What drives me mad and to the brink:
Annoying people, noise and trash
And total strangers who are brash

Gold-digging women, joke that’s bad
And lack of money, latest fad
The losing team, increase in tolls
Plan for the country full of holes

Inflation, markets, kids who’re rude
My job is where I’m being screwed
Potholes, education boards
Retirement

My hasty steps echo
on the cracked stone tile,
before the bus door hisses
shut—Late again.
"It's a wonderful life," the clouds sing in chorus.
Their church choir harmony almost offensive,
if I didn't know,
they truly believe
life is lullabies and steaming apple tea.

Swear-soaked hair clings to my neck.
I call these ember days:
when smoldering urban air chokes—
Yet the clouds drift,
marshmallow white—
Like porcelain

Flowers don't have a daily life
They are dressed beautifully
To attract any lover bees
Or adorn to any visiting butterfly
Their beauty is but a fleeting
Their charm is intoxicating
Their fragrance scent is beneficial
To all men, women and lover
One day they will be on display
In a garden or in a flower shop 
They will be put in the lady's

The app displays delivered, but no proof waits
At the door, nor at the store—no box, no crates, 
Whereto my package? I simply don’t know…

Was it stolen, picked up by some joe schmo?
Or lost in transit, misplaced, dropped, as fate’s 
Great comedy, with mischievous whim dictates?

My heart holds this moment close
of wind and rain sweet across the bay
grey storm that heralds our coming autumn
a shred of blue forecasts afternoon calm
but for now the rain drops resolute

My coffee warm against my hands
as I gaze out upon the grasses swaying
on the bluff above a fortress of grey stone
the seagulls have no worries

Kneeling and praying
For something to
Ease the tension
Of a day in which
Nothing happened
As if the sunrise would be
Wasted in the tedium of
Anticipation unmet
Dragging a long day out
Into a wasted sunset

And

At night, my restless dreams
Morphed into imagining
And the fears of more than just
The randomness of daily life

The Nuances of Daily Life

I miss the nuances of daily life
while weeks are frozen in this quarantine.
I miss the lost normalcy of my days
in all aspects, obvious and unseen.
I miss turning my head to read the spines
of the novels on the library shelves,
I miss the crackle of books’ cellophane
and the old people who sit by themselves.
I miss the box

Household Cosmonauts

I want to rearrange rooms with you,
Sipping steeped teas and coffee beans. 
Pondering an existential anamnesis;
"The aloe should go here."

I want to want little victories,
Shape sovereign lands from the exigent patriarchy of our uncordial entente.
Reap what worlds within worlds are ours from the wars of decor.

Where the couch lives is where the war is won.

The yellow sun rises high in the sky,
All the villagers are waking,
Blue birds singing from high up in their nests,
Weapon grabbing ready for their trip,
Lonely animals getting tracked down,
All men sneaking,
Animal has been spotted,
Spears flying towards the creature,
Squelching flesh tearing apart,
Animal rapidly dying,
Everyone enjoying their feast,
People slowly doze off into a calm relaxed sleep.

Working as hard as I can
To get money to pay the bills
Searching for food for the family
Trying to get through the day
As best as I can

All it matters
Is to get some money
To be able to not to think
How am I supposed to support?
My kids, my husband, and I
