Best Unicorns Poems
So far I've done everything I could possibly do this year.
I've given thorough thought to cleaning up my act.
These early-day hours have been rough-house
The storm shudders inside me are all grimy, they need tending to,
I just need to find them first.
So tired from last night,
Riding unicorns through the stars.
(No one believes me.)
Trouble is we're all blinking too fast for our own good as it is.
I've done everything I've promised to do this year, so far,
And I haven't even made the promises yet.
That's how interesting I've been lately.
You have no idea how hard it is to be this interesting.
Riding Bellyglow through the thrushes of song birds...
I probably don't know, either.
What a bucket of letters this is.
Thanks for Peking, thanks for Hong Kong.
Happy New Year.
Creature of myths and legends
most deny that you ever exist
yet time after time you reappear
history the world wide names you
Depicts you with spiral single horn
gleaming white starry coat
its said only in a virgin you trust
when you will lay your head
In her lap as she tames
your ferocity and wildness
only then can you be caught
yet should we capture you?
Is it not best to leave you free?
some things are best left alone
never to be proved as fact
I know I believe you to be real
Yet a wondrous creature living hidden
that forever free and wild should be
allowed to roam in our minds and hearts
bringing hope and joy to future generations

The unicorn is a legendary animal from European folklore that resembles a white horse with a large, pointed, spiralling horn projecting from its forehead, and cloven hooves. First mentioned by the ancient Greeks, it became the most important imaginary animal of the Middle Ages and Renaissance when it was commonly described as an extremely wild woodland creature, a symbol of purity and grace, which could only be captured by a virgin. In the encyclopedias its horn was said to have the power to render poisoned water potable and to heal sickness.

I've heard rumors of unicorns
Seen only by the faithful sworn
Rising in glories you foretold
From valleys where oceans are born
You spoke of passages in gold
To take, if my vision was bold
Enough to follow where you led
Unquestioning, into the cold
I fell for promises unsaid
Surrendered to you every shred
Of light and beauty I once had
And to your dark delusions wed
We left as sun-blinded nomads
Criss crossing straight lines into plaid
As I remembered what I knew
Truth re-emerged, brightly unclad
I could pretend that red is blue
I could declare my heart stayed true
I could deny the voice of doubt
But I can't lie as well as you

When we are small
We believe love will cure all
That good deeds go unpunished
That our dreams will fully flourish.
When we grow up we are pessimists
Flaws in all things exists
People let you down
And all smiles turn into frowns.
But I want to hold on to sunshine
To rainbows, unicorns, all things magically divine.
I want to hold on to you,
Because love and dreams can come true.
I love our childish ways
Gummy bears and cartoons on Sundays
Pizza boxes, no plate
Still believing in what brought us together; fate

You found me here
Broken and hurting
Your eyes are sad
Where do you come from?
This place is far
Far from all this madness
All these people
Running without
Meaningful destination
They do not listen
They do not see
But you do
And I
Can I please climb your back
And you carry me
Away from here?
And while we walk
I shed my tears
I shed my pain
And grow my wings
You grow your horn
And then we run
And then we run
Eves light standing
a wish made
the unicorn guardian
blessed be !
holding a babe
————–
In cradled wing
and grasping mane
astride my friend
We morphed again
Up and out
through atmosphere
on my winged ride
and loyal seer
Taking a right
around the moon
to the universe
becoming attuned
Gathering speed
smearing starlight
A unicorns mist
across midnight
Easing to stretch
amongst her mane
twin spirits we ,
are bound remain
Shoot to naught
the empty blackness
my eternal night
comfortably endless
Shifting again
beauties wing-back
homeward bound
our newest tack
Spinning to light
connecting stars
my unicorns magic
flashed away mars
A pass ahead
try not to fight
closing my eyes
I dream the night
Now don't think me mad
Or one of those crazy chicks
Because I believe that Unicorns
Really did exist
Don't roll your eyes
Or make that face
Just humour me
And I will make my case
You see I was one of "those"
A horse crazed girl
And for my grade six science fair
The Horse
Its history I did unfurl
From the dog sized Eocene Eohippus
Family lines that include the Tapir
To lineage linked to the Rhinoceros
I ask
Can you assert without fear
That an equine beast with a single horn
In the forest did not disappear
As the rhino's horn is made of hair
It is possible no fossils would be found
So on my faith that The Unicorn
Did exist (and might still)
I firmly stand my ground.

Build an ark out of gopher wood that’s what I want from you.
Noah said he would to God and he and his sons set out to do.
Take two of all the animals of the unclean variety
But seven of the clean kind, are you listening Noah to me?
Yes lord I hear you, and I will do your Will.
Can you tell me how long before, the water the earth will fill?
Build the ark now Noah, and do not question me
You have a huge task ahead, and I will save your family.
The ark now built, the pitch spread, the unclean animals passed two by two
The pigs the camels and unclean ones, for food I do not give to you.
As for the clean ones, take seven of each I say
And then there will be food for you, when you leave the ark one day.
But what about the unicorn God, they are so hard to find?
I am afraid then Noah, said God, that he must be left behind.
If we find another though, is it a beast unclean or clean
Would we need seven or two, I am not sure what you mean?
If you find another one Noah, the rains I will keep away
Because I am now telling you. the last one has flown today
Oh my Lord why is that, the unicorn is so fine
Yes, said God to Noah, and that’s why he is mine.

jewel encrusted
icicles hang, glistening
awaiting spring's warmth
Unicorn float stuck
Unicorn startups' luck
Little Lindy always wanted to touch a star,
But they were all too high and much too far.
She knew her magic unicorn had wings to fly
so on her friend she soared up into the sky.
Lindy decided she should walk on the moon
and floated past clouds in a big red balloon.
When she got there, she saw animals in a zoo,
and a talking parrot said, "How do you do?"
In the morning, Lindy saw a beautiful rainbow
with seven very pretty colors, row after row.
They sparkled in the early morning sunlight.
She would look for rainbow in a dream tonight.

Wings of golden yellow, orange and red and black
Fluttered past my lazy body as I laid upon my back
I watched it flitter about flowers in splendid bloom
As Spring turned into Summer on the 21st day of June
Then it landed on a flower, whose likes I'd never seen
Multi-colored petals from a stalk of aquamarine
And when it flew away, a rainbow trailed behind
Its colors shining so brightly it nearly made me blind
I got up to chase the butterfly following the rainbow trail
Across the flowered meadow into a strange new vale
When I stopped to catch my breath and took a look around
A beautiful white unicorn is the sight I found
She drank from a sparkling stream of water pure and clear
She startled just a little bit as I started to get near
I reached out my hand, to stroke her silken mane
When I woke up in the meadow from the drops of falling rain
Unicorns - are they all just in my illusive dreams?
If I’ll see them, I’ll be much delighted and I’ll scream,
Once I saw them up above, just up there over my head
They’re the heart of constellation and I wasn’t misled.
Oh, how I love to ride at the back of those unicorns!
In the sky, they look like flying at the gleams of the moon,
Hovering above the clouds, I’ll look down with exhilaration
I’ll overcome my fears and get more strength to carry on.
I wish, I’ll not yet wake up in this dream of mine,
As I keep on riding on those amazing and one lovely kind
Like a Queen of Heaven with one mighty sword on my hand,
Even worst enemies will bow offering humbly their crown.
The unicorns are also real, they are found in the heart,
They’re white and dainty, just trust and don’t give a doubt
For their love is real, giving it straight like their spiral horn,
When pierced they can endure, a gift when they were born.

I am dedicating this poem to my dear friend, PD on her BIRTHDAY, OCTOBER 7, 2012. Here are lovely and mighty libran unicorns for you with their lovely queen!(smile). I am looking forward for your great and lovely Natal Day!
Nothing is too strange
To be a reality
Of childhood's wonder
For pd's Unicorn contest took 5th place
Well son...
It all began in Fairyland
In the lab of the mystical toads
As trash throughout the land had gotten way out of hand
Along side of the pixie dust roads
The system they had wasn't working
Leaving empty all the garbage cans
And everyone of the Fairies backs were hurting
Bending over picking all of the trash
In an off the wall guess Teddy Toad thought of this
Something the Fairies all liked
A horn on a horse as a matter of course
Then the trash men could go along for the ride
So they took a horse and Duct taped a horn
Cause we all know Duct tape works wonders
But it never fit right in its slip and its slide
In the taping of over and under
Science soon prevailed in the cell from the horn of a cow
Mixing it up with one from a horse
Purely by accident they just happened to chance
Upon what is now the Unicorn
Who's very first job was giving litter a nod
In helping to keep the streets clean
But before too long the Unicorn evolved
In the preforming of different activities
From the up turn of nose in sneezing rainbows
In the prettiest of sunny weather
To giving kids rides as they grew wings to fly
The ones mixed with birds of a feather
Or the burping of clouds when they opened their mouths
That only know how to rain Skittles
That sometimes floods the streets in candy knee deep
Running sugar sweet straight down the middle
So if you're ever confused on how Unicorns were first used
Or had any doubt to how they came about
You can set your mind at ease
You now know they were created because Fairies all hated
Bending over picking trash off the streets
Goodnight son, sweet dreams...
