It’s a treasure to have a friend like Charlie Brown
who can be serious and just as easily be a clown
he’s resourceful and never gives up
he’d drink champagne out of a used paper cup

Premium Member An Uncertain History of Champagne

Just how champagne came to be
opinions vary and there are many.
The French insist it was no mistake
like all great art they highly rate;
indeed, a felicitous coupling
of skill and savoir faire* resulting
in a tingling bubbly effervescence
rocketed champagne to prominence.
(Other stories and less discreet
explain the wine maker fell asleep
and thus the fermentation
exceeded normal maturation.)
The French even claim to know the name
of him who gave the wine its fame,
(a lowly monk named Dom Pérignon),
who described it as a phenomenon
akin to “drinking the stars,” an epithet
as valid today as when he first sipped it.

*Savoir faire = Know-how

Time For Champagne

Lost in haze of her dusky eyes
My senses all overpowered
Nudging me for more bright hours
Of quiet, sparkling connections;
Part of wine's bubbly enticement.

Loving being bubbly-lavished;
May I have my flute replenished?
Never have I felt so special -
Overflowing with lush delight.
Ply me with sweetness all night long.

Premium Member Time for Champagne

Like the course of bubbling rivers
Meander to the ocean's breast,
Never has my journey faltered,
Obsessed with where the sunset rests~
Perfection plunges to the sea...

TIME FOR CHAMPAGNE

TIME FOR CHAMPAGNE

Louis Roederer will do great
Moet and Chandon is okay
No Prosecco can be served here
Only the very best will do
Pol Roger will be fine with me

Time for Champagne

Love will always end in heartbreak,
Maybe only for me, at least.
Now I sit and drink by myself,
Out in the bleak night, my eyes stare,
Putting the pain into champagne.

Time for Champagne

Laurent-Perrier cuvée brut,
Moet et Chandon follows suit,
Nicolas Feuillatte: brand is moot!
Only Krug is banned (too much loot).
Pommery, you will agree, is beaut!

Time for champagne

Lift the champagne glass for a toast,
Make the night sparkle with delight.
Neither of us will sleep till dawn—
On our bed, love waits patiently.
Please, let’s not break the vow we made.

Celebration begins,
Charcuterie boards and
Chilled bottles of champagne.
Chilled champagne poured, served in
Coupe, flute, tulip glasses,
Creates bubbles and fizz.
Cheers, raise glasses and sip.

Catchphrase at midnight hour.

A Romantic Setting

The gentle glow of candlelight
A glass of champagne to uplift my spirit
The hypnotic strains of Mozart in the background
Moonlight streaming through the open window
A soft breeze caressing my skin
Transport me to a romantic mood
When sweet poetry flows through my pen..
