Dialled Poems

Premium MemberBird, Bug And Tree

Imagine your awareness
extending into other forms,
a bird, bug or a tree -
what it would be like
to feel the world through them,
immersed in whatever
is taken in, to assume
the very essence
of being them.
Ponder what is happening
behind the bright, wide eyes
of a dog when it looks up
and stares at you - question
whether there is nothing but
a rudimentary, dialled down
awareness flickering
in the shadowy circuitry
of a mind -
or is there, somewhere
within, a presence
of the indivisible,
the same that is inside me
and the bird, bug and tree.

Premium MemberDeath Of A Hero

Just because someone isn’t wearing a bandage or shows no outward sign of illness doesn’t mean that they are not.
Quote by poet.

Sam lived two doors down and kept to himself, some thought him strange,
I found out he'd been in the marines and was suffering from PTSD, he always acknowledged me with a nod and a faint smile but Sam rarely spoke a word.
I felt sorry for him as he lived all alone with no one to share his problems with.
On one dark December night before Christmas I was walking home from work,
I was fifty yards from home when three thugs appeared and surrounded me,
"Your money and phone" one said, I froze on the spot and reluctantly put my hand in my pocket, then out of nowhere Sam appeared, baseball bat in hand, he swung at one of the thugs who went down with blood pouring from his nose, one of them then lunged at Sam and stabbed him repeatedly, Sam collapsed and the cowards ran off, I quickly dialled 911, “I’ve called for help" I told Sam, he looked at me smiling and said ,"Peace at last" then his eyes closed and he was gone.

Premium MemberThe Bath

I finally took a bath
   this morning
After all day yesterday
   Sunday
With the taste of you
   still on my mouth,
The scent of you in all
   the rooms
   and on my couch.
Ache inside my belly.

I dialled; you said
   "Hello," and I hung up,
   yet commanding all day
Phone to ring
   or doorbell, perhaps
   the slow hiss of tires
On gravel
   and watched my mind
Replay a scene
   that must have been
   destruction.

It's quiet in the dark of
   country town.

I took a bath this morning.

Black Purple

BLACK PURPLE

Just one dialled and received call
Two hearts connected through a good network
From one single kiss; they stopped being single
Good timing made way for good scenes; censored
Walls failed to keep the secret safe; leaked
The confidential became official; registered.

He followed his heart
It led to another heart
She gave in everything to make it work
Pessimists prophecied the usuals; words
Prophecy gone wrong, they turn mute; people
Now, they relax to see if the end will be justified; wait!

The only thing they know is that only them know
Rain fell, sun shined, wind blew; thunder struck
Still, sealed remained sealed as everything remained the same
She admired his strengths; fell in love with his weaknesses; choice
He endured her imperfections to enjoy her perfections; patience
Without them, no more them; the colour is black purple..

Return of the Piper

Return of The Piper

The skirl of the pipes is carried on the wind
Purple heather moves in time with the sound
Dark clouds move in and cover the sky
His sanctuary the piper has found

Amid the deep lochs and mountains tall
Where the crofter's sheep roam wild
Away from all forms of civilisation
The piper, his vision has dialled

He longs to find a fireside seat
With a dram to warm his heart
If only he could escape the darkness
And recapture his mortal dart

The piper was slain many years ago
Upon a historic battlefield
Leading his clansmen into the fight
For a reason that they'd never yield.

Days Like Today

It's on days like today when I've things on my mind, I'd have dialled your number and we'd talk for a while, We'd have started off general with the weather and life, we'd have talked through the family and the faults of 'the wife', we'd have nattered for hours about this and then that, by the end none the wiser but content with our chat. It's on days like today that it gets me quite sad, that we can't talk for hours but I miss you still dad.

Tom Aggar

Tom’s the longest-serving member,
Of the British para-rowing squad,
Because whilst at a party, thunder,
He fell, slipped with all his quad.

He played rugby for Warwick Uni,
Because he lived for, loved sport,
But Coventry’s hospital said he,
Was paralysed, their true report.

As part of his long rehabilitation,
He took up rowing which he raved,
And so grossed the competition,
In Beijing 2008 which he engraved.

He went from the 2007 Worlds -
The World Rowing Championships,
Where he won gold, short words,
To opportune a gold in 2008 hips.

In 2009, Portugal at the WRC’s,
He took another gold medal fair,
And again in 2010 he won the seas,
And yet again in 2011, he did heir.

So in 2014 at the World Champs,
He won a silver in Amsterdam,
And in 2015 in France with amps,
He took another silver gram.

Tom was born 24th May in 1984,
As an eighties discotheque child;
He lives in Caversham, his door,
Into the world of contests dialled.

Neighbours hadn’t seen Johnny since his beloved wife’s funeral
Even then, no one thought to check if the old man was okay
Gasps of horror were heard when his body was discovered
Limply hanging from the rafters of his bedroom ceiling
Even the post piling up in the porch hadn’t alerted anyone
Clasped in his hands a picture of his darling wife and a cell phone….
The last number he had dialled was the Samaritans

Parable In An Ode

PARABLE IN AN ODE.

My muse guides me to compose,
A Parable in an Ode.....
Once was driving on sodden roads,
Automobile went into overload,
Smoke emissions from transmission,
To car jam I did not give permission,
Dialled Roadside assist on my mobile phone,
Ages passed, standing by side of road,
Then along drove helpful mechanic guy,
Fixed my wheels, waved goodbye.
I drove again, wheels were turning,
Economising forever I am spurning,
Thought of this parable in an Ode,
"Always pay annual fee for assistance on the Road!!!"

Step By Step

From undertaker to conversation maker
The callers were now all alone
The clickerty - clack
Of the Strowger exchange
No operators needed to answer the phone
~GG~

An Undertaker called Strowger invented the Strowger Telephone Exchange making the need of an Operator to connect calls unnecessary. The mechanism made a clicking noise as it selected the dialled number. He then returned to being an undertaker.

A Skit On the Picture For My Contest

I snook up to the window
Light was lit inside
Trying to make myself invisible
Against the wall I pressed my side

I shuffled along inch  by inch
was just about to peak
When i heard someone in the room
Raised voices and a slap, felt weak

Oh my what shall i do now
Do I call the police
Can hear a lady screaming
Something about relief

Many blows were struck
Cries hard  to understand
I peeped could see the man
A belt  in his hand

I dialled the police
Said dont make a sound
When they arrived
Was pleased to have around

They looked through the window
Starting to laugh out loud
Just 2 nymphomaniacs
Whipping to them was allowed.

Just goes  to show you
Not all  is what you think
Keep your nose out of trouble
Stay chained to the kitchen sink.

Flight Number Three Two K

I bid you farewell my friend

I'll be on the next plane of no return

Number three two k

a ticket one way

in forever gone to stay

And if you ever come to miss me

in want to hear my voice

   Just remember

So many days i dialled your number

So many calls never been answered

You left me no other choice

And if you ever come to need me

   Just remember

So many nights i knocked on your blue door

I heard soft music in the background

but there was nobody home.

I bid you farewell my friend

I'll be on the next plane of no return

Number three two k

a ticket one way

in forever gone to stay

And tomorrow there s' a sunrise

in a yesterday s' a gloom

in today there is a sunset

and above there s' a half moon.
