Fingerprints

Because this grief doesnt end, it touches everything, it leaves fingerprints on even the brightest of days
Smudging out the sun
my fleeting smiles are marked by its guilt, its gravity, behind every happiness I feel  the ropes tightening again
Im like a marionette governed by the weight of it, seconds away from being pulled back inside myself
To the big empty in the center of my being ,where it begs me to sit ,dipping my toes into its cold blackness

God Will Never Leave Me

Author Dana Redricks
May 6, 2023

In the darkest of nights and the brightest of days, God promised to guide me in all of my ways. No matter the path that I may choose,
His love and protection I will never lose. His love is everlasting, and never will it change. He calms the storms keeping me safe in His loving arms.

Through the storms that life may bring, God promised to hold me under His loving wings forever so closely. When I feel lost and alone, He reminds me that I am His own, and that I'm never alone.

Though the trials may be hard to bear, God promised to give me the strength to share. With His guidance and His grace, I can overcome anything that I may face.

With every step, He is by my side, He is my constant companion, my faithful guide. No, never alone, for I am His own, God promised to keep me and never leave me alone.

Equanimity

Equanimity – mental calmness, composure, and evenness of temper, especially in a difficult situation

Euphoric moments
Balanced by the darkest of nights
One without the other
Loses perspective – like a ship without a beacon of light

Our lives can flourish
When we acknowledge the pain
To fight the inevitable
Drives the strongest insane

So don’t fill up with pride
On the brightest of days
But don’t fall in a hole
When things don’t go your way

Have patience
Live life to the fullest - passionately
Breathe deep
Equanimity

Heartbreak

I dwell deep within your soul,
Radiating feelings of young and old.
On the brightest of days,
You don’t remember me.
In the darkest of times,
I lurk on the brink of your mind.
Taunting and waiting,
For events to unfold.
Allowing me to wreak havoc,
As your heart implodes.

As It Is In Heaven

I saw a place in dreams, when life ends I would go.
a place where the reaping, comes from that which you sow.
The people were shining, with a gleam in their eye,
when I asked where I was, they just smiled with a sigh.

A hint of patchouli, rising up in the air,
an angel walking by, with flowers in her hair.
Each breath I would take, easier than before.
to underscore my joy, as my spirit would soar.

The beauty of this place, with it's colors so bright,
a land where goodness reigns, and banishes the night.
A joy overwhelmed me, no longer would I roam,
when I then realized, I was finally home.

Then there was a rising, a sun with shining rays,
a light that was brighter, than the brightest of days.
My memory returned, like Noah's famous dove,
born a child of god, by the power of love!

Adrift In the Wind

There is too much ancestry coursing my soul
to do me any real good

To live in a cave on a deserted island
  my destiny best understood

Success once achieved is cast far aside
its burden to hamper my play

Genealogy stalks and preys as it looms
to darken those brightest of days

Each block lay unstacked as I run off again
  my freedom left calling within

My soul unattached to the gifts I step over
—all fame left adrift in the wind

Lost

In the brightest of days gloom consumed it. In the darkest of places, We no longer can run from it. Thinking that bottling it up was going to fix it. Putting it off was just to stall couldn't do that no more. Manipulating could only  take you so far. Blaming others was natural for them. Knowing that they couldn't even  comprehend the truth. Wanting to believe that our faith in them was still strong. Only to watch as they try and destroy us. Always Remembering that this ain't like them and give them time. Only time passed and they continue to be the monster. How I spent many night tearing myself down, that the tears flow and haven't stopped. They were able to break me down with the shame I already carried, they made there shame part of mine. Thinking that I must deserve what they have for me. Feeling like dying seem easier then feeling. How easily it was for them to act. As of life was just a game, and we are  the next consistent to  play

Reach For Me

I have always been with you my love
In the darkest of nights and brightest of days
I have followed your soul to the very corners of the earth
I have felt your pain, heard your cries
And there I have always been
Never gone, but always within grasp

All you need to do is reach for me
I've felt your heart beat within my own chest
And have felt the soft rhythm of you all around me
In the wind, through the rain, through my every heartbeat
I have felt your existence
Always close to me
So you see I am never far
Even when we are apart, I am but a heartbeat away
Always reaching, always listening
Always ready to reach for you

If we are apart
And your heart is weary and alone
Reach for me my love
And you will always find me there
Buried deep within your soul

So you see my love
You are never alone
For I am always there with you

Shadows

Shadows of moments
lived together
still afresh as dew drops,

Memories beyond time
sway in my mind
the shadows engraved,

The brightest of days
come and go
leaving them untouched,

I chase these shadows afar
running behind
gasping for breath always,

Watch them distancing
furthermore
as I am about to reach,

The thirst thrives with hope
in a desert
mirage keeps it moving,

Shadows to my soul's heart
lengthen and nourish
no lonesomeness prevails !

Sunset

Measure me son, for the man I was.
My sunset has come, and the man to dust.
If I had the time, I would light your day.
But even the brightest can fade away.

I leave you now, the colors of end,
the beauty of death and a day well spent.
The darkness will come, don't be afraid,
as your light will shine, and then it will fade.

A world cannot live on light alone.
A man has a future and then he is old.
Show your warmth and touching rays,
and be remembered as the brightest of days.

Echos

Echos

The voices of the past which echo in
our heads, the ones that we keep
deeply and secretly locked up in our
subconscious souls. The ones that creep
back out on gentle winds, on the
brightest of days when the rustling of
the leaves cannot subdue the loud
screams of their tortured calls. The
tides of emotion which ebb and flow
with each resilient burst, we must
quickly try to keep at bay. For those
voices so distant, so far away, corrupt
the dreams we dream today. They do
not fit into our visions, they don't
conform to our desires, and have no
concern of future unknowns. But yet
they still travel with us and they are
there to remind us. That sometimes it
is better to let go.

How Do I Love You

How do I love you? In so many ways
From the darkest of nights, to the brightest of days

In my loneliness hour, when no one is there
I fee the embrace that you so freely share

I feel so full, that often I weep
You are with me, even when I sleep

You give me a conscious, so I can be straight
because of you, I don't focus on hate

I believe that people are basically good
They have reason to be misunderstood

Life is not easy, but now I see
each day you become closer to me

People may doubt my devotion to you
I've even been laughed at, it's true

I really don't care how other people feel
My love for you is constant and very real

How do I love you? With every breath
In this life and surely after death

Forest of Fear

The blackest of nights
The brightest of days
Wandering the woods
I have lost my way
Sealing my fate
By approaching a large gate
My visions run by
At a very fast rate
Time has passed quickly
I have to move swiftly
Screaming out loud
Hearing nevermore
My thoughts have vanished
As I crash through a door
Falling to Earth's core
Now I have realized
The world is silent
And so are my cries...
