Best Wedding Day Poems
The date was set and the church booked up
Invitations sent out, colors picked, and a hall for the sup.
The bridesmaids and groomsmen had all been chosen
For the date for us on the calendar was now frozen.
The Maid of Honor could only one person be
The Best Man knew this day would be crazy.
For all of the planning, the work, and the tension
Would culminate in this day of anticipation.
The minister counseled us and helped us to plan
But the burden was on us, for this day to span.
We wanted everyone to be as happy with us today
That's why we took so long to plan it this way.
The floweres trimmed the aisle along the carpet white
While all our family and friends dressed festively tonight.
The music started to play as the couples walked the aisle
I was reminded not to cry, instead to give a big smile.
It was my turn to walk the walk now
"Don't slip, don't trip, don't cause a row.
It's the day of the wedding and there is my peer
One question remains, "What am I doing here?"
I do promise to always to true
I do give my heart and soul to you
Together we will always be
And face whatever will be
I take you for better or worse
You fill this need in me for which I thirst
I take you for rich or poor
And each day I only love you more
In sickness and health
For with you I have all my wealth
To love and honor all the days of my life
This I pledge to you this day as I become your wife
You and I become one today,
And as we stand here today holding hands, we end a chapter in our book
And as I look into your eyes saying these words a new one begins.
You are my best friend, my soul mate, my lover, my hero, and my prince.
I will always be there for you.
For when you cry ill be your shoulder you lean on,
And if you start to fall I’ll be there to catch you.
For when your happy ill be the smile you see.
And if your sad ill be the one that makes you laugh.
For when your sick ill be your aid that makes it go away
And for the small times that we might be apart,
I will never stop thinking about you.
You’re in my heart always and forever,
And I love you more than life itself.
And each day I thank god that we found one another.
He stopped his father in the drive
put his hand on his fathers arm
"I'm not sure" he started to say
"this marriage is for me"
His father looked him over - this son
this youngest of all his children
the sweetest brightest one of all
about to ruin his life
"Dont then" he said "stop it now, or you'll
bring children you can't abide.
Resentment will ruin everything
that you are inside.
She'll deny you love
she'll poision your soul
She's a blood sucking ***** from hell
no one's going to tell you
no one's going to say
that not one of us can stand her
she's really in the way."
Then the light snapped on.
Wedding day.
My wedding day of hallowed rest. My Lord —
not too soon nor too late. My eyes looked up
and danced as He descended and I rose.
Oh look! I smile! O gentle son of God.
The praise of lifted hands - the joy of church.
Forth jubilee good angels longed to see.
The day is here! Clean cut - our groom has come
and we rejoice above the earth so far
from grace. How long despairing chins of hate.
But we adore the groom — we are his bride!

On this day two will become one..
Never to walk again, this world alone..
You will vow to hold each other near..
Through bad and good times, each one wiping away the other's tears..
God will shine down his brightest ray..
The angels will sing with thunderous joy on this perfect day.
The bride will glow brighter than the stars at night..
The groom tall and handsome, glowing with the candlelight..
The two will dance all through the night..
Love shining through each hug and kiss, embracing each other tight..
God and his angels rejoicing above..
Celebrating the beauty of their love..
Angels spreading their gold dust on this new journey they begin today..
Guding them through life's journey each and every day..
Keeping their love strong for each other--never to stray away..
I opened my eyes and you were there
I cried for the first time, you still were
I looked up at you as I crawled on the floor
So happy you were, running through the door
I stood up on my feet and followed your footsteps
Innocently smiling, you watched as I made my first steps
We both grew older and started the fights
Still we’d play and laugh on hot summer nights
And on dark freezing winter days,
I’d fall asleep in your warm embrace
A real best friend I’ve found in you
Like a mother’s love; so sweet, so true
How lucky I was, life seemed so fair
Smothered with tremendous love and care
You taught me how love can be unconditional
You showed me such love was real, not fictional
You showed me how in two bodies one soul can dwell
And what it meant to be a sister’s protective shell
Sharing my life with you has been a great pleasure
Our sisterhood will remain my truly greatest treasure
You’ve now become a beautiful bride
And I look at you with indescribable pride
I wish you a lifetime full of love and delight
I wish to always see your smile shining so bright
Just a Wedding Day
Oh, hear the wedding bells peal out to ring
They clang as if they have no heart to sing
The groom arrives, splendoured in tailed suit
A masquerade that shields a thuggish brute
The parents meeting, warmly shaking hands
Judging; which, the most they cannot stand
The lady guests file in with happy strides
Rueing still the day that they were brides
Here comes the bride, beaming down the aisle
When her bouquet is thrown, so is, her smile
Bridesmaids, they all insist, they are steadfast
Best man repeats aunt’s words “It will not last”
With sincerity, the groom, he says, “I do”
Whilst keeping eye on Sandra in the pew
The vicar smiles with joy and yet beneath
That smile, for the pair, he holds a wreath
United, smiling cheese, they are photo’d
The camera clicks at families juxtaposed.
My last unmarried granddaughter
Is walking up the aisle tonight.
They pledge their love with fervent vows.
I say a prayer as they unite.
Dear Lord, don't let her new love fail
To always keep his solemn word,
To cherish her through out the years.
He's promised and we all have heard.
She is so beautiful, this child
I've loved from her first day of life.
I wonder if he knows the worth
Of girl he's taking for his wife.
Her loving parents know they must
Now let them find their own pathway.
They've guided her and taught her well,
Their job is done, this wedding day.

Wedding Day
I can say that I had a bit of a headache.
We should have had more drinkers
If we planned to float the keg.
I left in plenty of time...to be on time.
I had my tuxedo complete with shoes.
And, maybe those aspirin would do the job!
Well she was upset...There's no such thing as 'on time'!
Lots of pictures needed to be taken...
This day must be recorded...not repeated!
My brother...the Best Man...forgot his tux!
He wore Robert's...another brother.
I felt bad for him.
I'll never forget standing up front
Waiting for her to enter.
Then they played the song.
I didn't have a headache anymore.
She was BEAUTIFUL....
Of course!
I watched as she approached with her dad.
He looked relieved to put her hand in mine.
It was like a foreboding moment...
But don't worry...It's all been good!
I just wish she could forgive me
For forgetting my street shoes!
When we left the reception
With me in my tux shoes,
Johnny gave me his mastercard,
"Put the motel on this," he said.
Good thing - I had One Hundred Thirty
Dollars to my name!
We drove straight to our little duplex
And spent the first night together...
We were so tired, we went straight to sleep.
We would have wedding cake for breakfast!
The rest of the story is yet unwritten,
But so far...So good!

Many many years ago
When I was very small
We attended a wedding in Amsterdam
This memory I recall
Jan and Astrid had got married
Balloons decorated the wedding hall
Wedding favours were scattered on the table …
Sugared almonds, I could have eaten them all!
The wedding breakfast was served
We had all enjoyed a tasty meal
Soon it was time to cut the cake
Something sweet would be ideal
The wedding cake was ‘wheeled’ in
I couldn’t believe my eyes
Tier upon tier of ice cream cake
My mouth dropped open in surprise
To this very day I have never seen
A wedding cake made of ice cream!
This is a true story
FYI ‘Jan’ is a male name meaning John and is pronounced Yann or Yaan in Dutch

She cried at the wedding ceremony
Happy tears, like beautiful peonies
They didn't wed
Like she had said
So she won a ton of U O Me's.
Marriage – our commitment for LIFE as husband and wife
It wasn’t a leap year when I proposed to you
But I'd got down on one knee, as it’s traditional to do!
We organised and paid for our own wedding day
This meant we had control and could do it ‘our' way
We got married two years to the day from our very first date
Both of us bubbling over with excitement, we just couldn’t wait
My hair was perfect, make up and manicure too
I wanted to look absolutely beautiful for you
The dress was of pretty peach, not a formal wedding dress
I’m not one for fussy frills and flounces I must confess
You wore a charcoal coloured suit and looked so very smart
Our vows committed us forever – I love you with all my heart
After our registry office ceremony we had a lovely meal
A carvery for close family and friends, the venue was ideal
We held a huge party for 300 guests later on that night
Our wedding day was perfect everything turned out right
The wedding night was spent at a beautiful local hotel
On learning it was our wedding day they really did excel
They upgraded us free of charge to their honeymoon suite
With champagne and chocolates and fresh fruit to eat
