Eternal Sleep
Written: by Miracle Man
12-19-2019

Twas not destination that he pondered deep,*
As he lay supine upon his bed that night.
But journey that would take him to eternal sleep,
This alone seemed to trigger his fright.

Some feast on life leaving hardly any waste,
While others face death with plates barely touched.
On youth or looks, your time isn’t based,
Nor influenced by what your hands have clutched.

* The vehicle that drives you
is of lesser importance than it's destination.

THE ETERNAL SLEEP

On the meandering course laid on the landscape of life,
journey began with promise to reach the vale of flower.
The voyager chasing remote butterflies in dreaming air
flew elated on the feathered wings of ecstasy awhile.

On the uphill path at the edge of hazy horizon obscure,
tired of futile pursuits I don’t know what lies far beyond.
The dying rays of the departing sun I see in twilight hours,
in my hollow sky a weary bird is keen to fly to its final nest.

The fading stars appear behind the falling curtain of night,
and crossing the clumps of gloomy cloud covering the moon
their distant shimmer descends as the last glimmer of dust.
On the frayed fringe moonbeam dances the dance of death.

The rhythm of this celestial symphony is now rippling in me
as I wait for the final call from the owner of abode of bliss,
where tormented soul will rest in depth of deathless silence
and on the deified lap of death I’ll sleep my eternal sleep.

Premium MemberThe Bringer Of Eternal Sleep

Death is the bringer of eternal sleep,
where time slumbers in everlasting peace.
And yet, still, close friends and family weep
when a loved one's earthly connections cease.
And as memories cause tears to increase,
a fractured heart honors the soul's release.

Death is beautiful, not an ugly thing:
one never feels thirst or hunger again.
And you will become one with everything,
instantly freed of any fears or pain.
There'll be no anxieties to constrain,
for a soul without limits, has free rein.

Your soul will ascend from its mortal guise
into a spiritual dimension:
the soul lives on, although the body dies.

Being souls is a point of contention:
yet belief can overcome dissension,
Death's the soul's only means of ascension.

Death's an Angel, assigned to turn life off:
you need but believe: let the doubters scoff.

The river flows, carrying her
Away from earth out to somewhere---
Bird-music groans as harsh wind blows-
Carrying her, the river flows.

The gulls above cry ,that for now
My fingers shake like leaf to bough,
Beneath the melancholy sky
That for now. the gulls above cry.

This eternal sleep, when nights grow blind
I long for all that's warm and kind…
Thirsty for life, Mom's mine to keep
Nights grow blind... this eternal sleep.

Defying death, tears on the brink
I may collapse, or faint and sink.
To struggle on with every breath-
Tears on the brink, defying death.

Beautiful is she, moonglows end
Upon my faith these thoughts depend--
On braving time though I foresee
Moonglows end, beautiful is she.

WAITING FOR ETERNAL SLEEP

The journey began with sunrise promise
On the garden path of beautiful life,
The flowers bloomed, destiny in disguise
Brushed calm colors on the drab times of strife.

The path at edge of horizon unclear
I traveled for long, exhausted and thirsty,
The music of the setting sun I hear
My heart plays the tune of melancholy.

Daylight would disappear for night would fall
Your stretched arms my sleepy eyes could see.
I’m tired, it’s time you hear my final call,
Come, to the abode of bliss you take me.

No more promises I now have to keep,
I plead, put me to this eternal sleep.

Eternal Sleep

Eternal sleep! cozy and might,
the morning in Eden's bright,
canopy of happiness, sieving joy's light.

Touch of freedom, kiss of esteem
pumping all back , fair redeem!

Slit on throat, kiss of blade
A garland around the nape.

Fall to rise,again to wise.
Torn soul soon be knit,
in the new world, perfectly fit.

The path is scary, not the work of fairy
Alas! the only lane,
jigsaw of hatred, blame game.

But the escape is forever,
Heard of heaven and hell, live never.

Once gone, gone for eternal
no breath again, no beat to mingle.

Though might, thou art full of vice
mislead the weak, to a path bleak.

So disperse i should, clouds over my sanity would
baffle my mind, Lord! strengthen one more time.

Dear courage you're the guide,
'Eternal sleep' run away and hide.

I'm the man who can build fate,
can ask the slumber to wait.

Eternal Sleep

Eternal sleep! cozy and might,
the morning in Eden's bright,
canopy of happiness, sieving joy's light.

Touch of freedom, kiss of esteem
pumping all back , fair redeem!

Sweet,sweet sleep,
never on this land again, to rise and weep.

Slit on throat, kiss of blade
A garland around the nape,
driven by sorrow,poison in marrow.

Fall to rise,again to wise.
Torn soul soon be knit,
in the new world, perfectly fit.

The path is scary, not the work of fairy
Alas! the only lane,
jigsaw of hatred, blame game.

so erase the life theory,
create a new story.

But the escape is forever,
Heard of heaven and hell, live never.

Once gone, gone for eternal
no breath again, no beat to mingle.

Though might, thou art full of vice
mislead the weak, to a path bleak.

a slit, not the sole cut of life.
So disperse i should, thick clouds over my sanity would
baffle my mind, Lord! strengthen one more time.

Dear courage you're the guide,
'Eternal sleep' run away and hide.

I'm the man who can build fate,
can ask the slumber to wait.

The Eternal Sleep

I will close my eyes
and a last more sigh
now no more dreams
just the truth will gleam
you will be with me
and I will be with you
till the nights are dark
and oceans are blue
let my heart shout
and my lips be sealed
let my emotions burn
and my body freeze
this mystic journey of mine
will go deep and deep
for all that i plead

Eternal Sleep

Sleep comes to her as she closes her eyes
From this sleep she shall never wake
Peace she brings to those she hurt
Happiness comes to those whom hated her
Pain comes to those whom loved her
In this sleep she dances with her father
No man cries for her heart
No child cries for her love
 Not one person is sadden
Eternal sleep is what she is doing
Forever gone from all she shall remain
Memories of her erased from others minds
 Nothingness becomes her past
 No future shall she see
 Sleeping for ever she does

Eternal Sleep in Peat

At least a thousand years
since he lost hope
His features spoke, not of
the strangling rope
that robbed his breath,
but of a sleep, as deep as death
And peat preserved
is evidence, far sharper
than a photograph,
not yet invented,
his face, the same as one
who rested on his desk
to pause,
and not the drama, of
a flight for life,
(for crime or sacrifice,)
that brought him ,
an endless sleep
in peat

Suzanne Delaney

This poem is based on an image from real life that affected me profoundly.
When I was in Dublin a few years ago I saw a 1000 year old man
in a glass case Museum Display whose body had been dumped in a peat bog with a rope around his neck. Some say a sacrifice or an execution. I was amazed
to see the features were just like any 50 year old male you would see today. Most of the likenessesof people before photography was invented, were painted or sculpted images
and although I wouldn't doubt an artist's eye, I was never sure they could capture the real image of what people looked like back then.

Eternal Sleep

I hurt so badly
The pain is deep
I cry at night
I cant sleep
my stomachs knotted
I cant eat
my chest feels heavy
I cant breath
I feel desperation
I feel despair
I feel im slipping
No one cares
I take this blade
the cut is deep
I rest my eyes
eternal sleep
