Around Chi-town there should be skull and cross bone signs.
It's one of the most violent places you'll ever come by.
but you'll not find murder numbers in any brochure.
The locals think covering up truth is the cure.
Governor Jester tosses a cherry bomb into the Chi-fire.
called "the safe t act" which entails no cash bail:
For those prone to mayhem and violence.
Ogres in all flavors will be unleashed.
On new year at the stroke of midnight.
"Happy New year Cinderella!", slurred the Jester...
There's a chance your carriage will be jacked.
It'll be a punk not a prince cracking your slipper of glass".
the death index is at a Chi-town high
while Mayor Lightfoot stands idly by
she refused to hold court
with Caucasian reporters
stomping white folk while black people die
It’s amazing how a sense of humor, can change the intake filter and quash a rumor. Lightness with brevity that comes with a spontaneous smiles,Can change the attitude of Chi town, LA, or even New York City. Life wears you down and forces your access to humor deeper within. The key is to keep playing at any age, you don’t have to be a Sage. If down fly a kite, shoot some hoops. The same wind that takes the kite aloft, can help with constipation, regular poops. Regular bowel movements not only clear internal passageways, but take away the heaviness, so feel lighter to play. Then if single you may feel like another chance at someone you dated, free of the residue, wrinkles, and poll lips you hated. So the bodies rhythm can’t be out of whack, if you want to make time with Jill or Jack.
Don't wait for the storm to be over
Learn to dance in the rain.
The storm will be good for the clover
As dancing is good for the brain.
The heart is at best just a rover
Loving to go cross the grain.
Don't wait for the storm to be over
Learn to dance in the rain.
Don't wait for the fire to die down
Get out your marshmallow sticks.
Flames cleaned the rust out of Chi Town
Replacing the wood shacks with bricks.
You see the stars when you lie down
Getting your open sky fix.
Don't wait for the fire to die down
Get out your marshmallow sticks.
Don't wait for someone to invite you
Learn to strike out on your own.
The smallest of things can excite you
Next thing you know, you have flown.
The storm and the fire rage despite you
You'll see that you're never alone.
Don't wait for someone to invite you
Learn to strike out on your own.
Don't stand in the doorway and wonder
If this is the time to go
Move out in spite of the thunder
Move out against the flow.
The storm and the rain cannot stop you
As long as you keep moving on.
And all those who think they can top you
Will look out and you'll be gone.
Chi town
death town
three years old
shot in the head
town
sick town
businesses burning down town
white flight town
chi-town-ghost town
another 14 dead over the weekend
town
the whole fn city can't breath
chi-town death clowns
juggling tombstones
town
riot town
tonight-another bloody night
town
A small Baptist church
sits in the middle of chi town
"the well of hope": it whispers in small black letters
night time-gang graffiti overtakes faith
pisses in the collection plate-
In the morning the pastor searches
the broom closet for a paintbrush
and only finds a laughing witch-
there's no answers to questions
the people no longer ask.
.
Chi-town has been rated just shy of a war zone.
and why would anybody want to bring friends and family into a war zone..
I avoid traveling through the city as much as possible,
Don't mind paying the serial tolls and x-tra time it takes to go around.
It's a shame because I like museums, concerts, sporting events and
great food just as much as anybody else.
I would like to visit more often and promote the city...
but I refuse to promote crime-fear and decay.
I remember back in the day my grandmother
would take me shopping downtown to buy clothes
and maybe a toy was in it for me..
Just her saying "downtown" brought
an instant smile to my face.
Now when I hear it, I don't smile..
I think of Death, drugs
and midnight's children playing hopscotch
on glass studded streets.
With a rat a tat tat in the background.
Pritzker stripped crappers from his mansion
to avoid paying property taxes
while people are locked down
he's out painting chi town
the blue collar man will pick up his tab

I, hate like hell that I offended you.
My Chi-Town sisters, family, and crew.
Namely Krystal and Debra, my family for life.
I’ve never been known to do much of anything right.
But, here I stand, asking for your forgiveness.
For a brother who was wrong, still while he lives.
I truly wish I could hug you once again.
Feel that, which I could call my very best friends.
It is a lonely world, trying to exist without you.
From a boy to a girl, my misery is true.
I, hate like hell that we don’t talk anymore.
It’s a feeling that I can feel for sure.
Since our departure, I have never forgotten you.
My strong, black sisters from the Chicago crew.
Maybe one day you’ll read about the love I have.
For my Chicago sisters, and my despicable past.
What an occasion – a Washington inauguration,
A second one of the first US President,
Of color. The occasion more than merely exciting,
Memorial,
Historic,
Groundbreaking!
A Chi-Town girl of color,
A participant, an honoree:
She was –
Young,
Gifted, and
Black.
She went home, to be heard from never again,
Gunned down,
Like stalked prey.
In the street.
The reaction? We shook our heads:
“What a shame”.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
A Chi-Town man,
[Three] decades long,
Taught,
Encouraged,
Molded,
Hugged,
Excited,
Dozens of Chi-Town’s kids,
His/Their work, discipline, talent,
Exposed nationally,
Their Angelic voices,
Exciting,
Memorable,
Premiered.
Chi-Town, merely days afterward,
Again,
Enveloped violently; massively.
The message? Evil speaks.
“You can have your pretty talented little back girls”,
“You can have your decades long workers”, . . . but,
I got this!!!
The message? For evil to flourish, all it takes,
Is for many good Men/(Wo)men to do,
Nothing. Alfreda Williamson, ©9/20/2013

There has grown a sports tradition,
On the west side of Chi-town.
Where a theam that played at Roundball,
Had taken man a crown.
From the parquet floor of Boston,
To the Hive down Charlotte way.
Then there's the Garden in New York,
And the Twin City dome where the Timberwolves play.
In these and other cities,
Fans often watched in awe.
As their teams were thrown into the Bull Pen,
And came out sore and raw.
Whille in Chicago the press hailed them,
As "Raging Bulls" or "Jordanaires".
As in their wake of victories,
Were left nothing but wide eyed stares.
The cast changed over those years,
But the results were still the same.
For at the center of that exciting team,
One man led them to win the game.
He left an impression on this country,
From the oldest fan to the youngest tyke.
His example of winning with excellence,
Made us all, "Want to be Like Mike".
