RENEWED

A lifeless cloud, aloft invisible air
   Blows Eastward;
  A destination Fate had prepared.
                 Renewed;
        Is a bludgeoned heart,
 No longer fueled  by loneliness and despair.

are the memories
All that’s left
still unclaimed
All that I treasure
lay buried inside
All in those choices

May I have the pleasure of this dance?
I hope I have a better chance
than the sliding snail you see and stalk, 
slowly slinking on the sidewalk.

The Chance You Get

Take that chance every chance you get,
fall on your face and then forget,
live your life without regret,
take that chance every chance you get.

More risk by far to never make the run,
and lose your dreams one by one,
and forgetting each until you’re done.

Rather rise and embrace each day,
another step on your chosen way,
there’s no better time

First time around, I slowly locked
him out and threw away the keys.
Memories of him fell like Autumn leaves.
In reality, he was a father that I thought
I really knew. But in reality, he was also
a father I never really knew.

It was when I was shown a different view

Mistakes are made each day
By each and everyone
And maybe everyone gets to try again

They think they'll get a chance
To right the wrongs they made

I have seen the sky begin again,
After storms had bruised its face—
A tender hush, a breathless hush,
That made the world a softer place.

The river does not hold regret,
It carves new songs through stone and sand,
And every willow learns to bend,
When winter presses on the land.

chances of me leaving home
chances of me donning blues
chances of me wearing a flight suit
chances of me being chosen
     to carry the sports flag
chances of me staying

what chance do I have to find love
chances of living a life apart
     from what I had known

chances of being whistled

Wasting Time

Days fly by
We've created our own version of time
Foggy memories seep through our brains
Been known the definition of insane
But still playing the same old game
Just because reality is sometimes too lame
Problems just seem to appear
An we're the only ones to blame
It's time for a change
Fear keeps us in the same old lane

Morning starts early, before it gets light
Opening cupboards, to see what’s in store

Thou hast knocked
thrown thy rocks 
at my window

Perhaps open heart surgery
a sharp tool required
to get thru decades of barricades

the ship that sailed is docking 
the mutiny so long ago

Daylight shines like miracle in my face
and I have to complete the final race
the weather is fine and I just cannot
get you off my mind, I am lost in the
depth of the sea and there is no one
and there is no one there to rescue me

The waves are tossing me up and down

Mindless tv
Constant dull drone
Not a test pattern but nearly as boring
I am no longer living a human life
My recliner is my coffin
I die a slow death
Sleeping on the couch

A veteran who served this land   
Employed by a sofa shop    
In Bethesda, Maryland    
Made an afternoon delivery stop    

Lovely lady came to the door    
Wearing provocative dress      
He put the couch on the floor
