"The Wooden Cradle"
a white wooden empty cradle, I wait in the nursery room
for the smell of baby fragrance to illuminate sleeping bloom
years have escalated, still sounds of silence hurt my ears
for all I hear are tender sobs from a Mother's broken tears.
I felt a distant heartbeat once, but it has ceased to linger
my warmth caressed a dying soul who touched my slats with finger
his breath was labored; his life short, but I held his heart close
now haunting memories exist as I cuddle his sweet ghost.
my frame sits in a sunny place, outside, I see a tree
swaying in the balmy breeze where a swing should be
instead, I cry, so silently, recall a tiny form
I embraced in a moment in time and kept him safe and warm.
if these walls within this room could whisper words of sorrow
sheer pain would cause tremendous tears to fashion sad tomorrows
I sympathize with woeful walls whose treasure no longer looms
but no-one understands my loss inside the nursery room.

Golden soft was the light that swiftly flew,
As whistling rain pelted majestic oaks
And the soaked birds began to cry for you
As Nature silently wrapped up its cloaks
Thirsty for coming dawn, so bold and new.
Silver Maples fluttered in the wind,
Where the fast sleeping rabbits hid away
All beautiful, we wish to never end
With brightened colors, every joyful day
As Nature's beauty flowed out to transcend.
Blazing red the delicate maple stands
Gently kissed by Zephyr's uplifting breeze
As frost comes touching each leaf with cold hands
During night's darkest hour leaves damp to freeze
A deep pain felt by one who understands
Ginko's golden hair full of color fair
Tossed about by the nor'easter force
Weeps to sympathize with Maple's affair
Soon ribbons snatched, hair detached a worse course
Winter blows with ice and cold incomparable

Squeezing out a saturated rag.
Torn asunder, pieces of a heart.
Head, eyes, lips, arms — sore-sag.
I’d thought I’d known weeping.
I was only dreaming; nightmares
hidden in caves, silently creeping.
A mime’s hand, waving away his smile,
pocketed in eternity’s change purse.
“Geez,” muttered, as a flood beguiles.
Tempest, no longer outside home’s border.
It’s kicked in the door! Like a king it reigns,
stores up blankets and dust like a hoarder.
One who never kept account of compassion,
relentlessly unprotected, battered with emotion.
Comes crashing in - all sixty years of marital passion.
Still, I’m touched by such all-encompassing love.
The upside-down of Happily Ever-After, close to hell,
and yet, something’s birthed…he puts on a glove,
understanding the cruel depths, others have walked.
O those years upon years of deaf, dumb and blind.
The shadow of death, in his own backyard, chalked.
I’m touched by heart-wrenching mortar.
Silent is the grave of urned ashes —
a cheerleader of son and daughters.
Family forms a chain, squeezing of hands.
Scent of cordial roses in the squall.
Cross purposes - we’re no longer an island.

Hebrews 4:15-16 NIV: For we do not have a high priest (Jesus) who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses…Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
*Just as Jesus sympathizes with us, so we sympathize with each other, as we gain knowledge about suffering and death.
Oh, poor heart, why are you in so much pain?
Why do you take this heart ache, when someone who you know is in pain.
Someone's sleepless nights, someone's despair,
The heart bleeds when fate punishes someone so unfair.
Although people know and sympathize with the misery,
the helping hands, close friends and relatives vanish in a hurry.
Oh lord, how can I ignore such pain even when I am struggling to survive?
The poor heart will feel better thinking it helped someone's will to survive.
Whether happy or unhappy, I sing Narasinh Mehta's song,
"One who is human, knows the pain of others,
Does good to others who are in misery,
and does not let pride enter his or her mind"
Narasinh Mehta – 17th Century Indian poet
Prayer is the means God's given
that we can speak to God above
this God is eternal drawing on us
to fellowship with the God of love
Scripture tells us to make time
for God's ears are constantly on call
but the question is are we open
or do we think we just stall?
If we don't spend time in prayer
why don't we? don't we believe!
do we think it's just words in the air?
prayers hard work so roll up your sleeves
The bible is clear that God does hear
His answers may vary but He knows
it may be yes or maybe no or just wait
but our words heavenly certainly goes
Learn from Jesus our great high priest
who intercedes for us at His throne of grace
so we should pray to Him believing Him
that He grants mercy when we seek His face
(14 Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.)
Hebrews 4: 14-16 (ESV)
Yesterday tropical storm Isaias battered Lindenwood,
I saw people walk past those trees bent by a vicious wind;
they lost their umbrellas and their baseball caps:
they were warned to stay inside to avoid slips and falls.
This neighborhood is a sanctuary for starlings,
pigeons and little egrets who eat plenty of insects,
but dangerous winds and terrential rain made them flee;
they have returned this morning to greet their friend Ashlee.
Nobody likes a windy day that messes up their hair,
muggy air makes one sweat, only a cool breeze helps;
broken branches cover cars, lawns and sidewalks,
scared Billy still hides in the closet and it's not a bear.
I sympathize with the hummingbirds with their lively feathers,
and the spruce grouses with brown and black plumage;
I should also mention the yellow-breasted palm warblers...
these pretty birds are also found in thick forests as if in bondage.
The August rainstorm scared kids away from the nearby lake,
they watch the downpour and the gusts of wind flinging blows
to the wide window that steadly shakes and they ask if it's an earthquake;
their dad is very upset seeing the winter logs scattered on the littered grass.
Nature is not always kind, most times is cruel and merciless
and we feel its wrath as a punishment, but is it God doing this?
No, it's Mankind doing deforestation allowing floods and brutal storms;
no, it's the industrial chiminies that emit smoke that destroy our lungs.
skating on thin ice
in my bare feet
i am tightrope walking in
my big chunky boots
i sympathize with fire
numb to the burn
then swallow it whole
to quench the yearn
to satisfy this craving
i pretend i have wings
becoming accustomed to
these busted up knees
don't mind me, i'm just
tracing circles through the air
you think i'm getting nowhere
but you just wait
you wait and see
i'm more
than you
will ever be
Such a beautiful sleeper but yet a
life filled with nightmares;
A demon fighter since her younger age;
I applaud this princess for her strength.
Since birth, the flash from cameras have
overexposed your privacy,
And left you a public flame,
waiting for that moment you’ll ignite like
your mother,
If allowed, I could show you the wonders
of the world, outside the seven you’ve seen
already with your royal family of music,
Just one request, B.K…..Wake up.
Sadly the ruffles in your bed of life,
Have prevented as good night’s sleep;
For this reason, you feel no one can help you
straighten out your bed sheets;
I however disagree.
I understand that times are tearful since
the passing of your best friend,
in the shape of a mother.
From a distance I’ve noticed the devil
creep up in your family;
I acknowledge that this book of private
affairs is not for me to read, but if allowed;
I’d be willing to write better chapters for you
in the future.
One in particular would illustrate you
kissing cloud nine,
Reminiscing on a career that you were
passionate about;
If this path follows your mother, then may
your voice resonate with the masses,
And display a true angel on earth.
I sympathize with you, that negative forces in
this world can shift your stairway downward;
However, like the demons who constantly try
to awake the skeletons in my closet,
We’re all human, and for every fall,
A rising is waiting, for when you’re spiritually
ready;
Let that marinate in your sleepless nightmares
until you wake up, B.K.
I anticipate the day when we meet outside
my imagination,
And the world views you in better light,
That’s not dimmed by the shade of
media;
Understand that these images of a
conversation between us are nothing less
than encouragement;
Just like “The Voice”, would sing so
eloquently from her lips;
The greatest love of all is love for yourself;
If these words don’t carry enough weight, just look around;
I’m sure you’ll recognize some ebony queens
in your family who symbolize support.
Remember that your fervent heart awakens for a
reason,
And the nightmares shall dissolve as you
rise to awake, B.K.
A true turning stone you will be.
I try to sympathize with you,
I cry all those tears, just
To live the sadness I see on your face
no matter how hard I try
my feeling is never true
I give my life to put myself in your place
I WISH I CAN TAKE YOUR FEELING AWAY
AND HIDE IT IN MY HEART
IF IT CAN'T BE FORGOTTEN UNTIL TODAY...
The Heavenly Courtroom
“ 14Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has gone through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. 15For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet was without sin. 16Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” Heb 4:14-16 NIV
Will you be found guilty
Or will your name be vindicated?
Will you ask Jesus to be your Saviour—
A life that’s exonerated?
The Courtroom in Heaven—
Is daily set in motion.
The Accuser known as Satan—
Seeks to gain his revengeful portion.
When the seven plagues of Revelation—
Start on earth to fall,
Judgment has concluded—
Each case decided for one and all.
Is your name written—
In the Lamb’s Book of Life?
Are you covered by Christ’s righteousness,
Or Satan’s fateful knife?
Christ is our High Priest above—
In the Heavenly Sanctuary.
He intercedes for His sheep,
Following His sacrifice on Calvary.
In the Heavenly Courtroom,
He stands in our place.
When covered by His righteousness,
We receive His saving grace.
Will you ask Him for forgiveness,
So that your Saviour can stand;
Successfully pleading your case,
All guilt to disband?
The Accuser is persistent—
He wants your vindication,
But Christ stands in your place—
To offer you exoneration!

FOR DR. ABUBAKAR OLUSOLA SARAKI
Ilorin is bereaved again: another calamity has struck!
Ilorin has lost another pride of the community.
Saraki this time! Why has Mr. Death focused on us?
He has already extorted enough from us already
but his discontentment has prodded him
into snatching Saraki again. Ah! Extortionate!
Our unique exponent of politics has deserted us,
leaving us bereft of confidence.
After the consecutive demise of Oniwasi Agbaye and Sulton Kamal,
I thought my pen would go to bed and rest
until the dawn of 2013, but it was not to be.
Abubakar Saraki’s departure is enough to cause me
to bestir myself again, especially when I visualize
how he lived and bested his opponents,
leading a life that was devoid of failure and defeat.
God has a way of perfecting some like that.
After the death of Baba-l’Agege,
I believed Arabic literature and outright bravery
had followed their commander, and that was the end of it.
But a good many brave writers surfaced afterwards,
though their skills not matching his.
After the passage of Alhaji Agba,
I thought we would never get over the expensive losses:
his matchless knowledge, adorable tolerance, effective prayers…
But many an embryonic scholar emerged,
though not the exact like of Baba.
God’s omnipotence is not subject to limitations.
I send condolence to Dr. Bukola Saraki, Sen. Gbemi Saraki,
and my brother, Laolu Saraki, including their followers and fans.
The peoples of Nigeria I sympathize with you.
And Ilorin community should not be dejected.
Saraki was a man of conspicuous looks,
a man of benign character, his benevolence
extending beyond his arms-length.
To him kindness means kindness, even to one’s enemies.
He was a man that commanded respect home and abroad.
Yet all this appealed not to desperate Mr. Death.
O’ God, Saraki’s presence was encouraging,
characterized by successful children, love and care.
Strengthen us so that his absence shall not create
a foreboding of more tragedies, but be an exit
that betokens more fortune for the bereaved.
The world has not be kind
I see it in your eyes
In that tired smile
In the way you take off your jacket
And sit to rest a while
I hear that sigh
I sympathize with my smile
I let you close your eyes
For just a little while
And cover you with a favorite blanket
To let you rest
A half hour passes
With you in dreamland
I stand before you
My hair in a pony tail
Shower fresh
Smelling sweet
My lips cherry glossed
I let the towel drop
I bend down to kiss you
I let my lips linger
Till you’ve had a taste
Your eyes flutter open
I see that smile of pleasure
Waking on your lips
And you pull me onto your lap
"Come here, honey child"
I lean back as my hands guide
Your head to my chest
Whispering in your ear...
“Baby Boy….
Food’s gone cold…
Do you want to start with dessert?”

that landed on my
blueberry pie, i give out
a cry! and spill all my

Mama’s Fault
Abortion and Baby Dumping
The umbilical cord you eliminated before my existence
You conceived concealed the gift from its creation
Deceived and destroyed the destiny that was given to the world
Now you asking me, what gives you sleepless night
Don’t be a hypocrite you have been swallowing your own vomit
No-wait we all are at fault because we allowed this to happen in homes and society
Sexually sensitive and spiritually sick
Why open for sexual pleasure and reject responsibility and accountability
The blood of the innocent crying from the ground-souls we have all murdered
Turning girls into holes, dumping babies, chasing pleasure that is under world delusion
Heart full of evil while lips speak love-drinking blood by killing offspring
Outward beauty while mentally incapacitated-lawlessness life, it’s the life they chose
Feeding on lies, faded in freedom, self-will in pleasure, decaying society
While government set the veil – system collapsed and still won’t acknowledge
Sick of psychologists, spiritually blind and morally corrupt-saying do thus at will
Policy is just logic, written words, practically off, wishing the problem is all in their head
Church turned in a business place, wicked theology exploiting the poor-in it for self
While evil and corruption take over the nation – God is the manager allowing evil
Hearts divorced from truth – these painted priests and pastors got real saints misunderstood
Annunciation by media, misleading the nuns, church-good girl lost in lust as love
I feel sorrow in soul, remaining breathless each day
40 babies dumped per month – I wonder how many are aborted
I know your soul is turning cold – knowing all the babies you have aborted and dumped
I know you have excuses just like any other person – no, yes I sympathize with your evil deeds
Heart concealed in subconscious of blood – mind covered by deception of unwanted babies
I read your words of your friend, to your friend,
my heart opened as if you danced in and formed in my mind to define love.
Awe...in the truth you stated.
The words so simple. Gentle
How we watch the ones we love struggle,
How that struggle attaches to us,
straining to wrap acceptance around a storm,
to understand the self inflected wounds,
twine that binds our human experiences.
The stinging wounds ,
complex nature,
deep seeded,
Is the cavern of our emotions.
Once you have fallen in can be deep and jagged and scary.
A souls hidden passage to humanities pain.
The essence of ourselves stays true to our triumphs and failures, our love, our humility.
Hands are extended out to be pulled back
Our twine that binds and recovers us from the rocky cavern to the original point.
Love sees truth painful and real,
So real we understand and sympathize with it,
In the end we build our human elasticity and endurance with it. Pulling each back to one another in loves sweet embrace of forgiveness and understanding that everyone is always working on better versions of themselves.
