A Puddle

When there is a torrential rain, A puddle starts to form And quickly turns into a lake, Which shouldn’t be the norm. Okay, I do exaggerate – It’s closer to a pond, Yet it’s too deep to wade through If you want to get beyond. This giant puddle (mini-pond) Is on my walking path And though I shouldn’t be surprised, It does incur my wrath. So I must then retrace my steps And go a different way, Which is exactly what I did When on my walk today.

I so love your rhyming tales of everyday situations, Ilene. If that happened to me, I doubt it would even occur to me poetise it. I can look in my head and see all kinds of oddball scenarios but rarely see the poetry in the seemingly innocuous. You do this so well that it has me telling myself to just damn well LOOK! Smashing.
