Red light
Shining bright
Such the sight
Twirling bright
After a toothless fight
Sticks and pucks
What's a Canuck?
Many asked
Listening to the Islander perform winning tasks
Potvin was the man
In demand
Waiting for John Sterling’s winning command
“Islander Goal, Islander Goal”
Coming from the ice that was cold
Trophy lifted, five times in a row
While Rangers bowl
Throwing strikes
John Sterling manned WMCA’s mike
Replacing Simone
Who was hanging up his phone
Wanting to hear
Nassau Veteran’s cheer
Near
Hofstra where the Jets train
And never complained
Since Broadway Joe
Headed to a Hollywood show
Knees were saying, “time to go”
Sadly, Stanley Cup was too violent for regular routine TV
And that is why we appreciate John Sterling’s decree
When Trottier did his thing
And Chico was the goalie King
Who was there?
John Sterling’s enthusiastic flair
Bringing victories home
For those alone
Enjoying the Cinco mayo championship run
Entertaining and fun
Spring is coming
I can feel her light
Falling, becoming
Stars glisten at night
Spring is in the air
Healing winter’s bitter
I say a silent prayer
Stunned by her glitter
Spring reminds me
There is precious hope
Whatever may be
His love will help me cope
Spring is writing joy
Through my life
Never quite so coy
As she heals my strife
Spring is the song
That sings her praise
Her praise is never wrong
She knows Him who’ll amaze
Spring is coming soon
And I’m so excited
She pours out her moon
So my soul is delighted
The Spirit of joy
Is felt by children
Getting excited
For Santa to come
Everywhere they look
Decorations seen
Soon Santa will be
In thew shopping mall
Children wrote a list
To give to Santa
For their Christmas gifts
That they hope to have
Children are anxious
To meet Santa Clause
Sit upon his lap
Telling him their list
The gifts they would like
For the Christmas Day
Autumn’s first colorful leaf
leaped at my feet
Though I am no longer excited
by bold promises, false pretexts
eager goldfinch
gather at my birdfeeder
~ a family feast
AP: Honorable Mention 2025

Entering a singing contest would fill me full of woe
I’m not saying singers would mock me as I would go
But I am not a crooner, as every relative doth know
I cannot carry a tune, yet I adore music so….
The Voice and American Idol are my favorite shows
I love the excited contestants and music that flows
Entering a singing contest is not for me in any way
But I love classical music and folk music every single day.
JULY 2023
Hazy, Rampant, Hammering
Foggy-headed, I must be lazy enough to put just the right effort in.
It drips down and stains the pore.
My disease is acidic, fatal,
And the way that your alkali sense draws me in ...
How I'd beg to neutralise once more.
But the ants won't push against my unmoving tyres.
And anywho, isn't this against your morals?
Vivid, Violent, restless still
I'm floating away, I'm just really not lazy enough to notice it.
I'm ruining your favourite dress,
Your uniform for every non-uniform event.
Please don't let me soak you.
Please disappoint me again. Or you could prove there's no shame,
Because either way, at the end of my every walk, I fear that I'll be the same as my love for you when it isn't to see your uncloudy eyes,
But I'm not being lazy enough.
And I'm trying so hard to not try hard,
But I don't think it was ever really enough.

When the world loves you
You heart beats to a musical tune
You like you whole body
You have engery that soon Take you to the moon
You feel every sunbeam Hit your soul with esteem
Your smile light up the dark
You frolic in the park
Each bite of your daily meals
Hits a ravishing tongue in the feels
You have a great day In each and every way
You can't not be brought down
You love for your friends and family to come round
You wake up in the morning with a spring in your step
You could be patting your beloved pet
Hugging sends vibes to your soul
You feel young you will never grow old
The way you walk is effortless
The forest is calling you to de-stress
Your morning coffee is divine
You take a sip of the finest wine
And think about how great it is To truly be alive
too excited to sleep
school starts tomorrow
I have new notebooks
fresh and crisp
I cannot wait to open them
they have a new smell
that I adore
it always feels like a new beginning
every year is a new year
an opportunity to make new friends
I cannot make them at home
right?
I am too excited to sleep
tomorrow I get to wear my new clothes
and my new shoes
my hair is adorable tonight!
school tomorrow.
I cannot believe it
Summer always lasts about two weeks too long
I try to close my eyes, but they will not close.
I have joy in my heart daily now
Living on a farm, that could house a cow
A cow has not wandered by, but I have three dogs
There is room for sheep, and a couple of pot belly hogs
My husband knows that in order to keep me around
He has to let me have pets; their presence keeps me sound
I also bring home flowers, bushes, vegetables and trees.
It is a joy to plant them in the summer breeze.
I am an artist, and must paint every day to stay up.
Lying on all three sides of my chair is a sleeping pup.
I paint cartoons that are fun in every way to me.
Nothing keeps me as fresh as a new fantasy
I cartoon dragons, castles, faeries, and pirate queens of the sea.
There are fifteen hundred canvases, painted by only me.
I also love to write, and toss down ten poems onto a page every day.
These things are what keep me enthusiastic in a cheerful way!

remember the delight,
reflected in wild hearts, eager and excited,
by moonlight
soul gently kissed,
by roaring fires of joy, lighted
heart’s mist
observe
hopes invited,
verve
remember the delight,
by roaring fires of joy, lighted
verve
No snow on the ground
Houses decorated
Inside and outside
When the darkness comes
The decorated lights
Lit up the brightness
The darkness at night
Children are excited
Waiting for Santa
To come with the gifts
On the Christmas Eve
They will wake up early
Excited to see
What Santa brought them
