Step Ever So Light – On Halloween Night

Step Ever so light
Into this treacherous night
Creatures that abandon the day
Come out to play

Hear those Chill winds howl
To the hoot of an owl
The pale moon flickers
On black cats and bats,
While shadows dance softly
On old crooked hats.
There is corruption at play
In this treacherous night
Step Ever so light, Ever so light

Into the Halloween night
That steals your soul,
With shadows creeping
darkness takes control.
To play ball they crawl
In the moon’s eerie thrall.
The Universal teachings
They fail to recall

Step Ever so light ~ Ever so light ~ Ever so light.
Oh ~ Oh ~ Oh ~ Oh

Step Ever so light
It’ll steal your soul,
With shadows creeping
darkness takes control.
To play ball they crawl
In the moon’s eerie thrall,
The Universal teachings
They fail to recall
Step Ever so light ~ Ever so light ~ Ever so light.
Oh ~ Oh ~ Oh ~ Oh

Alas, I stand atop this mountain crest,
and gaze upon the valley down below;
the graveyard where your body lays at rest,
sits in the center shadowed by plateau.

My sad heart aches with every breath I take;
I wonder why I’m made to bear this bane,
and live a life that’s cruel and opaque,
while trying hard my teardrops to restrain.

This awful illness claimed your life so soon,
while you and I were living in our prime;
the heavens haled you, leaving my life strewn
across this wasteland, sadly out of rhyme.

‘Tis but a step across this steep degree,
and I will join you in eternity.

One Step At a Time

adventure, growing up, hip hop, repetition, word play

A ONE STEP AT A TIME ©
Life is but a hopscotch path
Players vying for placement
Rules to follow aground
Tokens used for good luck
Practice runs lead to safe landings
Over ever-changing terrains
Hop skip and jump!

Land on a crack
You break your Mudder’s back
Marbles fill a bag of loot
Once directed into home holes
Missed turns are your takings
Marbled cat eyes forever coveted!
Crayons come in packs
Pick a colour to your taste
Roses are red
Violets are blue
Black is for rain clouds
Gone is a sun yellow

A is for Apple-
B is for Bunny-
C is for caterwauling
Letters up for a draw
Lettered tongues speak
The bad, good and the ugly
Making mountains out of mole hills!
Name-calling never hurts
Pain hurts from thrown stones
Calling one to take a chance
Towards another hopscotch
With hop skips and jumps
One step, two steps, three steps more!

Premium Member A Spring In My Step

Away bleak weather! It’s your time to flee.

Sun shines down and gifts me with his glow.
Pellucid are the streams from melting snow.
Robin’s come. I see her in my tree!
Ice and Sleet, it’s good to see you go!
Now the earth is ready to regrow.
Gladness sweetly takes a hold of me.

I take a stroll outside. It’s such a treat.
No longer do I trudge with dreary feet.

My gait is lively as I amble where
Yellow-flowered fields perfume the air.

Spring, is here! I feel my spirit sing
Thankfulness to God for everything.
Effervescently I greet each day.
Perpetually may this springtime stay!

I step into the dark with fear and doubt,
the path I take- a foreign, dismal place;
no map to guide my way through twists and turns,
but I will place my steps within the dark.

I ask, my God. Why is my path so dark?
And why must I embark alone in fear?
And why is each step that I take a test?
In this great void of darkness- deep, unknown.

But I have strength and I will venture on-
The past is gone, it dwells in mind and heart;
I have my soul to guide my path today,
and put my trust in me- to guide my way.

My step-mom brought her stuff today.
It really made me mad.
She moved right in and changed the house.
She even changed my Dad.
She makes my bacon way too crisp.
She tries to fix my hair.
And when she shops for nail polish,
She buys enough to share.
To make it worse, she brought her cat
It hides beneath my bed.
And then she made me go with her
To a hill where we could sled.
My step-mom' isn't like me
and there are different rules,
But just between the two of us
My step-mom's kinda cool.

A Step Half Made

As lightening shone and thunder blew
I danced the dance that dancers do

They danced it back and asked if I
Would mind them dancing through the night

I thought no harm could come of this
Besides, such company I’ve missed

Thus, on we danced so unaware
That torrent rains beyond compare

Fell down in floods on higher ground
And like a wall came crashing down

Then somewhere in a step half made
The dance I danced was washed away

Now all that’s left for you to see:
Remains of the catastrophe

Oh, hopefully from this you’ll know
Don’t ever dance when thunder blows

Step Aside

Sometimes there's situations
When you have to step aside.
There is nothing more that you can do,
Though it's hard to realize,
That maybe you are in the way,
And standing in between,
Sometimes you have to step aside,
Before God will intervene.

His work, he can do better,
If there's no one in the way.
There's only so much we can do,
And so much we can say.
For He is so much greater,
On His assurance, we can lean.
Sometimes we have to step aside,
Before God will do anything.

Yes, there will be heartaches,
When you have to step aside.
God understands you,
And He will be your guide.
Just place it all in His great hands,
By your side He will abide.
He knows that you still love the one,
For whom you've stepped aside.

Step ever so light
Into this treacherous night
Creatures that abandon the day
come out to play

Hear those June winds howl
To the hoot of an owl
the candle flame flickers
' forewarned is forearmed'
There is corruption at play
In this treacherous night

Step ever so light,
ever so light
The long arm of
equivocation favours
Wrong over Right

As ordered lives fray
The spinning wheel turns
Casting shadows upon
The power of the judge
Will he unravel?
While a Puppeteer
holds the mighty gavel
The blind eye is turned
As the forged scales tip
towards the stolen people
Self-imposing chosen sheeple
To play ball they crawl
The Universal teachings
they fail to recall

In this treacherous night
that steals your Soul
Step ever so light
ever so light

Premium Member One Step Closer To the Edge

Beset by doubts before I rise from bed
Problems prey on my worrisome mind
My ability to reason has been maligned
Cockamamie notions fill me with dread

I see in the mirror, a disgruntled reflection
the haggard expression on my vexed face
I wear a frown that's been plastered in place
Malaise of despair poisons me with infection

On the edge of a mountain, lost in thought
always hungry and thirsty for peace of mind
It's been illusive to me, or have I been blind
Wanting to do what's right, but falling short

My past hovers in stygian clouds overhead
I haven't always made the wisest decisions,
which worries me to the point of derision
My sanity is in question, so lightly I tread

Conscience wallowing, sinking in quicksand
I'm standing at the fork of two raging rivers
My legs are trembling and my lip quivers
Crying for help; someone to take my hand

Would if I could, be a model of perfection
My psyche is shackled by chaotic unrest
Sagacity abandoned me; life is a mental test
I second guess myself with fear of rejection

I climbed back up to that mountain ledge
engrossed by waves crashing beneath me
Contemplating an idea to set my mind free
I wearily move one step closer to the edge

Premium Member A Step Away

Simmering and swinging out on a limb
Life all around full to the brim
Swooshing and sliding in it's place
Chatting and joining the rat race
Hurry and scurry and passing us by
With a heave and a hoe and give a sigh
Round and round with audible sound
Our feet barely have time to touch the ground
A look or a glance at the sights
Acknowledge , try to be polite
Stop, be stationary for a while
Take a little step a way and smile

One Step Ahead

Neil Armstrong shot off to the moon
Strapped into a cosmic cocoon.
He came to renown
When one foot went down
Ahead of poor Buzz -what a boon!

But as they returned to home base,
Buzz had a big smile on his face.
For there on the sea
Of tranquility
He'd aced the first 'selfie' in space!

Step of Faith

Shrinking control
Unable to scream
She looked upon her future
But what did it mean
If she did not speak
If she could not find her voice
She was destined to repeat
The same mistakes
Once again
Find rage
And don’t focus it within
But let freedom birth in your soul
A new destiny
A new fate
A future steeped
In choices that only you can make
Accept the responsibility of the decision
Not so very long ago
We were not permitted the possibility
Of making a mistake
For everything was determined for us
What do you stand for
What do you desire
What is it you can do
That will lift someone higher
Put meaning to your life
Live it free
Live it loud
And don’t be afraid to step out of the crowd

Premium Member If You Step On a Crack

If you step on a crack
You will break your mother’s back.
When she made us mad.
It’s all we had.

We would spend hours
Jumping on the sidewalk crack.
It never worked.
So terribly glad.

Do not walk under a ladder
Or break a mirror.
You will have bad luck
From there to here.

If a black cat walks across your path.
You can shudder and shake.
For your life
This will break.

If you see the tooth fairy
You will not get any money at all, simply no dough.
If you see Santa,
Presents he will take home to the North Pole.

Friday the thirteenth.
All things bad will happen to you.
You cannot stop it, honey
Childhood trauma sticks to us like glue.

Step Into Darkness......

A feeling from nowhere kindles
  The flame
 I step into darkness
Caressing the pain
  Embracing emptiness
  Flirting with death
A fight between anger and sadness
     Into the darkness
Nowhere left to leave
So I long to bleed
A crimson Red
The lonely dead
forever seek the warmth
But cold inside
  forever rides
Pale a winters horse
Pray release My heavens
Yet bound by earthen bones
Always there are the shadows
Alone….alone…..alone……..
