Best Transient Poems
Along with cadent rhythms of the day,
night crawlers hum like bees around a hive.
Black shadows stretching longer, curve and blend,
to splinter into shards below the bend
Earth swivels axis arms to catch the sun,
and reaches through the depths of sheer chiffon
In languid dusk, a moment we can trust,
to know it will return another day
The sky creates a rim embossed with gold
colliding where cloth staples red to gray
beyond the shade that drapes across the hills
with purple stardust heavens will unfold
But now is time to let light drift away
Our world with weary voice must say so long,
With great anticipation, heads will rest,
tonight when all the tasks are said and done

Sonnet: Transient
Of all my almost-loves and far-too-soons,
Hers brought a heat most akin to summer’s sun.
I ill-assumed, one night in joyful June,
A pair so young may ever-laugh in unison.
That season we peeled the rind of unripe love,
No heed paid the holocaust by autumn,
Till it was warmth we lay in bed bereft of,
When roses dead had warned our winter’d come.
Such loves birth as flood then burn to vapor,
From eyes a pain downpours, torrential rain;
Hence I plan to leave next summer’s savior,
Before lips aflame douse to kiss in vain.
She’ll think me true and bare me her nude heart,
As I don armor then from her depart.

'Course as a grim teller of tall tales,
(albeit poetic) reasonable rhyming
quasi roundelay I readily admitted to feign
cuz, stringing words together with
pride and prejudice plus
sense and sensibility, jocularity,
and conformity I dissed deign
(spoiler alert) iamb, trochaic,
dactylic, and anapestic metrical reign
jest your ordinary garden variety
dollar short day late dime a dozen
penniless citizen banker Abel and Cain,
yet mine mean mien blithely, daringly,
fatuously, ludicrously, nauseatingly,
pretentiously playfully urbane
many (if not all readers)
will coon sitter
yours truly harmlessly insane,
whose feeble attempts
to wax and wane
oft times falls flat (splat goes Matt)
as if dropped out plane,
without a parachute
instantly recuperating while lain
supine (winded, but...
none the worse) asthma brain
suffers concussion, confusion, contusion
actually, immediately, and unexpectedly
knocked fluent German speaking ability
within germane guy verständlich?
If ye really comprehend
trademark non Turkish gobbledygook
then explain (using
language of least familiarity),
but best to commence
with eye catching hook

to evade even momentarily
riveting, spellbinding,

Nor could I breakaway courtesy automobile,
cuz 2009 Hyundai Sonata

thus finding me ready to yoke

dangling as body goes limp
blessedly, finally, happily
ridding me of any/all hangups,
one less goo goo gaga born this way
poker face cards for him to deal.

inhaled sublime fragrance floating around me,
imbibed radiance of the gleaming roses red
gradually those flowers are losing their beauty,
their lustrous sheen and hues diminishing instead
on the floor parched petals lying hopelessly dead!
my heart aches mournfully to see them gloomily fall
eventually their shimmering petals on the floor
but who can escape destiny's inevitable call,
decay of a sublime beauty - never felt before
life is transient and fleeting, a realization pure ~
wheel of daily life goes on - never stops
does not wait for anyone to sob and cry
poignant dreams do not disappear like dewdrops,
grand aspirations reaching the sky
never losing profound passion, soar high ~

I am a misprint,
Ink blot on love,
I remain a maybe
Longing for fact,
No speck of lint,
A hand in glove.
Thunder; a baby
Will only react
When you etch
Parallel clouds,
Whistling on cue
To a dead town.
Dream a sketch
Of silent crowds
Becoming you,
This boiling crown
Chews thought
Into flagellation.
Holes in the walls
To spy through,
Seeking a sort
Of bricked-up sun.
A heaven of halls,
All leaving you.

Verse
Like a transient thought
You entered my dialogue
Seeking to become
Discourse of my mind
Confusing my words
You tampered response
Bemusing my mood
Feigning what love was
Until reality grasped
A fraudulent trespass
Holding firmly at bay
Faux vision of romance
Yet, our rendezvous
Was willingly allowed--
Lascivious to assuage
Exotic wish of the heart

Freelance wanderer carefully navigating the vast expanse
Shadow warrior doth stealthily advance without
remonstrance
With bartered lance, pawned knife; abridged parlance
Shuffling in tantric harmony o'er unforgiving terrain;
nuanced eccentric
Camel cavalcade, entrancing spectacle across glistening
sands prancing
Shrouded by the frantic wind; each, cloaked itinerant a
tenured mantic
Trading the rationed provenance of open spaces for
gratuitous providence of flowering oases
Prudently forming each tribal alliance; deviously skirting
terms of compliance
Hearth covering from servile herd exacted; animistic
seams redacted
Burdened traveler in psychosomatic trance; by warming
flame, pyromantic
Each tenement provisioned by industrious wives; lofty
presentiment
Hospitality granted to imploring drifters; enmity shown
to extorting grifters

TRAVEL FREE, TROUBLED TRANSIENT...
Lift the gate to roll with swine and the glory of it all
Ride the tide all night, abide by no law and stand tall...
Hitch-hike till' Hell says, "get out n' surf the SUN"
Do it all over Land Rover; don't blink 'till the deed is done
Divide doom by blue tears you stack
Kill the clock boy; time tempts worse than crack
Live the gift reckless, rest (maybe) when you die
Never look back Jack; middle finger to the sky!

Monorhyme
(To her, who will never read this.)
Her hooded heart shields her from getting soaked by any sort of lustful rain
She is impenetrable by any weakening feeling such as affection or commitment
She’s got everything but nothing and nothing to lose but everything
She’s the same way all of the time, only seeing me part of the time
They always seems to crave what I’m not, and misinterpret what I am
And I’m beyond remembering why I chase her storm
That map in my brain that used to have a direct route
To my serene plateau, in which she would be gleaming there
With an open mind of who I once was and who I will or will not be
Upon the time of my arrival, has vanished without any footsteps or trail
No sense of direction to guide, no sweetness to taste
No words to explain, no answer for the question why
I’ve forgotten what I was supposed to remember
But still remember what I was told to forget
The flesh carvings of cannibalistic chemicals in my brain
In which my thoughts are subdued, make it difficult to adhere to
Any sort of anthropomorphism of the transient ghost that I was in a time when
The world was the same but everything was submerged in jubilation and not dreariness
A time when she thought of me as a man she might just keep…

I observe the far constellations with the hurry of a passerby;
the lightness of my steps becomes-the shadow of another earthly transient.
Galileo never missed one, he refused to be that cynical astrologer;
his work started an evolution-the age of invention for another earthly transient.
Aristotle had respect for Nature and its creatures, an astute philosopher;
his theories seem so intricate-the pure philosophy of another earthly transient.
World power reflects that of the Roman Empire: belligerent and cruel;
another emperor will reign and become-the image of another earthly transient.
I am the philosopher that no one hears-an unappreciated thinker;
my testimony bears a hard truth that scares all-Am I another earthly transient?

It feels like centuries, a time far from here,
Times and events, Distant and unclear.
A bond we shared through thick and thin,
Once made of steel, now as weak as foil tin.
Why did this happen? I know not how,
When did it begin? It eludes me now.
My friend, my companion of life long past,
Far from me now, time had flown so fast.
Lamenting for the time when we were like glue,
We played, we laughed. There were none like you.
I will not settle with memory alone,
I will seek you out, we shall atone.
For time we have lost, we must regail
The stories of our lives, the triumph and fail.
They say that a friend is ephemeral with time,
Fallen out of touch, but forgetting is the crime.
For we should endeavor to keep our friends,
To settle all disputes and make amends.
Don't let silence fill the void,
Or friendships will be damaged or worse, destroyed.

Ballad
Breath of spring and fresh romances flown
Farther than where clouds their dew have wept!
Hither sweep your hand upon all seeds unsown:
Reap the gold in winter’s wardship kept!
Bashfully, the moon of March ascends,
Shedding rays of silver light on bright
Dreams of green demesnes, whose rousing blends
Green emotions fed by her delight.
Spoiled by sunny streams of warmth, the earth
Lures the mind of man away from cold
Misery to calm, resplendent birth
Shaped anew in firm and fitting mould.
Decked in snowdrops, Spring displays her crown
Carried high by nymphs and satyrs, proud
Envoys quick to hail their queen, whose gown
Cloaks the woods and awes the blooming crowd.
Dozing off on waves of rolling grass,
Lovers breathe the scent of youth and live
Fleeting hours of joy while bees amass
Nectar drops which lilies gladly give.
Transient beauty doomed to die! By what
Spell of old did crass reality
Close the grip of time and swiftly cut
Roots which fed your immortality?
Pleasant summer’s not too far behind,
But by autumn’s end you’ll be asleep,
Bound to rise again within my mind
While, in winter, faithful watch I keep.

Fall is:
Dragonflies, empty nests
Pumpkin pies, shedding trees
Brown meadows, Monarch butterflies
Crisped carpets of Autumn leaves
It’s a frosty feel of finality
That all good things must end
That things must die Is simply reality
Tis not a question of if, but when
It’s a harbinger of things to come
As well a reminder of times gone by
A pregnant pause to ponder, muse and wonder
Where we are and who we are…and Why
It’s a time of transient Nature
Replete with changes everywhere
Absent name and nomenclature.
As familiar tho’ (as we all know)
…As smoke draped pon’ the air…
And that ‘s what makes Autumn great

Ode
I’ve seen you in warm tender of blanket
With the hug of frosty night you slept fair
Thru the pinky neon light came there a cat
Coolness of dark city snubbed its care
The grogshop closed the door of thirsty wine
Jazz music went too far ended the night
With the rising sun the dew smoked in brine
Blue jay crest lied behind with poppy flight
No snowball, no snowflake over the sky
With the sunny time no crystal fog played
On classic twilight winter hailed warm pie
In the tepid dawn cuckoo termed to date
The blanket of darling now in safe shelf
Cause, winter on gypsy road by spring help
