4:09:05
A familiar time which plays on repeat in my mind
Get the opposite of high, but I don’t know why
Cutting pounds but not just my weight
I’m not trying to over-exaggerate
But I think it’s time to say goodbye.
Being alone isn’t the same as feeling it
I just wanna stop, I just wanna quit
They say all it takes is just a call
Down the rabbit hole you fall
Running down an empty hall
I cant seem to recall
If it’s really worth it all
Looking out the window, all
I hear is a loud rainfall
Beats me staring at a wall
Or downing pints of alcohol
Not afraid for if i fall
The flowers I’ll receive by haul
I’ll feel better overall
4:09:05 is my call

This run ain't been fun for a while now
Energy for it all been ran out
Beggin myself to let go of this doubt
N start bein what I always been about
Knock myself off this damn cloud
Kuz its lookin like its about to storm some more
Ya know sht bad when chaoz got me bored
Being sober is more like a chore
The chemicals I keep in my brain cells
Got me convinced this reality I'm in is forreal hell
Its like my luck done hit the driest dry spell
Forgot how it feels to feel well
If I ever did know...
.....dazed out
Wondering if this whole sht
Is a fckd up sht show directed and written by
...who tha fck knows
Gettin kicks outta every low blow I catch to tha dome
Steady fckn with my mental state
Don't even try to act like im tryna exaggerate
but the plates overflowing with anger, pain & hate
when all I ordered was peace, love & fun
with some lust mixed in to hydrate
Keepin it super real
At this fcked up rate,
I dont even gotta contemplate
Why everyones walkin around all irate
While im just slowly strolling around
In this fcked up drug haze

Miss Friday,
is desperate to avoid being forgotten
She is a caring and kindhearted woman
If someone asks her age,
she will answer with a lie (of course)
It is not a crime to tell white lies
To turn one feather into five hens is to exaggerate
- a trifle into a big deal
Never pluck feathers
We all feel that the weekend is too short
time flies as a arrow
She will enrich your day with humor
never doubt that it will please you
There will be no performance
Dance your way, let worries fade away
Life will be boring without her ...
admit it

When parents tell their offspring
the definition of a fling
they also include
the story that may sound crude
about the birds and the bees
and Tarzan from the trees.
Children claim that they exaggerate
When they elaborate
on the story
about male guts and glory.
Some kids need them to simplify
and not to horrify
the tale
about the sperm whale.
The teens who love arachnids, sports
and shorts
quickly understand
when their parents demand
a ban on joyriders
and jumping spiders.

you cannot be a snake, mommy said
so I slithered under the dresser
proving that I could
what kind of snake would you be? daddy asked
he likes to humor me,
he is better at this than mommy
I am a cobra, I said, with a hiss
a slithering, sloppy, sneaky, snarling cobra
I added the alliteration so I could exaggerate their s sounds.
my grandmother said “let her be a snake”.
“A cobra,” I corrected her.
she is okay with being corrected.
“I do not like it,” said Mommy.
that made it even more exciting and fun.
Cobras like to consternate, confuse and confound.
I slithered away seeking a tasty mouse.
thrilled with my new role.

It rolled off the tip of my tongue
clear and easy
sounds good to say
I used it in conversation
to hear what people would say
it's something cool and groove
something you say on a tuesday
for a date on friday
or a magical Saturday night
I exaggerate the sound
carried out to ah soothing slur
what do you prefer
Don't it sound groovy
supper or ah movie
how about some dancing
the nights right for romancing
let go out on the town

He said he was bringing her plaid flowers today.
Pandas exaggerate, right? I said to Aunt Fay.
Not this one, he is pretty level-headed and true.
Okay, I said but plaid flowers make sense to you?
I am just saying he has been totally honest, she said.
He comes over every morning at six to be fed.
Why don’t you stick around and you can see for yourself.
Panda walked in that moment and put plaid flowers on the shelf.
Where did you get those? I asked him, with enormous eyes.
Down at the Chinese market, he said. “No big surprise.”
They have everything down there. Give me a request if you want.
I liked him immediately, but went with him to market so I too could hunt.

When there is a torrential rain,
A puddle starts to form
And quickly turns into a lake,
Which shouldn’t be the norm.
Okay, I do exaggerate –
It’s closer to a pond,
Yet it’s too deep to wade through
If you want to get beyond.
This giant puddle (mini-pond)
Is on my walking path
And though I shouldn’t be surprised,
It does incur my wrath.
So I must then retrace my steps
And go a different way,
Which is exactly what I did
When on my walk today.

It's straightforward enough to be the Cheshire Cat grinning.
A stroll in the park to smile when you're winning.
But when you find yourself irked and cursing the weather.
You're unconsciously encompassed by the Fundamental Attribution Error.
A theory purporting it's mostly all luck.
Like getting that pay rise, or our wedding ring stuck.
Carefully eluding unnecessary confrontation and hate.
Then declaring a million and one times you don't exaggerate.
Attempts to train the mind not to be bitter or pious.
A desperate evasion of this confirmation bias.
Blaming others for misfortune and ourselves for the good.
A rephrasing of stereotypes to see things as we should.
Whilst rejoicing achievements is admirable and just.
Take a second to pause, exhale, reflect if you must.
Content to live in the moment. This moment right here.
With freedom of cognition. With our mental pathways clear.
To be kind, where possible, in all circumstances.
A non-judgemental stranger throwing uplifting glances.

I make a perfect dry martini,
I read and write and speak Français,
All my suits, and shirts, and shoes are custom-made.
I own a Porsche and Maserati,
A house on Acapulco Bay
With scores of floors of marble tile that's all inlaid.
I have a staff to fetch and carry,
My every wish is their command,
If I drop things, I just leave them where they lay.
All I need do is snap my fingers,
Someone's always close at hand,
And they look after Señor Jim in every way.
I host the most elaborate soirées,
They're in society's upper niche,
On my birthday and, of course, on New Year's Eve,
Where the hoi polloi and high-born
Mingle with the nouveau riche,
And they're all the better for it when they leave.
This all may seem a bit pretentious,
And I don't mean to self-inflate,
For wealth and fame, of course, do not equate with happiness,
But in my dreams my alter ego
Will oftentimes exaggerate
And make seem real what, to be sure, is pure "b..s".

Courts oblivious, on blissful high,
Poor plaintiffs on a long wait die,
The system still stays put
On same age-old input,
Mothballed, the pending cases lie.
Perfection, a vague search,
Totter in wobbly lurch,
Load of cases on deathbed lie,
The price paid for delays sky-high.

Happenings |11.05.2023| justice
Poet’s note: Research reveals that some of the oldest cases are pending for over 60 years, almost a lifetime of an average plaintiff. One might feel, a less than perfect justice is better than the perfect one that takes such a long time. A limerick here tends to lament the pathetic realities. One may note: to bring home its point a limerick tends to exaggerate and so need not be taken on the face value. This is the fourth in the series: Your slip is showing, Milord.

Do we ever get to expose the real person inside?
When the layers of sub diversion and control create our disguise.
Do we ever stop toning and shaping our feel of what’s wrong or right?
So many interpretations we are forced to yield darken our skies.
Do we ever know love and it’s true power without filter?
Pretend, exaggerate, give up on the straight line, accept to live off kilter?
Do we stumble until we fall?
Or, does true love simply out live us after all?

I
In a land of crime, pets too are killed
A goose was struck by an upset Ouma
I saw it in a fenced yard, life bleeding ...
It came close to home, with Kuiken
II
Kuiken is Afrikaans for baby chicken
But my name for my pet is Kaalnek
Her variety, subspecies, unfeathered neck
She learned to sleep in trees, after month1
III
The next day, her freedom ended (by me)
Not cat food, victim of domesticated cats!
In her cage (hok) she recovers from a wound
That made me cringe: skin on head, out!
IV
No cat, dog, or combination got Kaalnek
She is with her half-brother now, 'locked'
Though more lives than cats, I dont exaggerate
But my hero and I will not tempt fate

Like a sheet of mercury glass
reflects light imperfectly,
I pass life’s mirror,
capturing distorted vignettes,
experiences faded on the edges
or, here and there, heightened focus
amplified the ridges of our years.
Funny how perception can exaggerate memory;
our mirrors may stand side by side,
but the image is not identical.

Wine Opera
When he found out that she was going
to divorce. He made an attempt to
ask the woman if someday s
they could
marry. She smiled and told him
marriage isn't what you might think
it is. He told her, married people
often exaggerate their marriage
by storing and exaggerating details
and covering up affairs and encounters,
so that, they can seem super, or Godlike.
Seeding dry places and praying for rain
can be quit zealotious,he told her, he would like
to define each word, and
create the understanding of the importance
of there togetherness. He didn't want children
and wished to marry her a be happy, sharing
there time together
with friends and family.
building and creating and loving.
She told him if it's Gods will I suppose
and again maybe I understand you, and you
wish to understand me by trying to succeed
at what my former couldn't. We better see if
you and I consorting before my devoice
is a breach of fidelity.
