all directions from the same place 
don’t lead to the same place
  that’s why you’re a butterfly
     and I, a moth, but one family
         the abandoned lawn
            but I care about

Going up and down  head spinning around and around 

Scream from within but on the outside I make  no sound 

Going in and out  and going around the bend 

Having a heated conversation with my 
Imaginary friend.

Where you headed 
When your on the run
Staring down the barrel 
Of a loaded gun
Blue lights in the rear view
Life’s looking dim
Push the pedal harder
Escape the unlawful grim
No money for food
Thieving at night
Jacking and selling 
Will all my might
Dealers and creatures
Of the night
Sidelying shadows 
Oh what a sight
Sun creeps up

Directions

I can be longitudinally challenged 
at times so please forgive my sense of
direction and all I ask is you give me
some latitude.

Cardinal Directions

No nearer nighttime.
In my own arms I have nurtured
the sweetest flagellation.
Moth to inferno once more.

Silver septum skin.
She snaps from divine touch
to sputtering projection.
Roll credits where credit is due.

Everything ends eventually.
Her sanctified smile shines
through tears, floods, inebriation.
Just in time for happy unhappy hours.

Where was wonder?
I will delicately segment and untie
her endless memory speck by speck.

Asking Me For Directions

Where is the twisted human club?
I did not know, so here’s the rub….
I saw them crammed in a cranny down the street.
Their petootsies were showing, it was not sweet.

Now when people ask I send them there.
But they left years ago, without a care.
I still like giving them a wild goose chase.
Serves them right for asking

Up or down... High or low.
Sometimes we wonder which way to go.
    Whether searching the cosmos, or the ocean floor,
    The question remains, as to which door.

North or South... maybe East or West.
The horizon will give the compass a test.
    While morality may guide the geography,

Great Energy

What great energy
existed
way back then
and what
or who
thrust it out
in all
directions
with
unimaginable speed
How
was that energy
transformed
becoming matter
gaining mass
Was it
by design
determination
destiny
or
random behavior
of the elements?
Carbon
oxygen
hydrogen
acting
interacting
in all things.
Forming bodies
heavenly
earthly
Creating
evolving.
Giving us
life
giving us
home.
Dropping us
down
in the
Great
Rift Valley
to start
our journey
to somewhere
or nowhere.

Carefully down the towering show
Of those puffed cloud stairs

Proceed to pass the nearby hilltop’s forested grove,
Where you might glimpse the hidden homes
Of some remaining urban fox and deer.
Then, turn left and leaning your body slightly back,
Go halfway slowly down the steep
