Motherland carnival

The sky was draped in night’s black cloak,
With a sprinkle of white specks in bloom.
The yellow moon slipped into a gibbous cocoon,
As sunshine fretted in crescent-shaped kites.

But the streets today were painted in bright colours—
They cloaked the rainbow in a toga of envy.
Many danced and sang in melodious harmony,
Dressed like masquerades with neither masks nor veils.

The clouds were clear and gleamed with a faint glow,
Since the last drop of rain they’d stored was in October.
It was the music, played on hand-held instruments,
That shook off harmattan’s dryness from trees and grasses.

"This carnival is like no other,"
A lady in red and white whispered to her husband.
They, like many others, had traveled from far and wide,
To sway their hips and jiggle their feet to Motherland Africa.

The hordes of strange faces mingled with local ones—
Each year, new loves are sparked, and babies are born.
Many a mulatto grows with one half of their roots in photos,
Yet every year brings memories sweet and strong.

The First Bite

Kneaded clouds in saltlight bowls,
rolled paper thin, then baked
into a crescent shaped croissant.
Buttered with mist.
The first bite and you fall from heavens,
crumb by dream-soaked crumb.

Santorini, a stand out beauty, a splendor in the sea, a semicircular
Cycladic island in the Southern Aegean Sea with dramatic caldera
landscape so unique, crescent shaped, offering breathtaking views.
The famous whitewashed homes, structures with some featuring
glowing blue domes, cliffs falling into the blue crystal clear waters
of Aegean Sea, spectacular sunsets of dazzling kaleidoscope of colors.
Sadly, located at a fault zone with tectonic activity causing tremors.

waves of green mustard gas
country come plains, it's not your first mistake

Beneath the sweltering luminescent sky.
A thunderbolt flared over the silent firefly.
Oak-smoke tones and vanilla bean paste.
Swung idly, draped as moss from a baste.

Tintinnabulation caused by wind-borne sighs.
The gentle quiet of flora roughness is dry.
Evenfall cobalt-wrapped nascent starlight.
A crescent-shaped moon is gloaming in flight.

An avalanche of a billion Katydid wing beats
Cricket voices in a range of alto to bass feats
My gem-encrusted flame bursts and spits.
Beneath a benumbed bowl, boiling hiss.

My soul finds solace in the lichened death fall.
I was thrilled by the fire and the creepy owl call.
A soft mist falls across drooping eyelids.
amid the dancing stars and firefly skids.

Premium MemberA Fairy Tale of Romance - Story Poem

Once upon a dreamy fairy tale night
Two lover's hearts went soaring off in flight
The setting a magical seaside scene
Enchanting beauty befitting a queen.

Fairies gathered to gaze from on a star
For romance delighted their tiny hearts
So enthralling was this mystical sight
They sprinkled their fairy dust o'er the night.

Sequin-silver jewels enhanced night sky
Twinkling on the sea as waves rippled by
Soft golden sand cushioned the lovers feet
As they strolled along the crescent shaped beach.

Only sound was the opera of sea
A soothing oceanic melody
The summer breeze caressed their sun kissed skin
Just as their rendezvous was to begin.

He took her in his arms and held her tight
Whispered "darling you look lovely tonight"
In a tender moment of bliss they kissed
Pledging their love would stay a lifelong tryst.

They danced merrily in splendour of sea
For today they joined in matrimony.

First Night of Forever
Love is a serenade that never ends...
Once upon a romantic starry night
Two lover's hearts went soaring off in flight
The setting a lovely magical scene
Enchanting beauty befitting a queen.

Midnight sky strung with glittering jewels
Twinkled on the sea, dancing to each move
A summer breeze caressed their sun kissed skin
Never was a night as charming as this.

Fairies gathered to gaze from on a star
For romance delighted their tiny hearts
So enchanting was this magical sight
They sprinkled their fairy dust o'er the night.

Soft golden sand gently cushioned their feet
Walking along lovely crescent shaped beach
Only sound was opera of the sea
Soothing ebb and flow of waves melody.

He took her in his arms and held her tight
Whispered "darling you look lovely tonight"
"You've made all my wishes and dreams come true”
She sighed, he sighed and the fairies sighed too.

They frolicked merrily at edge of sea
For today they'd joined in matrimony.
...If music be love’s rhapsody, play on.

 cresent moon cradles
a dark heavy pregnancy...
almost touching earth

The moon on Wednesday night
was crescent shaped on the
very bottom next to the earth
and it seemed like the moon
was nearly touching the earth.

Play It On Your Lips

:) :-)
Wear a smile all day,
smile away the day
and watch the effect
you pass around
It might just cheer up the not
so gay
and happiness may then
abound.

And don't you look your best
when you do smile
No wonder you're asked to say
'cheese' for a photo
but the trick is to wear it all
the while
'To smile without distinction'
be thy motto.:)

When someone creases their
forehead into a frown
You curve your lips upward
into a smile
Don't let their scowl get you
down
They,d be the one to look the
clown
while you show off your
inspiring style.

If people stare 'n' glare at you
Return their glares and stares
with a grinning smile
Keep smiling whether they boo
or pooh pooh
They might just reset their
mental file.

Thus forever flash your
pearlywhites
They aren't meant merely for
chow and bites.
A crescent shaped smiley on
the face
Flash em' into a smile that
lights
exploring your own facial
expression delights.:)

Wiswag

Feel asleep to the sound of nothings
Spinning above creeps the hypocrites
heart's suspended upside down
enters and leaves persistently
If my mind could think straight
I wouldn't want to believe the conclusion
coming to my false fate

Slowburn from the inside
turn senses into spies
subterfuge is only a sign
telling the truth is the biggest lie

Approaching the crescent shaped
Early mass for the late wake
where is the 6th night
when is the internal fight?
Giving into the moon's face above
Letting loose and feeding the demon inside
By releasing the white dove

Slowburn from the inside
turn senses into spies
subterfuge is only a sign
telling the truth is the biggest lie

And it feels like pain is a way to climatise
I've seen both fire and love hell and bliss
In these eyes

Soft scratch burns into the soul
Said the prayers kissed the saviour
Heart's all cloudy
But it still beats intently
Rain falls and cools my brow
Pull away from the abyss and breath again
Who's the devil now?

Slowburn from the inside
turn senses into spies
subterfuge is only a sign
telling the truth is the biggest lie

Crescent Shaped Heart

a mere sliver of joy
a brillant display of glow
to hide all that you will know
the blacked out face
hides a hideous smile
while it wounds you all the while
with its magnetic tug
it will drench your desire
with high tide
for sleep never comes
so enjoy the ride
for this heart
one day will be full
and on that night
you will feel the full effect
of love most poisoned
to subdue the abode
of your humble spirit
and split your soul in half
