I go for the gold.

Fair Game

At the Tennessee State Fair,
the largest stuffed animals hang tilt-a-whirl over the pool tables
with mocking button eyes,
knowing the playing field is unlevel,
that the rails slant, ever so slightly, north or south,
so that gravity is always on their side,
conspiring to save their plush, extravagant hides
year after year.

Sunny Afternoon

There we sat, a sunny afternoon
The barbie lit, not quite enough flame
Her father fans it, wife tries to explain
Happy families. Two language game
I’ve nothing in common, forgotten their name.

I let myself go, release my sarcastic mood

A surprise anniversary gift,
Caused giggles, which gave me such a lift,

My lovely friend Chris gave me a bag with some chocolates and a card and carefully wrapped in white tissue paper was a 9 inch cucumber which her husband had

If I'D Picked Up a Snooker Cue

If I’d picked up a snooker cue, when I picked up a pen;
and then gone on to build a break of eight or nine or ten.

If I had only listened more to those who understand;
who told me not to play the game by using just one hand.
