Best Toyed Poems
Like a spider you drew me into your web
Cocooning me within your silver threads
Words, pretty words
I was totally taken in
Wrapping me up in silk ribbons,
like a party gift.
One for you to open at your pleasure.
You teased me, toyed with my emotions
Powerless to resist, I believed your web of lies
I was trapped …
"Trust me," you said.
Oh what lies, what wicked lies you wove
Foolish was I for believing your every word.
Love blinded my eyes,
My heart heard only your song.
I thought you could do no wrong,
Then slowly, the scales fell from my eyes.
I realized your web was one of deceit.
The cockerel crowed three times
You lied!
You lied!
You lied!
Keep yourself wrapped in the lies you weave.
Other innocents may fall victim to you as prey
But I've broken free from your hold,
and untangled myself from your web of deception.

Darkness Where Now Poe And Raven Reside,
(Part One)
As the Raven cross into the dark pits
Those in torment went into heaving fits
Its shrieking calls, alarms even down there
Far worse its image to dying souls scare
With great trepidation some turned to Poe
Begging, master far away make it go
Poe only smiled, saying, come now my pet
I have far, far sweeter work for you yet.
As Raven lands on Poe's black-stone table
Spits out two bloody and half eaten hands
Asks, does this remind you of that fable
Promising keys to kingdom's treasured lands
Given to a man willing and able
Freeing princess, her captor's sword withstand
Where death's deeds and bloody might enables
Morbid masterpieces of art so grand.
From all around, their banter brought loud moans
From wretched sinners in that dark hell cast
Raven spoke in wicked, evil tones
I toyed with her, to make my pleasure last
Poe commanded, Raven, please no more of that
We are here to enjoy the pleasant scenes
And in our deep joy, grow lazy and fat
Let us not her poor soul thus so demean.
Raven again spoke, come now we need pain
And louder wailing that soothes a black heart
For what good is torture if has no gain
Or tearful pleadings that come as it starts
Master, order yon' demon band to play
For I shall fly above and watch you dance
Let us enjoy sadder cries on this day
With evil's first bride, a little romance.
Poe then rose to do as his pet wanted
Poe laughed and said, Raven dear, please be nice
Let not our blackened pride thus be flaunted
When bit better decorum would suffice.
With that he motioned demon band to play
Its favorite and first great monstrous hit
As waiting victims begged that they may
Have some relief from their torturous fits.

Distrait within the dismal night
while drifting down deserted track...
Beyond the bend, a lantern light
illumed alone the vacant black.
Such are the tricks that fate will feign
with passing trains in winter rain.
The darkling sky sighed, dripping dew,
beguiling to the trek anew.
Through diamond dusk old demons came -
There was no dread, there was no claim,
for distant thoughts will entertain
on passing trains in winter rain.
Through shadow’s fog a form appeared
(which slowed its pace as morning neared),
a lonesome, meek and wistful thing,
like fallen bird with broken wing.
Such are the shapes and weary strain
of passing trains in winter rain.
We paused a moment, side by side
confronting Fate in eventide.
But Passion’s Pains of yesteryear
left youthful Ardor draped in fear -
We had our courses to maintain
like passing trains in winter rain.
I often harken, flashing back,
to sense the formless twisted track
muse “Few have loved though all have toyed
inside this vast and vacant void -
The reason why ? At heart, mundane
as passing trains in winter rain” ...
Ah, Wind, we've known each other so long.
While creatures run quickly from your side,
I've tried to find kindness in your song
but your howls become hard to abide.
You loudly roar blowing doors ajar,
trees bent weary by ceaseless pummel.
I hear your rumble, beginning far
announcing yourself, never humble.
Beneath blue skies, a rustle of leaves,
a gentle breeze stirring grains of sand.
Clever Wind sending Zephyr to tease
but we now know the tricks in your hand.
You can charm dust into whirling dance
spinning her round as dust devils fly.
Then do your best to spoil a romance
with your chuckle as they reach the sky.
Unmentionable tantrums and blows,
your foot stamping when you are annoyed.
Leveling towns, do you regret those
heartbreaks caused as you merrily toyed?
Sometimes forlorn, or is that a guise,
when quickly you stop, tempering voice?
is that sadness I see in your eyes?
With flashes of scorn, you make your choice.

She jiggled like pink jello into the store
with platinum blonde hair and red rouge on her face
the shoe clerk mumbled it must be 1950's day
watching her strut around with a hanky made out of lace
She said hi hon you know why I'm here
he replied let me guess, you wear a size eight
she said well if the shoe fits I might as well wear it
and maybe later if you get lucky you can be my date
So she scouted around and found a pair
and sat down with tight dress flair
he thought to himself I think I'm in love with Mae West
looking her up and down and at her chest
He gently took her foot and slid her old high heel off
his hand sliding up and starting to cruise
she batted her eyelashes and said oh keep it coming, she toyed
saying, why don't you come up and see me later big boy
With that he winked and slid the new heels on
watching her walk around like Mae West
she said you know I know you like me big boy
but my eyes are up here and not on my chest
With that he gave her a long wolf whistle
and said you know I just can't resist
now stop acting your shoe size sexy
pulling her towards him giving her a passionate kiss
She whispered hon is that your gun
or are you just happy to see me
he said guess what my little chickadee
tonight you can be my Bacall and I'll be your Bogie
With that she left the store with customers galore
staring, whispering and looking aghast
he said out loud, come on... get a life...
I know we're a little kooky, but she happens to be my wife!

On the day you told me you wanted to die,
I stared at the glowing screen,
Mouth gaping,
Wondering if I was understanding your words correctly.
You toyed with me to throw me off your trail
A rabbit zig zagging through the brush
But Im a hunting hound
Trained for the best.
I caught whiff of your suicide sent
Its smell is familiar to me.
Casual jokes, silence, im fine lies.
All a mask to hide the truth you don’t want me to see.
You don’t want me to see the razors in your pockets
The empty alcohol bottles under your bed,
The pills by your sink for illnesses you do not have,
The belt hanging from your fan, that is four sizes too long.
You don’t want me to see this side of you
But I see it whether you show it to me or not.
You tell me to forget and move on
But how can I?
How can I forget the awful panic
That I might one day respond to the call
That you have tried to take your life
That I might hold your life in my hands one day.
How can I forget the awful panic
That I might lose you.
That I might cry rainbow tears
As your father serenades you into forever sleep.
Forgive me if I seem selfish
Its just I have only now found a reason to live.
And it kills me that
My reason to live also wants to die.
The blade penetrated the flesh
like a prong to a pitted plum
he had played with war
toyed with war
yet the gun
well the gun didn't have balls
Not for him the sterile
three shrouds removed
expunging of visera with a gun
sissy pistols
pansy takers
Stick um good
part the seas of red
wake and feed the hounds of war
plastic pop-guns shatter beneath the heel of Mars
Man UP, raise the staff
and shove the pig sticker into mother's child
Oh man, war, Old Man War
do you visit him each night as you enter
what should be the path to love?
Have a poke little man
just remember, all that was is ...
and will be born again.

as the maid tired,
ironing

who wanted
to be dandy
when he toyed with the ladies at the ball.

If I could have a word with God
I’d tell him I’m not pleased
Throughout the years he’s toyed with me
He tempted and he teased
He’d lead me up that primrose path
Then with my goal in sight
Spins me round a dozen times
And turn out every light
Seems to me whenever I’m
About to be in clover
Someone pulls the rug out
And I have to start all over
So please God if you’re listening
I’ve never asked for much
The next time I’m successful
Don’t kick me in the crotch

Spring arrived, ‘Twas the dawn of man
Consciousness exploded with a Big Bang
We foraged inquisitively for berries and nuts
Soon building settlements and primitive huts
A subtle spark conjured otherworldly fire
And with it came a burning desire
Tales of titans and mythical creatures
Serpents and beasts with grotesque features
Summer arose, out rolled the wheel
Stonework replaced by the forging of steel
Harnessing power from great rivers and streams
Oceans soon conquered by ships of dreams
There were wondrous amphitheaters without a flaw
Spectacular cathedrals that left us in awe
Advances in medicine enhanced our lives
Youthful deaths seemed for the archives
Autumn emerged, the pinnacle of man
Although swarming to billions wasn’t the plan
The thriving Metropolis made man a city dweller
Piercing the sky with scrapers so stellar
Technology progressed to an unfathomable height
Our synapses fired so glaringly bright
We drove motor cars and traversed the stars
And even toyed with the idea of avatars
Winter came, and into ash we did burn
We dug our graves and had nowhere to turn
Conquered by robotics that we impatiently built
Mega cities crumbled to sand and silt
We gave godly power to Artificial Intelligence
Paying the ultimate price when they evolved to sentience
Mighty bombs dropped, and every city fell
The curtains sadly drawn as mankind bids farewell

Misused, so misused I have been by you.
I can’t believe by you I was so smitten,
but now I am a poor bedraggled kitten -
one that has been nagged
and then through mud been dragged.
Nagged and pestered,
so bitterness has festered
inside me, for with my love you toyed,
then you turned around and said
I made you annoyed.
Oh babe I was so true to you.
But now I don’t know what to do.
With love for you I had been stricken.
But misused by you, I’ve just been sickened.
So cruelly teased. How have I displeased you so?
I feel like someone left diseased; diseased inside my mind.
Why oh why is love so blind?
I just keep thinking back; whatever did I lack?
By love for you afflicted, I became so damn addicted.
Always being contradicted, I’ve been left conflicted.
And now I am restricted . . . restricted from
the love for you I wanted so to show.
Why did you ever make me go?.
Misused, I’m so misused . . . abused; confused.
And now I’m going mad -
insane inside my brain.
I think it makes you glad.
Yes, I’m going mad;
insane inside my brain.
You’re glad; you’re glad; you’re glad,
and I’ve been so abused.
Losing my mind.
All that I can think of is
why oh why is love so blind?
Oh, sweet flora
yesterday you were
a morning surprise,
from the fissure
your fulfilling yellow bloom
toyed in the sunlight;
majestic in contrast to the
city built grey
concrete wall, I pass by
every mundane day.
Your anchor your roots
in breach of nourishment,
when today one’s withered head
I greet on my journey.
(‘Some fall on stoney ground’)
I remember the story
to choose the wrong path
like so many folks today.
Before sowing of the seed,
one needs the preparation.

I went on vacation to Hell,
The hotel was hot, with a smell,
And The Devil was rude,
When I toyed with my food:
He cooked all the dinners as well.

~Ten Little Monkeys~
(Rhyming Couplet)
Ten little monkeys went out to dine
One ate too much and then there were Nine
Nine little monkeys went out for a mate
One got married and then there were Eight
Eight little monkeys went to a 7 -Eleven
One went to K-Mart and then there were Seven
Seven little monkeys had some ticks
One got sick and then there were Six
Six little monkeys went for a drive
One never made it and then there were Five
Five little monkeys were very sore
One went to the doctor and then there were Four
Four little monkeys played with a bee
One got stung and then there were Three
Three little monkeys went to the zoo
One toyed with a lion and then there were Two
Two little monkeys went for a run
One fell dead and then there was One
One little monkey weighted a ton
It went in a crash-diet and now there are none.
