The Storm I Welcome

when the eyes that are the sky start to open and cry the thunder, and clouds comfort me like a cozy lullaby
I love the thunder the screams of nature from the pain of nature.
I love the thunder it holds me close although sometimes I shake in fear from the howling
I'm surprised yet not hurt scared but not seen
Even though I am scared and quite shaken the love for thunder will never weaken
I'm surprised yet scared of you when you yell and cry, but I've never thought that it could be cause from something in your eye

The Child

Entertain a child,
And their minds will be with you.
Sing a song to a child,
And their focus stays on you.
Teach a child,
And you'll unlock the door to their imagination.
Read to a child,
And you’ll pave the way for their minds to wander and dream.

Introduce new shapes and colours to early learners,
And something awakens within them.
Present new letters and words to toddlers,
And their minds become ready to explore and discover.
Spend the summer outdoors with a child,
And they’ll see the beauty and splendour of the world.

A child remembers their toys;
They feel at home with them.
The world becomes a smaller place,
With its shadows no longer scary.
Its mysteries become a staircase to climb.

Confronting shadows

Why can't I walk in the garden at night?
Horrible shadows keep blurring my sight ~
They make me run like a man with no balls.
Each time I trip and get bruised from my falls.

These shadows whisper cold fears in my ear,
Now I understand the songs sung by fear,
Yet I must confront these fiery shadows,
But each new night, fresh darkness runs the shows.

Though I'm a child and children fear the dark,
Since most darkness are silent, still, and stark.
That's why my shadows I must now confront.
The trepidation they bring, I must hunt.

Tonight is the night I'll set myself free,
From my whole life, fiery shadows must flee.
Yet I still fear walking in the garden,
But from these hauntings, I seek a pardon.

Premium MemberAs Big As Life

As a child of only three,
looking out over the big blue sea.
Her eyes got huge with such glee,
as the waves hit her tiny knees.
Mommy I need to pee,
in the water is the key.
As big as life she can see,
making her wanting to flee.
At this young age did she make a plea,
making this big as life agree.
Will this wide blue sea hold Marie,
or in years will it set her free?

And Little Boy Number Two

Little boy number two
Felt the coldness from the air
That was breathed from the family
That grieved and was fighting for two to
Survive something new
And scary and horrible and dismal
The unthinkable and impossible

All along boy number two played alone
In his gated room that felt bigger and emptier
Than when he lived with his brother
And nobody took notice on little boy number three
Who had become seen
With the figurine he kept warm
from his little fingers he held on tightly
The pair of them would never be alone again

Premium MemberWizard of Oz - So Scary

As a child I became frightened and froze,
When I watched where yellow brick road goes.
For the witch in the sky,
Made me quiver and cry,
"Turn it off! I can’t stand her crows!"

Premium MemberSerious Night Dreams

   Serious night dreams,
   Have invaded my space.
   Annoying and scary,
Have to put back in place.
   Running away,
   Blood and guts,
   Repetitive dreams.
   Wakes me up,
   Startled in the dream.
   Not normal for me,
My dreams tend to be free.
   Relaxing and dissociative,
   Like a movie.
   Projected on my screen.
   Left over,
   From another night's dream.
   Can sit through it all,
   Perhaps popcorn.
While avoiding the serious night dreams.

Spooky Spiders

Hear Harry’s hysterical, startling scream.
Little spooky spiders made him run to the extreme.
It wasn’t a fairytale fantasy dream;
the cobwebs created a crazy football team.

Mother thought she’d heard their scary scheme,
so she planned to question the Queen.
I thought they were merely mean,
moving to our happy home, creating a scary scene.

Premium MemberThe Irises and the Gun

Van Gogh's "Irises" next to a guard with a gun
In a museum by the sea -
It was to be a pleasant weekend excursion
For my young son and me.

I wanted to show him treasures of the world,
My boy to enlighten -
But strange conflicting feelings in me swirled,
To attract, yet to frighten.

The lessons learned that day were many
As I held tightly to his hand -
Things that are even hard for me to see,
He tried to understand.

The world is filled with grace and beauty,
But I could not mislead -
Lurking in dark corners, there is also
Violence, ugliness and greed.

Van Gogh's "Irises" next to a guard with a gun
In a museum by the sea -
It was to be a pleasant weekend excursion
For my young son and me.

Premium MemberGhost Stories: COMPLETED

[Fiction Out West]

A mining town, among others, had been shut down the longest. Long before the mines closed, and all the towns followed. As the story goes; one night, a 10-year-old boy walks into a bar looking for his barmaid mom, and amid some bruhaha, he's accidentally shot dead. Enraged and unwilling to settle down, she's also shot dead by the same gunman--but her's was an act of murder. In his dark attire, he rides off and is never seen again. An odd thing occurred for ten years, there were gunfights, but no deaths since the boy and mom, and as they went on their way never to be seen again, plenty wondered but brushed it off as even-steven since there was peace after every incident--until they learned that they were 'god-awful' wrong.

Let the Children Be

Let the children be

The carefree laughter of a child, sweeps across the sky
The joy of playing and happiness can be seen
Eyes sparkle and cheeks are flushed with fresh air
The beauty and innocence of a child is everywhere

Man with wicked thoughts and perverted mind
Come to ruin the innocence of a child
To destroy that little world before it begins
To leave that life filled with scary things

Why must a child's innocence from him be taken
They don't deserve man’s evil intentions
The innocence of a child is the way to heaven
Evil men must pay for their actions

Preserve the beauty and innocence of a child
Permit them to be happy and free
God's children can show you a true smile
Let them be happy, let the children be.
