There is no refuge from this deluge
From their devil may care subterfuge
As psychotic as the thugs "in Bruges"
A slippery spicy slope a dicey icy luge
Endless eddy goes down the centrifuge
Climate crushing & not blushing rouge
Each greedier leader a corporate stooge
Seedier media with the facts a scrooge
Northern hemisphere countries take turns
Flames rage for an age everything burns
Chances for change government spurns
Bigwig gig still earns while society churns
For peace we yearn but no lesson learns
Clear concerns the future is ashes in urns
Freely admit am more than a bit of a Test cricket junkie
VIP pass doff for punky class of Bazball’s start so spunky
Revel in rocking devil may care peacocking flair so funky
But when stuttered became rather cluttered and clunky
Then Ben not with his men again is still a cheeky monkey
Iffy getting squiffy forgot curfew & in a jiffy all got gunky
Palaver in a lather farce of toff ECB job & gob of slob Key
Smelt wrong the pong not dope has felt old school skunky
Hunky stallion did quaff the trough now rapscallion donkey
Scoff not bob on plunky fob off dob em in for being a flunky
Got a cob on Baz a show off ar*e & Rob chubby and chunky
Sob should burn on the hob as each other’s jail bit*h bunkie
Turn the door k*ob in lob Baz & Bob then Ben lose the key
Family foibles and festive baubles to share
Frivolity frolics jollity & alcoholic histrionics
Swilled fables & tables filled with similar fare
Suggestive seasonal strolls for restive souls
Cast bitten still smitten bestilled by chilled air
Bedevilled dishevelled by some distilled wares
Pagan past perch in their old peculiar church
Dare to revel with another level devil may care
No graces or airs just familiar faces and lairs
Don't be reckless or feckless this Michaelmas
Feuds rude moods eschewed along with despair
Plied with yuletide pride bliss of this solstice kiss
At last no faff or fuss for us secular Christmas fayre
Still suggesting there is a place for some cricketing rhymes in these Testing times?
In the land of lengthy cumulus curiosity amazed by the velocity of the atrocity
The crazed ferocity of ghoulish foolish monstrosity which blazed across the ditch
Where Off his Head did bewitch on the pitch so quick slick should've got a stitch
For what it's worth pithier levity aptly sums up the rum girth of the mirth of Perth
Travis’s temerity, depravity of sporting gravity, severity of brevity of Ashes rebirth
No devil may care, hoping us coping rightful heir not moping at the Gabba, repair
Dare to dream in Aussies’ despair lair ending their frightful mind bending nightmare
Cheers to elite broadsheet peers who it appears our fears, sneers, jeers & nadirs share
Ignore more hackneyed score from seedier bottom feeder media on tour, Go All Square!
See, faced with no one,
yet in my mind I see him everywhere.
The best thing for me;
do not name it,
stitch my mouth,
say nothing.
But silence is never nothing.
Silence is the loudest thing he gives me.
What seizes the eye at once
makes the heart beat between lines.
Utmost, inexplicable, perpetual stimulation.
Now the wind blows mournfully,
and I let it.
Naturally, flagrantly, palpably,
replaying each line,
bona fide, constantly, truthfully, carefully.
Beating through language,
an ache written sideways,
pain grammar cannot hold.
Devil-may-care.
On the edge of a single smile,
he walks through my thoughts.
Every gesture is an answer.
Every lack of gesture is an answer.
I build whole futures
out of unfinished sentences.
Between my wanting
and his unknowing,
through life's clenched jaw,
I cling to the unrequited knowledge
of reciprocity.
Speak of the devil incarnate
to give the devil his due
not to play devil's advocate
tho' devil-may-care
the devil is in the details
and while we're there
to state so now would be opportune
he who sups devil's food cake
or devilled eggs with the devil
should have a very long spoon
but if we don't the devil you say
better the silver-tongued devil you know
or there'll be the devil to pay
and we may go to the devil and be
between the devil and the deep blue sea
but it's the devil in me
as for the devil I have no sympathy

STANZA 1
Love at first sight,
Was like the happiness of birches birds.
The lightening of the innermost light,
Desired to be protected with girds.
STANZA 2
Set the bow to defeat her sorrow,
But to her, devil may care.
Ready to marry her tomorrow,
But to her was a nightmare.
STANZA 3
The world even testified that she is my dimeworth.
But all my heart and inner love ended up in tears.
I returned to my inner love with loath.
And my heart was grieved with fear.
STANZA 4
I took all my Morse,
Because I backed the wrong horse.
Quiet porch and a lazy chair,
sitting for a while is a song.
A blue collar stereotype.
Highlights visible from the air,
bold italics will show up strong.
Iconic, working that pinstripe.
Dusk saunters in devil may care,
sizzling whatever could go wrong?
Tipple a taste of this peace pipe.
Like a view of the county fair,
the big girl rides go all night long.
Such fine architectural hype.
I have built my diorama,
a caricature of drama.
Dancing on my own grave,
both sides of the same coin;
The power’s in the flip;
Is it righteous or the night?
A slow waltz can give lip;
Dancing on my own grave
rattles the underground;
Unruly sounds fill the air;
Ombré locks dressed to kill,
a bit devil may care;
Dancing on my own grave
the necromancer moves;
Calling the wrong magic;
Bare bones expand wanting,
nowhere near poetic.
On the monkey bars,
riding that see saw;
Always wearing a
devil may care grin,
Life is a playground;
A game of tag
that person’s it;
Hide and go seek
in play at dark;
Laughter whirls
on swing sets
whimsical;
Wild turn
about …
slide!
Just a down to earth dude, nothing special
Live a simple uncomplicated existence
It's how it's been for eighty-eight years
Changing now would be inconsistent
We are who we are after many long years
Of living, observing, and choosing
The path that seems like the right one to us
Is the one that's the least confusing
Some are comfortable with strife in their life
It seems to give them reason for being
Always liked mine to be real smooth sailing
With a simple devil-may-care feeling
Don't know how many of you nice people
Have a similar approach to living
Didn't have a choice it was chosen for me
But I certainly don't have any misgivings
