Premium Member A Tear-Ful Conversation With My Daughter

It starts with only one -
one like me
a melancholy migrant
from the immortal part of her
to the locus of her physical being --
the center of her emotional wisdom

I gain heartfelt strength as I gather my forces
rising up en masse
riding cresting waves of woe
to breach the ramparts -
the welling rims
of her loving eyes

it starts with only one -
one perfectly ripened drop of sorrow
this beautifully packaged pain

and a lustrous cascade of soulful pearls ensues
wept gems pouring forth from a pure heart..

I am the tears your mother cries.

Poet's note; For my beautiful daughter, Jocelyn, you inspire me with your light, joy, spirited determination and intellect. Though your academic pursuits take you many, many miles away from me and I grieve your absence, when you return home I shall celebrate with tears of joy!
For today, however, I'll let my grieving tears speak for themselves...
I love you and I miss you, my Jocee <3

I Slipped On a Tear Drop

I s l i p p e d on a teardrop and landed in her arms. She never knew how much I needed her. I s l i p p e d in a puddle and I died in her soul. She never knew how much I needed her. Between yesterday’s old coffee and today's bright doom I broke in half. My heart slipped away into the hell of her death and my mind created LOST memories. So many moments of despair she held, and so many times of loneliness I lived. Beneath the darkness of the moon I drowned in a river created from her pain. It engulfed me into oblivion and I shall never be the same again. Sisters need each other and I needed her. Life seems over and death seems so FINAL.

teardrops in her arms-
woe brings rivers of d r o w n i n g
DEATH by suicide

I s l i p p e d on a teardrop and landed in her misery. She never knew how much I loved her. I s l i p p e d in a puddle and I died in her heart. She never knew how much I loved her. After the downpour of anguish I fell asleep. Nightmares of our final hug GOODBYE. If only I had held on longer maybe she would have felt more love from me. Maybe enough love to keep her alive. For she never realized how much her pain caused me heartache. She bled in sadness and I bleed in regret. No time to heal because healing is no more. Life seems dark and death seems so BLEAK.

one final goodbye-
not enough pure love from me
two dead souls bleeding

I s l i p p e d on a teardrop and landed in her remorse. She never knew how much I longed for her. I s l i p p e d in a puddle and I died in her essence. She never knew how much I longed for her. Before she was born she was already gone. A lifetime of sorrow and feeling different. It was hard for her to be a lesbian. Too hard. RIDICULED and damaged beyond repair. No more light at the end of her tunnel and the lessening of sunshine during her days. It’s depressing to think about what she felt her final moments of life. Her goodbye letter was awful. Full of pain and too much grief for me to read. I keep it in a journal tucked gently away. One day I will pull it out and read it again. Life seems wrong and death seems so BLACK.

suffered from regret-
too flawed and b r o k e n to heal
sister’s forever

BEHIND THE SMILE

[Verse 1]
Just another sinking tear
In this river full of pain
Racing fast to nowhere
In a world that’s gone insane
Hope hung herself in silence
Before I got to speak
Now I'm haunted by your absence
And promises too weak

[Pre-Chorus]
They say it gets better
But they never knew the fire
That burned us down forever
Left me buried in the mire

[Chorus]
But it’s alright — you’ll never know
I’m living dead, but I don’t show
Empty words and hollow eyes
Behind this smile, I hide my lies
Yeah, behind this smile... I hide my lies

[Verse 2]
Everyone’s got the answer
But none of them are right
The blind lead the broken
Claiming they’ve found light
Love — a cruel illusion
A fool’s delight, they say
Left me cold and naked
In the night that stole the day

[Pre-Chorus]
They offer silver linings
While I’m drowning in the grey
Their voices can’t reach me
In the wreckage where I lay

[Chorus]
But it’s alright — you’ll never know
I’m living dead, but I don’t show
Empty words and hollow eyes
Behind this smile, I hide my lies
Yeah, behind this smile... I hide my lies

[Bridge – Preserved, Enhanced]
Handcuffed by this culture
To a grave of silent screams
Treading water in the shadows
Of once beautiful dreams
Too far gone to rescue
Too lost to even fight
Alone beneath the surface
Under a waterfall of night

[Final Chorus – Lifted Emotionally]
But it’s alright — you’ll never know
I’m living dead, but I don’t show
These haunted eyes still memorize
Every truth I try to disguise
Behind this smile... I hide my lies
Yeah, behind this smile... I hide my lies.

Premium Member One Tear

One tear slides down a slanted cheek
A silver line, the only sign

Of anguish which she does not speak
Insistent smiles, bright by design

Thin fortitude, her whitewashed shrine
Gilded answers rain, lily meek

She lies and says that she is fine
When truth is too fearsome to seek

Premium Member An Angels Tear

An angel shed a tear from both her soul and her heart
As she viewed the Earth’s beauty that its people called art
Their art came from their souls and from their hands
It came with their giving, shown to every man
It came from the precious moments that were needed elsewhere
And sponsored from the funds that were so hard won and rare
It came from ideas when an occasional quiet moment was won
And in their world, there are precious few of such ones
It came from the hearts that had often known despair
As one paid it forward from a gift of another’s fare
And Hope slowly rose with each and every smile
As a moments’ help began to grow by the mile
And all the thoughts became bright where applied
So remember how important, can be something you do
When someone is given, a momentary helping hand, from you
No matter how small, no matter how much
It’s the love and the heart that comes with the touch
And an Angel did smile
That so many had learned to give in a short while
And they’d learned: there’s an art to giving so very worthwhile

A Tear Drop On a Rose

A Tear Drop on a Rose

For here I stand amongst the garden
Vines along the gated path
Songs of never left forgotten
Blooming in the aftermath

Thus I find my heart is broken
Soft the air of fragrance pure
Lush within this fertile garden
Beauty I shall see no more

Silhouettes I long to beckon
Wave as if they need me so
Shadows formed on perfect hedges
Happiness I used to know

Winds of change now come to greet me
Whispering their sad refrain
To the sky, what is the meaning
I shall never love again

Lonely now my scented feelings
Rooted in the dark abyss
Memories now cast a calling
Looking back on times to miss

If by chance you walk this garden
Here where every flower grows
Find that I have left a message
In a teardrop on a rose

A Ghostly Tear

`

O’ crooked branch and magpie’s claw,
yon rusted chains a’ sway this night
Clutch tight a sign “The Seagull's Squall”
of splintered wood and storm clouds fight
Old tavern lone this craggy shore
where angered waves accost the sand
and drenching rains from heavens pour,
whilst thunder boasts its loud command

On creaking stools with painted legs
'long the bar, a gathered crew
Expected flow from aging kegs
a frothy crown this lagered brew
Fills tankards held of one now gone
'midst pewter death in golden ale
In drunk'n stupor sorrows shown
lost at sea, his soul last sailed

Watching cloaked of shadowed mist
in darkened corner, lingered smoke
O’er long goodbyes on echoes twist
and couraged voices soundly spoke
Weaving tales a' journeys past,
voyages beyond the deep
Ports o’ call and forth day cast,
of treasures that abound to reap

When one, a glass above his head
beckons silence, moments slow
Respect, our mate now swallow'd dead,
entombed within the depths below
Then hearty cheers and farewell speak,
this touching scene if one would be
A ghostly tear now falls my cheek,
this fallen mate they cheer is me

Putting down sword of truth
falling from dark clouds true blue
feelings you draw from the deep ocean
curling waves warmly galloping
summer wind warm and moist
that love glance that moment

Emotions floating softly
upon whispering silent winds
kissing golden sands
wet freshly salted teardrops
washing your feet with love
fulfilling your heart’s wishes

Most beautiful I adore
in the name of beauty
always means forever
sweetly in the end
gazing in your eyes
touching moist lips

Love you liberate me freely
if only one could see this soul
crystals crashing to the ground
rising to the occasion with love
cherishing every moment fully
never saying goodbye

How precious shining a true treasure
touching gossamer wing longing brush
wishing in an everlasting memory
hoping always for the best
making life happen always
showing no fear ever

Memories of a love so true
wishing a life together forever
embracing each other so warmly
caressing and kissing openly
seeking fate and destiny in life
crying tear drops openly

Riding distressed air, thoughts wander off
Disrupting poise and shaking her resolve
As the blue skies yield to darkened clouds
And sunny day concedes to advent of dark.

Looking for warmth she reaches far back
Reminiscing allure of moonlit ambiance
When holding hands under luminous stars
Amatory vibes twinkled dreamy romance.

Not a word he says about impending plight
Wrapping around her a reassuring stance,
Humming a tune from the sensuous past
Looking for sunshine amidst dreary storm.

Tomorrow will be the first day of new life
As countdown begins to how long he lives.
She'll be ready with the will of almighty,
Defying death at the entrance of mortality.

Much as they try to verbalize what's ahead
Silence manifests when words are needed.
A kiss of passion says she'll love him always
As one last tear sheds in grip of his embrace.

Premium Member The Journey of a Tear

It often trickles slowly, timid and shy
From the inner eyelid of a song
Or down the cheek of a distant mountain
A sunset rising beyond the hill, or moonlight on the window sill
A rose in bloom…a drop of dew…so tiny, sweet and beautiful
It fills a cup with voiceless wonder, and deep affection
It languishes softly…with wild abandonment
And will not be tamed

But, another kind is rooted deep
Buried where the light can’t reach
The anguish of the world falls on it’s cheek
It dwells beside the hopeless shore
Until thundering waves can't be ignored
The first single tear drifts down the walls
Into the shadowy tide of a river, longing
Bleeding old wounds, through all the old hurts
Looking for a place to hide
The sky above the earth will darken
Behind a leaden, lumpy cloud bank
Now the day has puckered up a bottom lip
Round spattering tears are warm
Prelude to the storm
The day will weep
Until it falls asleep

Mascara black tear fell as she looked on
the silent man
stretched lifeless
in a
cask
full
suit he
loved for years.
Pale lips smiling.
She will never feel those soft lips again.

the saltiness of love
a riveting fall
unlike other tears
this solitary shed
like a drip of life-blood
the lance of each freckle
an almost feckless drive over the sallow cheek
finally landing on the lump of her throat

the last tear stains her pillow
tasted by encompassing family
a lovely bouquet
the aroma of memories
likewise a splash of a storm
lashing against the window pain
softly moaning wind
as she exhales one more breath
like the shake of a baby’s rattle

as the sun shines
a doe with a sparkling eye
and her fawn
through the window pane

her family exhales
and holds the snapshot
of her death

For Every Tear You Cry

For every tear you cry
A baby smiles for the first time
Someone in this world dies
Someone tells a lie
Dreams are frozen in time
Someone confesses to a crime

For every tear you cry
Someone learns how to fly
Another one falls from the sky
Innocence is killed by Pride
Someone loses his rights
A clock begins to chime

For every tear you cry
A star glows more bright
While another one loses its light
Two break out into a fight
A scream is heard in the night
Someone finds their might

For every tear you cry
Someone brings back a life
Someone is filled with fright
A fool is tricked by Sly
Someone tries to hide
Someone wins a prize

For every tear you cry
Someone commits suicide
A blind man gains back his sight
Someone’s drugged up high
Someone determined continues to try
Two cars collide
