Premium Member A Dry Wind -- Paz

Time without you here depresses me so.
Branches hang like ribs of an old shipwreck.
I walk through a quiet wood, calling your name.
Only a dry wind answers, rattling the dead leaves.
The path looks identical when not at the end of it.
I look at my hands and fail to recognize the skin.
The ground beneath me feels like it might give way.
I am a shadow cast by nothing at all.
If you are nowhere, then this is my only home.
I’ll remain until darkness envelops my outline.

175 Worthless Workless

175.

Worthless Workless

Day by day as I wake up in the morning

Knowing that I prepare for nothing

Makes me to rise up unwilling

It's hard being workless

The air whispers I'm worthless

My inner stamina depresses

As the hands of time pass by

And I do nothing but standby

My soul chides me, I just sigh

Being jobless makes me feeble and fat

Becoming disgusting to look at

Like a weak-limbed fattened rat

Without a job, I feel unworthy

To take in meals three times daily

Consumed by aura of lethargy

Oh Lord, deliver us from this abeyance

Give me business or work by chance

Lest I be caught by an ambulance.

Premium Member Full Speed Ahead

Yet .mountains more we must climb
Peaks to pick, never to decline

Doing otherwise depresses the mind
Those demons of fear, we must bind

Full speed ahead; never deaf or blind
And we dare not weep or whine

Change hates to wait; now is the time
Fix broken pieces; it's half past nine

Whatever is missing, we must find
There' s still time to get in line

Midnight is not your friend nor mine
Today we must toil; tomorrow we dine

Today is cloudy; tomorrow is sunshine
So, let's wipe away tears of defeat

Every drop that renders us weak
And we will reach the heights we seek

The word is out, having already been said
There' s no turning back; full speed ahead

Dear people, I am reaching out through poetry..'
I am not contest oriented..As you might gather i
Am not in my person (a blunt character) rather
I beleive also
A direct one.' And a penitent one to a degree now..
Who is aware of the attack on humanity which
Has always been there.' Yet that now is speeding
Up in the present times.' (Added to this i find i am)
An accidental insider to the ( covid era )
Due to a chance conversation 28/30 years ago which i
am now after remembering in january 2023
Wrestling with airirg the account of.' I probably need
Another four hours solid to put the memory down
In text, i have done about half, yet i find it depresses
Me and i have broken down in tears, once i dig into my
Reccolections.) I wish you all the best; may God be
With all who read anything I put out.'

Finding Light

The stars do shine and twinkle
A glimmer and gleam of hope
But the pollution has taken over
The obnoxious smog has grown far too strong
My eyes cannot find the light anymore
So I’ll dust off my glasses
And hunt for a telescope
Rummage through the aged cedar chest ‘til dawn
Poke, prod, and search to find that instrument
If it will return luminosity
The dark only depresses
And I have sunken too low
The bleakness of the void will escalate
Unless I discover the glow again
I worry about what else I might find
I have made it my mission
To ignore the surprises
And focus instead on that which I know
Will cast me higher into redemption
From a cruel world that has forgotten
When I attain the object
I will never let it fade

Premium Member Arthritis Is Back

Autumn sneaks early into September
With cloudy days and cooler temp,
A feeling of fall in the morning air
Arthritis is back, causing me to limp.
Thank goodness for dear ol’ Ben Gay
With his sweet smell of peppermint,
He helps me make it through the day
By applying his soothing, minty scent.
The pain is real, the ache depresses
With stiffness that won’t go away,
We all have those minor distresses
Unfortunately, Arthritis plans to stay!

Premium Member Sunny Islands of Greece

Winter’s chill pierces my frail heart
My shallow breath could cease,
Ere spring arrives, I may depart
For the sunny islands of Greece.

Beautiful Kythira

Lovely riviera

I dream of the Aegean Sea,
Winter’s chill so depresses me.

I'm tired of absorbing your depression.
Like you're the only person on Earth who has issues.
You think nobody understands your situation.
I don't believe you want anybody to understand.
Because that's what you believe makes you troubled but unique-
Strangely, it has given you purpose in life.
Makes you special-one of a kind.
You know, like the Crayola crayon with the funny name.
Perched in the corner of the box, forgotten.
The canyon that swallows its own echo.

I'm tired of inhaling your depression.
I wasn't put on this earth to be a canvas
for cutting. mashing and blue period slashings.
That's not "my" purpose in life.
My purpose is to be accepting of the happiness
that swirls all around me.

Your depression depresses me to no end.
I'm climbing out of your Crayola crayon flash flood canyon.

Window of My Heart

There is a window in my heart
I keep it curtained rarely glancing within

If I open it for viewing, deep wounds within
will sadden me and others

There is another window which shows beautiful memories
I keep that window open, never put any curtains

I allow others to peek in and share my joy
Smile on their face,
happiness in their heart
makes my day

My life has its miseries,
If I keep them in my thoughts
it depresses me, I cry

For my own happiness
I just have forgotten them as dead past

Positive thoughts keep me happy
I keep my mind in task at hand
Don't think much

I enjoy my short life
doing all that gives me joy.

Doing Nothing

When the choice is doing nothing
As opposed to getting started
Then no matter what advice to you
Has often been imparted

I will add my two cents’ wisdom
Which I’ve mastered over ages –
Taking that first step is harder
Than the average person gauges.

When you stick with doing nothing
There will not be any stresses
So your day won’t be considered
One that taxes or depresses.

Let us praise procrastination
For our spirits won’t be shaken
If some challenges may beckon
But no steps have yet been taken.

End of the World News Depresses Me

The end of the world news depresses me

the end of the world new
depresses me
makes me want to shout and scream

STFU leave me alone
to deal with my grief
amid the death and destruction

watching CNNMSNBCFOXBBC media nonstop
filled with essential dread
the end of the world is upon us

from the screaming news media
spreading forth across the land
fake news screams the president

all is alright he proclaims
no one believes his 16,000 lies
and so it goes

we are drowning with information
coming at us so fast
and furious

When will it end my friend
is anyone’s guess
in the long run we are dead
