Just As It Is

Resist the urge
to exaggerate.
Don't overvalue,
don't overrate.

Okay to fall short
of the goal you've
been aiming at
all along.

Better to be
almost right
than to be
overly wrong!

Social Maestro

I'll instigate an incident
Exaggerate significance
Initiate a conflict
Purely form of interest
Consider me an *******
Although I'm considerate
Enough to let you speak
Until you prove that you're an idiot

Costume Party

spineless uniform
tapered, buttoned, pressed
exaggerate long lines
colour pops, the eye
is drawn

attention call out
redirect, speaks
whisper or yell
constantly consistently

focus shift distract
detracted attraction
stitch, wash, cut
dye the parts
rip, reassemble
connect to conquer

Human Vessel, Daily 14

14:Passages plot themselves on maps
To get you somewhere.
Pour your soul into a hollow vessel
For the archaeologist to find.
To replicate each moment’s sound
Will never bring satisfaction
perhaps exaggerate boredom
Definitely annoy reactions
Because the vessel's form is unnecessary
There is no catch-all for past rains.

Underpacking

UNDERPACKING

packed only one
of
a kind

not expecting leaking
nor
quickening of rain

no moist path
of
cottony softness

his wife packed
three
six packs

with stripes and flowers
polka dots
bikinis, briefs, and grandma-size

I exaggerate, he
brought two
one to hang

near the bathroom sink

A Tooth

Henry has a tooth, forsooth,
And he’s as proud as punch,
Although he’s not exactly
Eating pizza for his lunch.

The most amazing thing to me
Is that he knows it’s great
And though I am his Nana,
I do not exaggerate.

It’s just his first, so there’ll be more
With which to bite and chew,
But everyone’s excited
By this baby tooth debut.

Talking To a Protective Sister

Be careful
When talking to a protective sister

If you say the wrong thing
Exaggerate even the slightest
This could happen....

Point him out she will say,
beginning the hunt, primed and
ready to tear him apart for you

You will be mortified that you
embellished the story as you watch
him get flung through the air and hit the wall.

Vignettes

Like a sheet of mercury glass
reflects light imperfectly,
I pass life’s mirror,
capturing distorted vignettes,
experiences faded on the edges
or, here and there, heightened focus
amplified the ridges of our years.
Funny how perception can exaggerate memory;
our mirrors may stand side by side,
but the image is not identical.

Myskillsdegrading

Days are warm
Nights are cold
Yet still I feel the heat of the Sun
Scorching my thoughts into dust
The words I pen are a soup of poetry
Your mailbox is bloated with my metaphor
How do I begin to exaggerate this notion
I'm drowning in the depths of who I am
Frankly the ocean is deep with tormenting emotions
And you give me 10 limits of poems to send?

Exaggerate Not

never forget not to exaggerate,
          don't overvalue, don't overrate;

doing so is, in fact, telling a lie
           and it shows poor judgment you can't deny;

for truth truly disdains superlatives
           and downright detests deceitful motives;

it is more prudent to fall short than long,
to be almost right than be overly wrong !

Hey

Nobody wants to hear it
when it's just about you.
Don't exaggerate
the effect of sympathy.
That's arrogance.
They want
pleasant tales of nature
with muzzy but congenial morals.
They want
tales of common spirit,
sympathetic, without faces,
token journeys through
foreign lands, told
like fairy tales.
Nothing should be
about you but
the passing breeze.

Facts Are Facts

Nature is beauty

And its being destroyed

Our world is in crisis

And I am not trying to employ

Fear for the sake

Of being sensational

That's not me at all

I am not trying to exaggerate

I simply state the case

That a fact is a fact

You can't deny that

The same as climate change

No matter what you say

It's real in everyway

It's your ignorance

That leads you astray.

Love Poem No9

Love Poem #9

This lavender sky
should smell of its colour,
or lilac,
or rose,
not of this rotten fish
stale beer and human piss.

This drawing dusk
should smell of spice,
nutmeg and clove,
and fill me,
sated;
not this emptiness,

longing for the scent of you.

I exaggerate.

You are within me, your
self
exuding from my pores.
I taste you on my skin,
as I dream
of just your tender kiss.

In the Midst of Woods

In the midst of woods

I was walking alone

In a mood of sorrow

There was no one to follow

The winds blowing past me

Makes a whistling sound

The growing darkness haunts me

As I feel the presence of someone around

I got stuck up in my way

As the negative thoughts carried me away

As my Mind began to exaggerate

My heart started to accelerate

In fear of getting lost away

From the woods I ran away.

Of Hyperbole

This house of hyperbole,
Does defy credulity,
Let's all exaggerate,
Aim to manipulate,
"I shall love you infinitely!"
Sounds a normal hyperbole,
"I never got over you!"
Am I a drama mama too?
You want me and need me,
But you don't love me,
Is that called two out of three?
Or more hyperbole?
Why answer such questions?
I'm always open to your suggestions,
As usual for you and me,
In this house of hyperbole............

In

In

In spite we conquer and in love we hate
In silence there is a question and in noise we hesitate
In laughter we imagine and in tears we extrapolate
In wisdom we solve and in ignorance we exaggerate
In good there is hope and in bad we degenerate
In memories there is no doubt but in the future we annunciate
In depth there is substance and in shallowness we adulterate
In our souls we are strong but in mind we cannot communicate.

My Brother

My brother reprobator and oedipus.
Nimble selictor, nisus impersonale muss.
Improvidence, goggle eyed or irrational,
Instigate inane dowdy, kinsfolk isolate fuss.
Paramour or inamorato objurgate carlish,
Impune contrivance, obfuscate gobble tush.
A partner inauspicious or inartificial indigent,
Not same as before lumber or lurcher hiss.
Irremissible offence fidget formidable lead,
My parents exaggerate emotions I ever miss.

Water of Life...

Snowcapped mountain
in subtle melt
the slow beginning drips
which trickle forms
into the downward flow
of twisted turning bends
from a whisper to a roar
minor drips exaggerate
waterfalls cutting might
where large rivers swiftly
push ahead new life
continuous journey onward
a neverending cycle
for as it returns to the ocean
taken back thru evaporation
only for the snow...and the rain
gracefully returns earths pleasure.....

Love Might

It rolled off the tip of my tongue
clear and easy
sounds good to say
I used it in conversation
to hear what people would say
it's something cool and groove
something you say on a tuesday
for a date on friday
or a magical Saturday night
I exaggerate the sound
carried out to ah soothing slur
what do you prefer
Don't it sound groovy
supper or ah movie
how about some dancing
the nights right for romancing
let go out on the town

Isms

we all believe in realism,

some agree with Darwinism,

have all life forms evolved,

most problems unsolved,

some see life through a prism,

erupting into barbarism,

killing of young and old,

In such ways that leave us cold,

Communism capitalism fascism,

defined ideologies of demonism,

tribal leaders our minds they Mould,

to exaggerate their paper gold,

let's remove the shackles of skepticism,

our outlook must be optimism.

Alone To Cry

People have no clue how it feels to cry until they are the ones crying and no one cares
that you cry.Heartache left to linger at your heart, pain and misery, why torment me? my
life I wonder if it matters. Destined for life to never changed but why exaggerate? I
can't help but to cry although I can't say why, maybe it's just the way I am. It makes
you wonder if life is really worth living for but you as well as I do know the answer to
that question.

A Puddle

When there is a torrential rain,
A puddle starts to form
And quickly turns into a lake,
Which shouldn’t be the norm.

Okay, I do exaggerate –
It’s closer to a pond,
Yet it’s too deep to wade through
If you want to get beyond.

This giant puddle (mini-pond)
Is on my walking path
And though I shouldn’t be surprised,
It does incur my wrath.

So I must then retrace my steps
And go a different way,
Which is exactly what I did
When on my walk today.
