Way Too Smart
Dr. James E. Martin
I’m really way too smart.
Words come from the heart.
Words I don’ know,
My brilliance I show,
Many years ago this smartness did start!

Limerick
It is daunting and challenging to wear smile no matter how thin in
face of depression.
Like a lose balloon in the face of rushing hurricane wind, you feel
helpless and hopeless at the grip of monster claws of deep dark.
Your smartness, beauty and pride buried in dust of sorrow and
solitude; gloomy and cloudy moments nest and rent the air, courage
and self worth hijacked by entrapment wind of darkness.
You have come a long way not to remember the gift of joy and great
source of happiness you have been to all in need.
Search deep within your heart to see many challenges and battles
you have won to get here.
You have not been a coward nor back down on any challenge; you
have been very deceive and courageous.
Like a child in a candy shop, you have been very happy and grateful
for little things of life.
It may be hard to remember every length, width and depth of the past;
but a flash back will throw some light in dark depressing valleys of life.
Take a deep breathe, let it out, deep breathe again and again.
Rejoice for ability to inhale and appreciate air at will without struggle.
Share your pretty smile for others to find strength to face their
challenges.
Take a long deep breathe, listen to songs of silence and melodious
music of moments for rejuvenation
let go of your self, rock your feet and swing and hands front and back
to sweet songs of nights for joy of new day and fresh beginning.
Visualize yourself in arms of love on a dance floor without care and
stress but music of love and excitement in the air.
Like molten lava of volcano let loose joy within you to drown darkness
and depression.
Never forget that you are built to overcome

Beauty, often, wrongly makes Assumption
That Morality, Kindness to Others, Smartness
Is not for its Gorgeous Ilk
And everything exists - just for her asking;
But Beauty fades and Dumbness is forever.

Some people are all Smartness;
Their brains are so convoluted
Under straight curves
Producing all kinds of trivialities
In hackneyed lines;
Darn, they are good!

Tired to success
Bright future I hear….. They say that’s sweet
Only smart people get there. Like me by the way
Well the smartness has a price
You can see the price; many books, heavy
I chase the future with a heavy load
Making smartness something I will want to question
It’s very helpful but exhausting
Making me lazy and tired
I have thought more than once; to quit
Can’t I be having fun and ecstatic?
I am beginning to ask questions
Are teachers really fair?
So I opened my bag or bags
And I found each name had siblings
Many math’s books, English……so many
And the more you have the smart you look
But it’s tiring, so exhausting
Must these siblings travel together?
I also looked at my play time
Oh sorry I have none; I don’t even have fun anymore
Now that is just the final straw
I start hating smart, it drains me
I am not complaining too much
Smartness is costly takes energy and time
I am still so young, I can’t help it
All work and no play… that’s right
It’s a helpful exhaustion but I have to
Then I look at myself and realize I have to
Someone will make me. They say it’s for the best
I am beginning to hate this...do I have to?

We All Acknowledgement.
We all have family, relatives and friends.
We all dress, do personal things, have belongs.
We all have life liberty, assorted wealth.
We all have emotions, health, and personalities.
We all Love, Like, Hate.
We all know anger, fear and remorse.
Well eat, sleep and have our dreams.
We all have routines, fun and fellowship.
We all have physical hurts, tensions and fatigue.
We all believe in something, ourselves, God, devil.
We all have intelligence, knowledge, and smartness.
We all are persons, human beings, creatures of love.
We all know life as it can be, its hopes and joys.
We all can assist one another, in faith, hope, charity.
We all can rest in peace with our life full and complete.

Her smug smile smacked of smarminess,
Smouldering with self-smiting spite,
Her smartness smothered by smooth smirks
Was smashed to smoky smithereens.

Alliteration
You are so tense,
cos you are so tender
Deep inside
into the melody and structure of your soul
which as a sort of translucent musical instrument
away to be fine tuned
and there’s no one else that will do
the way you do,
you will get the hints, to help you
but the final part, of your soul tuning
is up to you.. and your body senses
and no excuses
cos they help in no way
and no somebody’s else dullness or smartness
but your own flamboyant self
regardless of inexplicably shiny shadows
loosing the pace but never in forgiveness
to the piety succumbing filth of bloodthirsty altars
so think of millions of lost and found pieces
in radiance never to be completed
but always on their way
to revoke your peaceful saturation
to the one and one, or the other, but never yours
sincerely and kindly
peaks above peaks
with the coldness getting under your skin
chill of hanged love
creeping though hardly breathing
peak above peaks
master Kethmandu.
I’m the tallest
cos there’s rocks and rocks,
been thrown my way
so I could stand them up
and use the newly acquired high...
high altitude vocation to do
some power and maintenance
outspoken turbulence
as if ...in life we die
Endurance is a golden key
which opens many doors
are the passages to and from
where we will
are meant to
or want to
some of them are only to be opened
and never ever closed but less clearer
some of them by being
looked inside and closed forever
and ever to be fueled
with the greatest mysteries
that sprouted in a shroomy way
hideously laughing round
unfolding themselves, .. to him
to his overwhelming feeling
of achievement, of real work done
by a real mastery right hand
in the right sphere
under the lamp post
of collisions between
aversion and curiosity.

Free verse
Success in my hand
The power and the glory
On top of the world
I am invincible; me
The little ones left
by the wayside without care
I take what I want
and to hell with their despair
for my life is mine
and I do not care for them
they raised me up high
and now there's no need of them.
their pitiful cries
as they ask for my help; no
they are beneath me
I'm on top of my game; go
they should work harder
for I have attained it all
their jealous actions
they can't wait to see me fall
And fall I did for...
I discarded my support
there was no one left
to encourage through nought
I was abandoned
and fury; my demeanour
for once I had all
but my loss is now keener
struggling to rise up
cannot bear to look, to start
reclusive I am
the world I knew fell apart
avoiding my life
as I sit in the darkness
squandering choices
hiding from my own smartness
and do nothing but
nothing for that catharsis
depression my friend
the filth it stacks up; a mess
I cannot clean it
the will has left, I have stress
no need to arise
There is no appointment set
lay here, die in shame
for a prouder time frames bet
energised to sloth
I have become the mundane
through lust; greed attained
I kept it all, unshared, vain
And wallow in self
My shame defined - reality
To those I have hurt
discarded and used, malady
I need you all now
If only you'd forgive me
but here I sit; spent
I'm denied all connections
and life passes by alone.

SMILING FOR SMART
Arrogance of your silence, stinking attitude
Rotten breath from your mouth, saliva with virus
Beauty painted in ugliness of your expression
Your niceness is enveloped by naughtiness
If you could only smile your inner beauty will shine out
Unwelcoming gesture, mask of unfriendliness
Madness of unsmiling attitude hider all goodness
Kindness killed by unkindness of lack of positiveness
Love covered in lust, expressing bad and longing for laughter
Smiling uncovers your smartness in the presence of foolishness
Rejection of friends, family and fame due to fakeness
Smelling like a dog, biting the finger that feeds you
All you will ever need is in you and people but your attitude
Cacophony of bitterness clouds the benefits of smiles
Smiling is for smart, smiling is strength, smiling is sweet for your soul
Divided within, longing for the touch of comfort
Lost touch with inner happiness, horrific to smile
Blaming everybody for everything going wrong in him
Blaming everyone for everything going ugly in her life
Shake yourself; smile even when you are smelling inside, just smile
Even when you are frustration, forsaken, forbidden, smile
Even when you are in pain, pressure, persecution, smile anyway
Even when you don’t like them, or don’t laugh with them, just smile
Even if your lips have sores and it hurts to smile, yes-just smile
Even if you are in sorrow just smile, smiling is sweet for the soul
Smile speaks all languages and covers all fears and hurts, so smile

On a market you can see the people run.
The life itself sells here knowing all.
The paleness gets a tan under the Sun.
The smartness is wearing out the sole.
And to and fro here goes a branded flesh,
and risqué tongues suspended scurry about.
It was the want-hag that swept the trash,
With a dashing broom uproar swirls around.
And cheeky grated balls are looking at my eyes.
A spicy smell is near me. It's marked up.
It's teasing nose of mine – my sense is right
to all the rest of senses on that sharpened.
And motley clothes the fruit-green`s putting on.
For hungry women it's a king of strip-tease.
A kind of honey is brought by a brazen drone.
It is the tawdry world of alien prestige.
Persistent hubbub gets my ears on an` on.
Soon goods are thrown by plenty into mess.
By feet as a pair of compasses a horizon's drawn
to ancient Middle East through wild Wild West.

Television's Funster's
Two of my favorites
The Addams Family and the Munster's
The Honeymooner's- with Ralph and Ed
Their still on late at night
Fun to watch- 'fore we go to bed
The Odd Couple- a comedy treat
It is certainly odd
Oscar so messy, Felix so neat
Fred, Barney and Dino the dinosaur
Got to love the Flintstone's
I must have watched them a thousand times...or more
The Little Rascals- all of the gang
Spanky, Buckwheat, Darla...
Oh, and how Alfalfa Sang
When it comes to smartness- Abbott was the worst
Costello was the genius...
He wrote- "Who's on first"
The smartest man to play his part
Obviously, it has to be Don Adams
He was "Maxwell Smart"
The funniest lady of them all
The one that I love
I Love Lucy's- Lucille Ball
Just Stating the obvious Poetry Contest

Just one day I wanna spend with you away
On a so far island or any derelict place
Watching the sunrise , feeling every ray
Burning my passion on looking to your face
Just one night I wanna walk with you along the seaside
No talk , as eye contact can express my affection
It makes me feel being in a state of ebb and tide
As a sailor but no death in storms here , it's resurrection
Just one girl I wish from my whole universe
And maybe anything else in that world is nonsense
I believe in that as I believe in every verse
As nothing without you my dear makes sense
Just one word I wanted to say so long ago
As my feeling towards you aren't out of the blue
Beauty , soul , smartness and that charm you draw
I don't know but so many reasons made me love you

Frostily, your teeth clench when you say
Do not let yourself be so bush league:
Turn around, chin up and walk that way!
So, despite my self-doubt and fatigue
And, trusting you, I will go astray.
Having spent my life trying to prove
Myself something more than a loser
Once again, I find it hard to move
Without advice from my abuser...
But I know you would disapprove.
I possess neither smartness nor luck,
Pre-determined by genetic code
Toward a fate resembling havoc,
When I faced a fork along the road
Your voice smacked me along for luck.
Though my strong preference would have been
To chose the path of least resistance
Mediocrity would be a sin
Since you trained me for persistence...
Yet, still, this road of humiliation.
