Swirling In Winter's Flurry

                        *               *
Gently, they swirled about in Winter's frigid wind
No two were identical, none were ever twinned
Each ice crystal, a pristine beauty transcending
Tumbling from clouded gray skies, softly descending

       *                  *           *
I frolicked among them, as amused as a child
Infused with wonderment and totally beguiled
Tree limbs brocaded, deeply embellished with snow
So beautifully they glistened with lucent glow

                              *                          *
How quickly it gathered on rooftops and hedges
Wafting, free-spirited, collecting on ledges
Down, they continued twirling in a tranquil scene
Etched in memory as idyllic and serene
*               *                                 *
                            *
I was enamored and enthralled as it drifted
Toward heaven, my eyes were gratefully lifted
As each flake so elegantly fell to the ground
Creating a dreamscape without making a sound
             *                                    *
                                      *
Like dainty birds, they fluttered in such a hurry
a flock of crystal snowflakes, in Winter's flurry
My world was blanketed by a quilt of pure white
Tonight it would sparkle brilliantly in starlight!

I woke this morning to the sound of sleet tapping on my windows but after several minutes there had been a hush. I looked out and saw a soft blanket of snow. Not in itself cause for wonder, but in New Orleans it's very unusual. It was only a couple of inches, but it was the impetus for this write.

          *                   *

They twirled in the swirling wind
     No costume worn, ever twinned
each a beauty that transcends ~
each crystal from the sky descends

I danced among them like a child
filled with wonder, I was beguiled
until I realized and sorrowfully felt
my touch was spurring them to melt

From my window I watched, enthralled
as feathery fliers they lay sprawled
safe from the heated warmth of me
a flock of snowflakes, a Winter flurry

Children of Paradise

Heaven must yield to glory
Accept our orphaned children
Come light gentle bathe
These black forgotten corridors

Distorted images of death
Dance imperious before our eyes
Struggling to live right
Surviving the darkened dread

In the calm balm of amnesia
We float in carefree laughter
Defying the anchoring ache
Inhaling expectant death
Exhaling desired life

Walking the dichotomous path
Twinned joy and pain
Offspring at heaven’s door
Inheritors lost upon this earth
Seeking to reclaim the future

Bastard products of despair
We live in the dark alleys of history
The sunless realms of loneliness
The blind lanes of misery
Mystic impossibility
We claim divine birth rights

Watching deep into midnight
For the promised sunrise
Insipid timid reality
In disfigured disguise
Life is stone and bone
For the children of paradise

Premium Member Waltz Until Moonrise

With charming words you behest
the imps of fairytale lore
to decorate my hope chest
with golden laughter galore.

You hold me close as we dance cheek to cheek,
the fae in the band give music a tweak,
we waltz until moonrise, salsa til dawn,
and wonder-struck at how fast time has gone.

Then in the distance storm clouds are coming,
you laugh and embrace the cold wind
blowing in and chumming~
evil is twinned…
hell!

‘Sankofa’ In 'Safranbolu'

This bird from Ghana’s legends flies forward looking backward
In the Twi language twinned with indigenous souls and wisdom
the feathered friend suggests to go back and get it and I suppose
some fly backwards while looking ahead but then life is not only
Chronos but 'Kairos' with the meter entwined and composed

At this precise moment not alone in this moving instant it waves
and oscillates conjoining what was and will be when the present
is the past in a flash and one cannot step into the same river again
yet the future is shaped by the past the here and now a 'Kairometer'
transcending artefacts and boundaries into ‘truths’ and reality

The bird flies and time flows back and beyond near and far
further on wings and pinions with roots at heart

In ‘Safranbolu’ the ancient Ottoman town on the Black Sea Coast
and thus close to Ghana in real time place and connection
the old man had been tending the clock in the tower both man and
the turret free standing and wise still present and one
‘Seventy years’ as he explained pendulum hands and the wheels

What memories pride mechanics precision preserved aspiration and
dignity flying into the face of the clock and the distortions of time

Mustafa had climbed those steps so often had rung the bell
oiled the time keeper had not forgotten a day of his duties
had become one with the time piece and stood still many times
in awe of monument and pacing the sleepy old town yet
he flew forward so peacefully looking back in retrospect and respect

He has watched birds history duration impermanence imprinting the
meaning of a life worthy of living in honour of what is the present

20th November in all past and future revisited

Sexy Love

Some say that love is when our rivers join on cotton sheets in mounting passion
when you and I share days and nights with Venus’ delta freely flowing
advance our bodies candlelit caress desires fit and fitting in all the latest fashion
when mingling waters splash the rocks and roll on tidal beaches growing
position musky gushes’ swelling delights’ passages in carefree physical obsession
when springs let loose in coasting caves change blushes into glowing
and we fulfil crescendo’s rhythmic interludes but do mistake loving for possession

Hard truths await when rivers dry turn flaccid stagnant trickle’s scorch our beds
when climate change in our hearts and mating souls abandoned lie exposed
our union built on quick sand crumbling walls fancy contortions immaturely spread
when flaking righteousness only amounts to shallow promises disposed
reveals the hidden secret of why rainy storm clouds erode the lover’s mindless head
when then and how and where the thirsty moonless plights are loathed
that reckoning deserves some thought when all else has been done and said

Sometimes our rivers flow below the earthy needs and wants flown in the wind
when fire’s pleasures kindled spirits need to join beyond sexual application
and thus all sensual heartfelt feelings have to be twined and twinned
when kindness compassion consideration might super-cede awesome copulation
the biggest phallus shapely **** augmented egos and shapely waistlines trimmed
when thinking conversations holding each firmly outweighs the grandest fornication
and then the river riders circle to sheet and intercourse in true love never dimmed

Two Haiku and Questionku For Valentines Day

your liquid smile flows
from those soft cherry pink lips
tender as peaches

your sweetness is like
a delicious projection
of all that you are

when I follow your
twinned dancing orbs, am I lost,
or have I been found?

Twin Unlimited ballad

Twinned at birth I shared a moment
Not too much room in the womb remained
Closeted together holding hands we laid
We were birthed apart three minutes in-between
She was named Sandra and I Diane.
It wasn't long before she was called Sandi
And I for reasons you will know 'nick-named' Didee

Nanny named me after what the British called a ‘diaper’!
Sandra became 'Sandi', shortly thereafter rhyming with Didee.
Our nick-names have followed us from kindergarten and up
And today Sandi is GRANNY SANDI And I AUNTY DIANE
But, I remain Didee still, to all my living family and relatives
I was youngest and grew up an introvert and her an extrovert
Times changed and the wild whole world saw to that!

I became myself apart from twin mania; as so did she.
It was in teenage years that we were separated as twins
We were dressed alike and shared many a birthday party
Graduation in grade 8, I chose a frilly dress not Sandi
She wanted a pair of boys blue denim jeans which said a lot
I went feminine with girly wants, nylons, training bras and rollers
And Sandi loved sports of all kinds, bats and balls and bubble gum!

We indeed went our separate ways, me the 'thinker' and her a 'doer'
Today we share senior hood and are still bonded enjoying our lives
I have been gifted with creativity, expressiveness with words and paints
She has been gifted with the gab and expresses herself with thread and cloth
We definitely are of two minds with lives differently spent
But always in one’s shadow, proudly following one another’s gain
Our years nick-named Sandi and Didee are forever stamped in our 'twined' minds!

Premium Member The Girl In the Red Dress

The full moon lit up the night sky
A wisp of cloud passed it by
To add to an eerie atmosphere
As if something gruesome might appear.

The gates to the graveyard groaned in the wind
As did the groans of the grave stones twinned
And the night demons were on the prowl
As the wolf cried out with a harrowing howl.

In the chapel attic a light appeared
And the girl in the red dress everyone feared
Was staring out with blood shot eyes
As the living dead heed her cries.

The door slams open, a priest appears
Holding a silver cross that the demon fears
As the holy water burns the skin
Of a possessed soul steeped in sin.

The ghoulish corpses to the girls demands
Descend on the chapel, as the devil commands
And the sweating brow of the terrified priest
Does little to ward off the devils beasts.

Reciting Latin, the priest persists
As the decomposed bodies in the graveyard mist
Aim to transform him into one of them
So he keeps reciting over and over again.

The girl morphs into the devils form
But the priest refuses to conform
And so with a scream the girl is thrust
Way up high, as she continues to cuss.

‘Lord save this soul’ the priest declares
‘Release this soul from this evil affair
And with this water I purify thee!’
And with that, in an instant, the devil did flee.

It is said that the girl did not perish
But became a nun of the local parish
And yet on every full moon night
It is rumoured that the nun was nowhere in sight.

And so tonight, as you lay in your bed
If you think this chapel is somewhere else instead
Beware as the full moon glows
That the girl in the red dress never shows!!

The Sophia Treasure

“The Sophia Treasure”

The world
turned inside out

And out you came
like a Sophia treasure
sparkling wet and shiny
held in arms pliable
mother of the universe
powerfully cradled
heart piercing
and weaponised
glistening victory

twinned
in reflections

“The Mysteries Remain”(H.D.)

The mysteries remain,
I keep the same
cycle of seed-time
and of sun and rain;
Demeter in the grass,
I multiply,
renew and bless
Bacchus in the vine;
I hold the law,
I keep the mysteries true,
the first of these
to name the living, dead;
I am the wine and bread.
I keep the law,
I hold the mysteries true,
I am the vine,
the branches, you
and you.

Premium Member Lone Hearts

That time often comes when lone hearts
tire of their own song
And crave the sweet tunes of a distant
heart’s beat,
A beat that taken with their own makes
sweet music.
If two such hearts will but touch then
shall they ring anew with sounds most
divine
For while drumbeats are raised by the
strong blows of a stick,
Only one soft touch does raise a heartbeat.

Then can the twinned souls rejoice: “I have
found the one that slips out of my eyes when
I awake and back into them when I sleep;
the one that my eyes follow to the horizon,
and my heart beyond it.
‘Tis such a one as this that can stand at the
bottom of my heart and touch the top of my
mind. Sweet and vast be the years from
our vows to our bows!”

Who do you think I am - Poetry Contest

Birthed special as twins
From a shared womb
We were made to feel special!

My twin was first to let go
 She broke our love knot
 Hurrying to her new freedom!

She waited for me crying
Until I was laid alongside her
In an identical pink warming blanket!

It was my turn to be crying now
Her abandoned cry made silent
Knowing I was with her there!

Inseparables we grew to become as before
Our new home was very 'safe' for two
Twins were to be an indulged oddity then!

So alike and special side by side
We were coveted and blessed
These babies who came from one womb!

We were cherished and adored
Always up in arms side by side
And fed together with spoonfuls of love!

Our sibling sister did follow soon
But shared her blankets alone
She was ‘loved’ for being only one!

We thought her an intruder
She was the star, sun and moon
And selfishly pocket our time-shares!

We needn’t have walked as early as her
We were up 'in arms' for show and tell
And only spoke in our secret tongues!

We were still twins but so spoiled
She walked and talked much earlier
And she was quick to spark on her own!

She learnt survival tools to get on with life
Our security was faulted built out of smoke
Dissipating at its now 'mired' core!

We were on our own and naked
Our identity apart was thin
Time came to us late in hard knocks!

A twin is only birthed as one
Apart and special on its own
Each born to make its own identity!

Twins will be together after death
When their love knot again is twined
And two twinned hands clasp once more!

A Tale of Two In Time

Thus they trust their tale to tell
of two in time, twined and twinned
Travelling this thorny track
But tracing a treasured trail of truth

Though today in tasks and toils to tackle
And trades to take on in throes of tides
Yet also in the tapestry of teeming twists and turns
With thrills and treats, transient and timed

Tomorrow at twilight, to tenderly throw off their troubles
And thankfully take up treasures and trophies
As triumphant tell-tale tunes tickle them to thrills
With Ten thousands times ten thousands
And thousands and thousands
At the threshold of timelessness

BEING HUMAN

Brave she was and searched for light in blinding darkness
Encouraged by intense desire she illuminated odds and evens
Intuitively she knew how madness was insanely normal
Not straying from the path of love and kindness empathy she
Gallivanted meandered in everlasting human passion for the truth

Humble modest and embracing she cast comfort and compassion
Unsurpassed inquisitive kindness and belonging and she ventured
Manifold on many pathways star charts pedalled mutual attraction
At many crossroads halted listened reflected glistened followed heart’s emotion
Never ending moon spoons scooping longing souls embodied Universe

Bestowed upon with gravitation sense and sensual sensation he
Entered entertained a new realm of depth enlightenment and feeling
Intertwined his wings her roots their flights of fancy grounded elevation
Nurtured natured danced nubile naked dreamscapes fantastic fantasy
Gave rise with her together to birth to freedom liberation new beginnings

He liberated consciousness from iron cages of defence rationalization
Unwound some endless loops of gloomy thoughts and doom and
Mastered majestic miracles of letting go releasing gathering complete
And unbelievably mosaic canvass stretching poetry in motion tapestry
Near fairy tale community of clarity togetherness gratitude and joy

Being lost and found in each and other in each other in enterprise
Enchantment and the aura of unexpected unchartered magnitude
Intense illuminated rainbow spectrum’s crimson violet orange indigo
New found mindful mind and minds affection intellectual pheromones
Glowed panoramic mounts and para-mounts aphrodisiac amour took shine

“Human-amour’ being two in one and one in two human humane and beautiful
Untold stories history projections narration twine of lover’s union fashioned
Multiple layers dimensions soul mates and twinned and mingled twinkling eyes
And trusted in trusted holding hands and holding him and her and them and with
No other words expressing human being’s beauty than love and love and love
