick like confetti blown ,
And splatter along huffs of breezé
How petals dance in rhythmic sails
To gather 'round marbles and clay -
A montage waking dawn's embrace
With imprints of floral display.
And basking through a dusky lane
Golden laced pinpoints blend with night ;
When blossoms rise beneath clouds' glide
Their patchwork... a nature's delight!
Floral sencha tea
steeps with soft cherry blossoms
in my China cup.

Miss Franny Floral Faerie USA
was seen in my wheat field yesterday
She held a protest, standing on my hay
Wanting the field planted with flowers before next May
I was not invited, said my cousin, Farmer Jay
I happened to see her, and I thought “what the hey?”
Ran out there to get a picture of Miss Franny Floral Faerie USA.
She said, “If you are going to plant wheat again, I cannot stay.”
Soft green wing,
Finger-tip retreat,
Leaves fold tight.
Along verdant hills , May crowns daffodils
Where floral glow spills, as evening moon fills
Till scent of air chills... while robin blue trills,
A tune that instills rhythm from lush mills!
Petals dressed in frills, reel like yellow quills
Oh blooms on my sills...their beauty thrills ,
Moist buds of ponds, rills ..flaunting nature's skills!
I find that flowers are not complicated
Although they all have meaningful names
When you approach a flower
There is no reason to ever explain yourself
I find that flowers are uncompromising
What you see is what you get
No need to push past a facade
There is no reason to protect yourself
I find that flowers are not intrusive
They lay no claim to your soul
You are free to just be
There is no reason to unfold yourself
I find that flowers are artwork on the earth’s canvass
They supply our world with a colorful finish
A reminder that you are amazing and imperfectly complete
There is no reason to ever diminish yourself
Haven’t done this in a while,
haven’t been waving or drowning.
The body is in continuous bloom
with a concerning fragrance.
But, there is nothing to stop you
from taking it in your arms
and telling it, you are good.
I am floral.
Boisterous.
Petals come to mind.
But also-
The weird hat in the back of my closet.
Gives me photos.
Mirrors that aren’t supposed to be mirrors.
Being free like a coupon.
Floating like a puddle.
I am floral.
The smell is like the smell of a speck of sand.
Nothing.
I am floral.
Petals are things you can pluck but can’t do much about.
Some types of things grow back.
Some never stop.
If a flower were a speck of sand, it would last.
Has a smell, but is small enough.
Small.
Anyway.
I am floral.
The mirror backs away.
Beautiful flowers in garden
One after another
Colorful and pleasant
All beautiful in sight
All are unique and wonderful
Brighten up the garden
Flowery paths wildly intersect rich, late summer;
While beautiful flute music plays in green trees,
Amidst song so rife, without drumrolls of thunder.
In butterscotch ease, drift humming, honeybees.
While beautiful flute music plays in green trees;
The exotic blooms send pleasant fumes, far away.
In butterscotch ease, drift humming, honeybees;
With huge, tossed hibiscuses, in crimson disarray.
The exotic blooms send pleasant fumes, far away,
Their dazzling colors, the world's latest sensation,
With huge, tossed hibiscuses, in crimson disarray.
The summer blossoms love every color of creation!
Their dazzling colors, the world's latest sensation,
Amidst song so rife, without drumrolls of thunder,
The summer blossoms love every color of creation!
Flowery paths wildly intersect rich, late summer.
floral profusion
delicately intense
autumn perfection
ceiling-to-floor stone fireplace,
uplifted with Mother’s Day gifts:
amidst the painted flower trio,
sunny bright and purple mums,
yellow glad-iolus, ma-genta roses
in red-ribbed vase, hearth-right;
and butterscotch lantanas, on left…
now in a planter on the porch,
inviting hummingbirds and butterflies.
