The Ball

The sun lights up the air at dawn,
and crystal lutes play the tune.
We wonder whatever went wrong
as we choke on funeral fumes.

They leave it in the air tonight,
packed in slowly a tempest fright.
The fever spills upon the sand
as armies march across the land.

We play in time, the world cries,
out amongst the things that die.
The cinders come and draw us nigh
as we figure upon the lie.

To restrain the number called
while ladies dance inside the hall.
They look so lovely at the ball
just before the maddening fall.

Premium MemberNobody's Funeral

At Nobody’s funeral no guests appeared
No priest came to serve the last rites
No one sent flowers, no one volunteered
To carry the coffin outside
So what’s about funeral, is it a hoax?
It does seem like hallucination
Or one of those flat unintelligent jokes
Some share to get brief attention
If it’s real, I’d like to attend, count me then
I’ll come, if you have the address
We'll bury that ever-recurring old man
Who caused such a terrible mess
He shall be buried as soon as it takes
Just tell me the date, send a scheme
But this time it shouldn’t be any mistakes
I must be assured if its him
Whose soul was as hollow as trunk of a reed
Who had nothing to say but the lies
Fake and evil was pretty much all that he did
What a joy that he finally dies
A solace of freedom and peace comes again
After war people like to feel free
We cannot be judged for the crimes of armed men
Much too busy with love are we
Nobody is dead, breaking news on the top
Swan Lake’s on the TV all day
Four little cygnets are dancing non stop
Odette in the wings drinks champagne.

Premium MemberThe Last Stop

The last breath
The last death
The last phone call
The last fall
The last funeral
The last burial
The last roll
The last poll
The last smile
The last style
The last flight
The last rite
The last crap
The last stop
Alas! Somewhere
There is a last
That we can bear
We need the past
To move on in life
After a barmy gaffe
We weep and we laugh
As we sail solo on the life raft.

Dance My Soul

Dance my soul

Though your day is dark

And night is long-cold

Take heart for the tide will soon turn

And pain fades away

It has been a winding tedious journey

But the dawn is near

And glad tidings will soon unfurl

Fear not the shadow and the uncertainty it brings

Hope is the light and faith the fire

Let faith burn and hope shine

The place of thorns where you stand

Is but a steppingstone into blossomed garden

And you shall fragranced find

The song and dance

Of your resurrected greatness.

Premium MemberDoves and Sea Gulls

I never learned to dance, with humans or wolves;
But my cousin Jammie Ray could dance the night away.
And I would never for once consider 'running with the bulls'.
At my uncle's funeral, I did enjoy 'the releasing of the doves'.
And I really do miss walks alone the Pacific, watching sea gulls.

Premium MemberI Will Dance With You Again

Dedicated, in loving memory, to Katie and Richard.
Rest in peace my friends.

Come gather here,
Be at your ease,
To say this last goodbye.
Not to this shell before you,
But to a life passed by.

I lie wrapped in a tapestry,
Stitched with every memory,
That we have shared together,
Through calm and stormy weather,
By each other’s side.

I do not ask you for your tears ,
For I am free, my suffering past. Remember all the times we laughed,
And when you find that happy place,
Let a smile light up your face.

We forged our bond with love, not tears,
Linking arms, we walked as one,
Now is my turn to rest a while,
I have reached the final stile,
But you must carry on.

Goodbye, to you, with whom I’ve shared,
This wondrous gift of life.
Enjoy the dance, life’s sweet refrain,
For love is timeless as the stars,
And i will dance with you again.

Grave Side

I spent three hours in your company
we did not speak
I breathed your soul
and felt restored

She That Embraced The Darkness In Her Veins

With her mind not sick of dark devious games
she opens dead doors, tossing in more painful blames
in newly acquired realm, no mercy was real
as darkness ate away, weeping heart to steal.
She planted her black roses, her favorite crop
Embracing hate masters, never going to stop.

As her heart transformed to stone, sky fell away
nights holding no moons and bright stars, only grey
listening for wolves to howl and night owls hoot
she pondered life and how deep her ancient roots.
Garden wide, its radiant color darkest black
She counted her evil chips, in multiple stacks.

With heartache's deadliest weapon, she spared none
as souls shattered, she would cry out, this is fun
in heralded glory, she lit bigger fires
lustily craving hotter funeral pyres.
When nights got boring, her satanic eyes would blaze
Out into waiting wild world, all hell she would raise.

Rhyme, (Dark Oft Invades Broken Hearts)

Note- The muse said, when darkness invades and the heart saddens and sinks
write words from malevolent parades and pour us both much stiffer drinks!

Ballroom Doom

A shroud of dark and eerie gloom
Hangs over the static ballroom
In the air, the scent of too-strong perfume
On the floor, glass swept by a little old broom

An end has come to every game
The paint paper man is trapped in his frame
Behind the glass, his head hangs in shame
Cards fallen off tables, the forks all aflame

With feminine fingers unfurled, there she lies
All signs of life drained from the blue of her eyes
Lips are just parted, holding back "why?"s
But it was too late; she had met her demise

A gunshot to the head
Was it something she'd said?
Guests fled as she bled
Found doors locked, seas of red

And the dancers all screamed
As the man bled them out
The musicians' eyes gleamed
With tears full of doubt

But yesterday's over
And we're left with the mess
Of events that wove her
Black funeral dress

You Can'T Keep Dancing With the Devil and Wonder Why You'Re Still In Hell

The deal is done you’ve sold your soul,
hurled yourself into a pit of coal,
whirling like a dervish you fan the flame,
each time he invokes his unholy game.
In a ball gown made of funeral palls,
you dance with the devil each time he calls.

Entranced by his rhythmic violin,
you live a life of perfect sin.
You lie and cheat, your wish is his pleasure,
have everything you want, wine, women and treasure.
You believe it’s right even though it’s wrong
now Satan’s the singer and you’re the song.

But soon the glitter will turn to dust,
the gold and silver he promised will turn to rust.
As you twist and writhe he’ll revel as you burn,
for this is a lesson you’ll never learn.
To the devils tune you dance so well
yet you wonder why you’re still in hell.

Rock Royalty

I decend from rock royalty.
On a local Irish level.
My Dad rocked around the clock.
At night in local dancehalls.
And daily in his chemist shop.
Accordion strapped on tight.

He begat three singing sons.
And four fine singing daughters.
At his funeral we seven sang his
favourite hymns and Danny Boy.
There was not a dry eye as
we all wished him goodbye.

Now, his eldest son rocks on.
Drove all the way on my wedding morn.
To rock my wedding night away.
With The Stunning, up from Galway.
Lead guitarist with fingers flashing.
Brewing a Storm, husband head banging.

Fitting poem for today, Elvis's anniversary.
I admit rock and roll is my forte.
Rhythm courses through my body.
I cannot sit when good music plays.
I simply must get up and sway.
Please take my hand...let's dance.

Premium MemberThe Butterfly Dance

Dance
Between the granite stones
Of the dead
Long ago last breaths do part
Memories seeping in dirt
Black birds and magpies
Lace and knots
Lingering thoughts
Swaying too and fro
Insane

Dancing
On top of the dead
Lover is all but gone
Butterflies shown
That life flies on
As shadows rest
Upon ones breast

I Am Shy

I get nervous in front of crowds
my first words are usually shaky
I can stand straight but take a few steps
in a direction corresponding with that awkward moment
you realize
everyone is listening, interpreting, judging, sympathizing
just trying to understand
the first time I gave a speech was 6th grade
the teacher said its hard speaking in front of a class
who wants to try?
I got brave and took the spotlight
only to find I was blinded
and at a loss for words
show and tell was stress
I ate my silence
I just want to connect, on a grande scale
fast, quick, and easy
The only speaking that mattered
was my great grand mothers funeral
I was the oldest of a generation
I spent a while getting my thoughts down
what I said lasted only a few minutes
the words echo in my head
have been
and probably will till death
I want to lead a group into chaos
get everyone to dance
become wild creatures fleeting on our fairest fancies
seek joy and fearlessly love
express in a healthy way
be aware
I'm just trying to connect
I am shy
