Decompress Poems | Examples

On lunch, munch, and punch

And leaving all else, they debate on lunch.
To one, lunch time was waste, hence, break-less munch.
The other felt, lunch-less
Would no new glory bless
To UK, nor hoary
Return to old glory,
Lunch is a place mid-stream--
Island to which all swim,
If cooler breaks are fine,
Need for lunch-break’s genuine,
For, from stomachs come working peoples’ punch.

Poet’s note: The prime minister and the leader of opposition are usually at logger heads, and British parliament is no exception. A few days back they exchanged their verbal punches on lunch and need to break for it. No doubt, no lunch is free--at home nor work nor anywhere, still…. This ditty is in full favour of lunchbreaks that refuel and decompress.

Premium MemberExcursions Rondelet

I feel restless,
my heart’s filled with touring notions;
I feel restless;
Longing not just to decompress,
my soul demands wild excursions;
Do you wanna cross the oceans?
I feel restless.

A Link On the Brink

As you watched the abuse carried out,
My soul was broken, no doubt.

A connection can never be made,
As my nurturer and protector, I was betrayed.

Setting the stage for scant regard,
Not knowing how to protect myself by putting up my guard.

No loving childhood remembrances,
No I love you or tender embraces.

I finally had to let go and grieve,
It will never be the relationship I believe.

In order to begin the healing process,
I had to step away and decompress.

Premium MemberIts Sunday

Sunday’s an auspicious day to suggest
that you, as a student, take a recess
In order to try and decompress
from our studying and stress

Now, of course, if you’re so possessed,
or some might even say obsessed,
you could study for a test,
we all want to do our best
but some work habits can oppress
and leave one all depressed

Just take a needed rest
and if your needs are unaddressed
get caressed when you’re undressed
some would have that thought suppressed
or simply left it unexpressed
but under oath I would attest
and to a priest I have confessed
all my roommates acquiesced
that for relaxation it’s the best
and quickest way to get unstressed

there a hundred things I could suggest
you type “A”s tend to make everything a contest
in this, there are no professors for you to impress
this isn’t a competitive, academic trap, trick or jest
I just know that, on Monday, this girl will be refreshed

The Theft of Moral Defense

Dawn crests the peaks of barren refuse, enthralling masses and demanding rations of passion from muck

Stuck into walls, hanging out halfway, suspended by calls of anguish and hate

-

Little does it matter for our pain and thoughts
Little does it falter in it’s saintly rot
And little does it rain down pleasure atop rocks

-

Towering pulses in cavernous chests booming altering noises of gloomy doom and distress
decompression
decompress

-

Such success in sessions of secessions thought best bring messy manipulations of emotions and stress

Blessedly pressing the rest into vests of blasting intent and the buying of souls not spent

The buying of souls not spent

The theft of moral defense

Can I Rest

Can I rest?
That's the quest
Most of us are addicted to stress
Which helps when things are next, next, next
But when they slow down life's a mess

Why the later I go to sleep, the earlier I wake
Everything like an earthquake
Truly can make the world shake
The day I take a break

Can I rest?
This is a test, everything a mess,
I am glad. I am blessed.
But I have to see can I rest.

Stress will infest and make you detest...
Living... which is meant to decompress
I cannot change the people around me
So I must change the people around me
I pray inward, ground me
Let's see can I rest, I've been on this quest

Let's see... Can I rest.

Premium MemberDate With the Moon

The sound of a cow peeing
is the wettest sound, let go

like a bucket slush on a barn slab
or so my grandfather used to

say. When my son comes home
I hear his fire hose upstairs

and remember how it was to
decompress so quickly. Grandad

once came out of the men’s
room shaking his head, and when

I asked why, he said that the room
was full of old men, half of which

couldn’t get started, and the other half
couldn’t stop. It’s my date with the moon

tonight--out the window of the master loo
at 3am. Perfect view, the creek trickling on.

Premium MemberThe Nimbus Express

 Invitation to visit Olympus
Predestined noble affair
Feeling extremely timorous
But, Apollo will be there.

Anticipation is killing me
To think I'll meet immortals
Thrilling thought, smiling glee
Seeking Olympus portal.

Riding high on Nimbus Express
There's no other way to travel
Except I had to decompress
Or my humanity would unravel.

Immortals left me breathless
Handsome enough to be sure
Their company quite infectious
On Olympus no rancour.

Totally out of my depth
Memories enough to treasure
Eternal life there is no death
Living each day for pleasure.

Nimbus Express brought me home
Inordinate sadness feeling hollow
Parting gift a golden cell
Awesome! can talk to Apollo.

D Poem

This damned domain of dominoes destined to fall
This doddering diatribe deliberately designed
This dwelling damp as deadwintered Darlington
This deeper dream of dungeons and dragons

This desperate dirge of dying deliberations
This drum droll as December’s daylight done
This decorated delightful deck of diamonds
This driven date that doomsday deselected

This dotted, dashed diary of dark desperation
This demystified danger we dryly decompress
This dead, defunct day that drew disgust
This damned domain of dominoes all fallen down.

Premium MemberSipping Tea With the Moon

Just sitting, sipping tea with the Moon;
Across she glows in her party dress,
I send my dreams up on a balloon;

With each soft gaze ideas are strewn;
Under this sky it’s easy to decompress,
just sitting sipping tea with the Moon;

Armed with a seductive magical tune
changing roles to become the temptress,
I send my dreams up on a balloon;

Wearing a smile I sit and swoon
soliciting a wish packaged to impress,
just sitting sipping tea with the Moon;

Snacking on a star filled macaroon
wind whistles just hoping for a ‘Yes’,
I send my dreams up on a balloon;

Sugared longing by the tablespoon,
looking to her to untangle this mess;
Just sitting, sipping tea with the Moon
I send my dreams up on a balloon.

Drowning

Exhausted with stress
Feeling the burdening weight
The sudden longing to decompress
Realizing his tired state

Unable to continue
Acknowledging the weakness
He struggled and knew
Sinking into the darkness

Gasping for air
Reaching for help
Letting his last breath be a prayer
No longer would he yelp

The waters consumed him
Others did their best
But he couldn’t swim
Now his body will rest

Premium MemberClasp of Freedom

caught in an octopus’ arms

rip tide of tentacles

underwater currents

the black ink indelible

syphoned protection

can’t see the circling sharks

in my cocoon of false shadows

a surreal embrace

suction caps in action

in surprise

that it is me who

holds on for dear life

a fairy tale because a dolphin

comes to my rescue

until I glow in the dark

disentangle my fear

make friends with an imagined foe

condense spray into light

dissolve and reflect on

what could have been if I

had not been at rock bottom

not caved in to the pressure

sometimes life sheds its meaning

in dubious squirts

allegories and metaphors

until you dive in murky gloom

and take a tight squeeze

decompress on ascent

accept inklings of surrender

Premium MemberBoredom

A bore hole of fantasy once you dig deep in your mind

					Ennui converts into Feng Shui

All you need is a dustpan and brush to sift through your pain

				Some archaeological DIY tools

Become a geologist and mine your very own thoughts

Explore tedium and lassitude malaise and confusion

Search for gold dust among the ruins of weariness

Forage for contentment meaning and reason

Beware of alchemy and doomed prophets hanging from false ceilings above

Precious ink from your fountain needs time to sink in

Loneliness bears the potential for solitude and completion

					Side effects are intended results

Submerge yourself in an ocean of unlimited reflection

Dive carefully but you must take the plunge

Hold your breath when you reach the sediment of your emotions

			But decompress your melancholy sorrows

The anchor of hope awaits the mariner draped in sea weed and love

An octopus guides to an eight fold noble path

I am not drowning but waving in private resolve gratitude and peace

At times upside down but buoyant as a kite in the sky

Premium MemberToo Much

Too much of everything
Nothing simple anymore
News channels obsolete
Opinions galore

Grocery stores sell it all
Not a thing one of a kind
Now even apps for that
Decisions all the time

Factor in time constraints
It has to be this minute
The now or never attitude
Leaves no enjoyment in it

You all know that feeling
When going on overload
I know not to ignore it
Will hide or hit the road

A few minutes alone time
To give my mind a rest
Decompress stress level
Take a few deep breaths
