As Simple As ABC

30-11-2023

If life was as easy as ABC
I’d see
To it I know my alphabet
But if I don’t get
It I’d turn to numeracy
And with accuracy
Memorize all but if I still fail
If I can’t nail
Either I’d have no choice but to learn
How to earn
My stripes in life
Which would make me come alive

Won To Free

WON TO FREE

I was never mutch good at speling;
I faled evry speling be.
And wen it kame to mathmatiks
You koodn’t kount on me.

I yoost to start of oh kay,
But, arfter won to free,
My mined wood go completely blanc
And ide be all at see

But now I’ve solved my problems;
It’s as easy as ABC.
I have a calculator
And spell check on my PC

Premium Member Interloper Came On Too Strong

“I suggest we break the ice”, the interloper said.
I began chopping with a snow axe, and she laughed.

You must have been born with a silver spoon, she threw out.
I threw the snow axe at her; irritated she had called it a spoon.

She ducked, as cool as a cucumber.
I was irritated now.

“I’ve got your number,” she told me.
I had no idea how she had gotten it.

“I was not born yesterday,” she added.
I knew from her wrinkles she was not lying.

“This is as easy as ABC,” she said. “You are transparent.”
I was not a happy camper now, she was getting under my skin.

“Hold your horses,” I told her. “You are coming on too strong.”
“You’ll be in hot water if you continue egging me on like this.”

She laughed. “Let me put a bug in your ear,” she said.
“Hot water is something I do best after falling through a hole in the ice.”

Premium Member A Letter To the Dmv

Standing in line at the DMV
Waiting to renew my license you see
I thought it would be easy as abc
But I didn't know they'd have a surprise for me

They said "You owe outstanding fines"
And told me I should have read the parking signs!
I said, "this must be a mistake"
They insisted that payment I should make

They said my license they'd suspend
Which irked me to no end
 Soon the manager came
To solve the problem was his aim

He checked the computer then said to me
"Mr. Barrett you owe these fines you see"
I knew then my license I would get
 Because my name is Barnett!

Diary Uh

through a dreamhole i saw a hybrid of scorpion and human and he shot me with his arrow and with his hook pulled me out of the meeting house just to eat me raw and spit out my mercury
i once chanted bloody mary in the mirror three times trying to die but then a cocktail drink appeared in my hand
from what i've learned growing up, satan knows all our names and has made a good effort to pronounce mine 'cause i can hear it when i sleep, clearer than the day i'm missing
i've learned to shoot wishing stars and tongue my bites and take medicine of my own taste and
i've learned that saltwater is thicker than blood and i'm closer to the ocean floor than to the sky i’m fed everyday
i followed a trail of pine needles in Bali and locked myself in a fantasy
i spit my teeth out into grit and then
i wake up gritting my teeth, each one paid for with coins and hexed by a fairy
sometimes things that seem hidden are just as easy as ABC
just act natural, just act natural

Loving Her

It was like two people in different world
Then they was a beautiful girl
Her hair had many curl
Her eye's was like a guiding star
With one smile she could have stopped a war
But she had one downfall
It was her desire to love
Her heart was wide as the sea
Deep as it could be
Loving her was easy as ABC

Then their was a tragedy
So she locked away her heart
She's a princess in the dark
If you try to love her from the start
It would be harder than you thought
She was a new light
One that would shine so bright
Loving her would be right
But unlocking her heart would be a fright

Simplicity

Am I suffering from illusions?
Have I gone crazy too?
Oh hell there is so much confusion
I just don't know what to do.

Loving, living is now so complex
Friendships so hard to brew
Sincerity, once a reflex
Kindness has gone askew

You are no longer certain
Who you are talking to
'cause that lady behind that curtain
Could have been boy Stu

Can't we make life simple?
As easy as ABC,
Can't we just go for a ramble,
Or a trip to the sea?

One Day I Was Doubting

It still makes my heart melt,
Every time we touch,
I only wish you felt 1/2 of what I felt,
Then I would'nt hurt so much,

No matter how much I tell my heart,
Everything is gonna work out,
It feels us drifting apart,
And fills my head full of doubt,

Every part of my being,
Wants for us to be okay,
But my eyes just are'nt seeing,
Things like back in the day,

I know life is'nt a fairy tale,
And things are always better when new,
But something made us quickly go stale,
Its just that your love for me never grew,

Blame each other we won't,
That to either of us would'nt be fair,
Its as simple as 123 if you don't you don't you just don't,
Easy as abc if its not there its just not there;

I'm handling it better,
Since I finally reached a conclusion,
Now the truth fits like a snug sweater,
And I no longer have the illusion,
The one where we'd always be together,

And become husband and wife,
Happy and loving forever,
For the rest of my life,
                                            Leah Howes
                                                2008

You Are My Alphabet Girl

You are Cute with a capital C
And Gorgeous with a capital G
You are beautiful to me
You are my Beloved with a capital B
You are my Darling, with a capital D
You mean the entire world to me.
You are my alphabet girl you see
Every letter from A to Z
Loving you is as easy as ABC

Heaven's Gate

You said that life is not as easy as ABC
That it might burst anytime like a balloon
You told me everything I should learn
But you never taught me how to let go.

You were the river where my life flows
You were the smile that lights my face
You were the voice who told me
]not to let go and just keep going
Now you are the soul; I’m crying for

As you strum your guitar
And sing your favorite hymn
I reminisced our days
And all the dreams we gathered

The leaves have withered
But your flowers boom eternally
For you lived your life happily
So I hope you rest peacefully

May the portals of heaven open up for you
Thought this would make me really blue
But then I know you are in a safer place
Where you would surely receive God’s grace

Let me give you one last kiss
It hurts to end up like this
But it’s not yet my time to go
For you were summoned all alone

But before you go
Promise me one last thing
When my invitation arrives
Please wait for me in . . .
