A Pale Leaf's Eternal Sleep

A single pale leaf Letting go of autumn’s branch Falls upon the snow Sinking in the quiet earth Sleeping through the endless night. A leaf letting go falls sleeping forever. Inspired by: Quietus, 4/26/2026, Tanka

It still amazes me that we can construct a new line from the past 5 lines and have it fit the poem perfectly.

It took many takes before I could make it fit. Thanks so very much Alison!
