Dutch Wedding Day Dessert

Many many years ago When I was very small We attended a wedding in Amsterdam This memory I recall Jan and Astrid had got married Balloons decorated the wedding hall Wedding favours were scattered on the table … Sugared almonds, I could have eaten them all! The wedding breakfast was served We had all enjoyed a tasty meal Soon it was time to cut the cake Something sweet would be ideal The wedding cake was ‘wheeled’ in I couldn’t believe my eyes Tier upon tier of ice cream cake My mouth dropped open in surprise To this very day I have never seen A wedding cake made of ice cream! This is a true story FYI ‘Jan’ is a male name meaning John and is pronounced Yann or Yaan in Dutch 12~18~15 Contest combination of three words List 2 chosen – dessert, a memory you have, balloons Sponsored by Laura Loo

Thank you so much for the lovely comment Rahy I wish we had a photograph - I was only about 5 or 6 at the time but to this day mum and I still talk about Amsterdam and the many times we visited -mum's memory of the past is so clear yet her short term memory is going. Mum had a pen pal 'Ans' and we used to go over to stay with her and her family about 4 or 5 times a year - Jan is their eldest son:-) hugs jan xx
