Best Smarten Up Poems

I'M Back

Even if you don’t care I’ll tell you where I’ve been
I took a break for a while, now I’m back ready to share my pen
Ready to take revenge on every and anyone who fake cared for him
I’m back now so it doesn’t matter about where I’ve been

My words will cause an earthquake and leave you trembling
My words can hit harder than a beat from Dr Dre or timberland
Being nice gets you nowhere so I’m done with that
People have opinions of me but you can’t run from facts

Had to let go of my pain because there was a lot to hold
For the first time in my life I feel like I’ve got control
So I don’t need to search for a pot of gold
Born without a brain, became heartless, but never lost my soul

I’ve got over 1000 poems finished ready to share, with multi syllable, double and triple rhymes
And I dedicate them all to the teachers who said I had a little mind
Why should I dumb it down? You should smarten up
This world is too sensitive most of you need to harden up

I take everything as a compliment even if it comes with bad words
Got bullied for being bipolar, but I already knew I was mad first
Anxiety gets anxiety for having to deal with me
Depression told me I put up too much of a fight, that’s why it’s no longer still with me

I’ll always take the L if we talk about where we sin
You focus on my losses; I’ll make sure you know on where I win
I’ve got lyrically better and am ready to share my pen
I’m back now, so it doesn’t matter about where I’ve been

Premium Member A Certain Lunatic

Where are we headed, is a silver lining in sight
At the current pace, we'll be over the precipice before night
It's already dusk
Smarten up we must
Before a certain lunatic precipitates an extinguishing of the lights

Premium Member Grass Was Showing Only Two Days Ago

People call it a winter wonderland

I call it a lack of green

Not that green's my favourite colour

But it beats keeping driveways clean

As soon as we think our shovelling is over

Another storm hits with a blast

The grass was showing only two days ago

My hopes once more have been dashed

Silly of me to wish for such kindness

I live above the 49th parallel

To entertain such wishful thinking is folly

Keeps turning, this world carousel

Realize the gods have their own agenda

They decide on the weather we'll get

Winter is punishment for all the damn wars

Mother Nature doesn't forget

Don't think this is how it's supposed to be

It should all be sunshine and flowers

We're being punished so let's smarten up

Not worry bout who's got the power!

Premium Member Back To Live

My smart iPhone drowned, what a dread!
No purpose to get out of bed.
Can’t do without fidgets
With smarty pants digits
When my social life just dropped dead!

My buddy, from a dire grave fate,
I hastened to resuscitate.
My beloved device
I interred deep in rice -
Saved us both from desperate state!

It seems one trite banality
Of minor technicality.
The truth and the matter,
We’re addicted to latter -
Sweet virtual reality!

Though on technology we thrive,
For more exciting toys we strive,
Let’s put smart phones aside,
Out of sight, out of mind -
Let’s smarten up and live alive!

My smart iPhone drowned, what a thrill!
Hands free I go outside and chill.
My deflective device -
Silent, deep dug in rice.
I have been mastering live skill!

Premium Member Stop Acting Like a Boob

When I look in the mirror each morning
This strange dude stands there sending me a warning
Smarten up there dude
Stop acting like a boob
Or a big lump on the head you'll be adorning

Premium Member Failed Test

Now I am sleeping
The sleep of the dead
Laying in a coffin
Instead of a bed

My wife kept saying
I should have the test
I never listened
I thought I knew best

A finger in an anus
Just a simple poke
What I thought was funny
Was far from a joke

My cancer undetected
Consumed me real fast
Now instead of a future
I have a tragic past

Heed my warning
Don't do what I did
If you take this test
You avoid a coffin with a lid

I like many men fail to have regular checkups. Fortunately this is not my story but if I don't take my health decision seriously it could be. It is time for us to smarten up, book those tests! No one has ever really died from embarrasment.

Premium Member Time To Grow Up

The older I get, the more loud noises
Annoy me and cause irritation
Got sensitive ears since becoming a senior
Sometimes prefer isolation

Alone with my thoughts of a better world
And how to be good girls and boys
Instead of bickering and squabbling all day
About who's got the biggest toys

It surely is time for us guys to grow up
Been acting like kids for too long
We should smarten up, start acting our age
No more conflicts from now on

A world where people love one another
In spite of language or colour
It's really not difficult to imagine a day
Us all getting along with each other

Premium Member Ghosting

Ghosting

Online friends or family,
So selfish,they.
You could be dead and buried,
How would they know?

These are your best friends,
They loudly pronounce,
They deceitfully say,
Who cannot check emails for
180 days?

Their sidewalk fell in, the washing
machine broke,
Their 40 year old kids have a toothache,
Or in need of a bloke.
Totally, a joke.

Here's my advice, it's childish,not nice!
Tell them to take off their pants
And slide on the ice.
Better yet, change your phone number
and Addy, too!

One need not be ghosted on this
internet zoo.
Just smarten up.
Ghosting is bad for you physically
and mentally.

Bang Bang

Bang! Bang! Thump! Thump!
Went the drums of life
down, down upon your head

Bang your dead! If you
Don’t smarten up
Huh! Huh! Sugar ain’t
What it used to be

Don’t you see, it’ll eventually
catch up and then we’ll see
What’s it gonna be?
Don’t tell me you tried

Cos that’s just no good
I’m tired of the you
should! Cos you know
What?

Bang ! Bang!

Premium Member Why Is the Human Race Trying To Extinguish Itself

Why with the
proliferation of nuclear arsenals
of a global scale
it seems as if
it's inevitable.
Someone eventually
has to drop
another nuclear bomb.
It appears that
it's only a
matter of time.
Why else would
there be so many
scattered around the earth?
Not to mention
all of the Wars
that continue on & on.
You would think
that human kind
would smarten up
and put an end
to all these atrocities.

SO NOW we get warm summer weather!!!
Can't all the weather gods get together
Probably have a crystal ball
Think it needs an overhaul
If they don't smarten up, gonna beat 'em with some leather

Dumb It Down

You want me to dumb it down and write something simple
If I did that, I'd expect Shakespeare to come back from the dead and stab me with a pencil
This world is too sensitive you need to harden up
I won't dumb it down, You should Smarten up

If it ain't about Girls, partying or having fun they won't want to hear it
If it's an opinion based on real life stuff then don't you dare share it
This generation don't really care about what's going on around them
But I speak on the issues they need to hear, hoping they listen so they don't drown them

I'm a genius, because i realized there's a Genie in us so I don't wish no more
I do it myself like the brand with the tick
I could get drunk every week and stand next to chicks
But that chick and alcohol won't save you if we go to war

Blood on pavements, tears shed, flowers left as a memorial
People passing by daily, do you think the price is affordable?
Could you live with yourself knowing you left a kid fatherless?
Put the gun and knives down, Don't over react over a stupid argument

The government are the real criminals, but because I wear a hoody
They'll make you think its me, so you wrongly judge me
I'm always going to be who I am, they won't change me
I warned you about them, so when they do you wrong, don't blame me

You want me to talk about girls and say she's got a Sexy body and there's nothing more to it
Nickname her Nike because I want to just do it
If I wrote something that simple
I hope every poet would torture me and stab me with pencils

You want me to dumb it down and write something simple
If I did that, I'd expect Shakespeare to come back from the dead and stab me with a pencil
This world is too sensitive you need to harden up
I won't dumb it down, You should Smarten up

Premium Member I'm Going To the Pub - POTD

Away with work
I'm going to the pub
Not to sink my woes
Just get some grub

My room is tiny
Cats can't swing
My keyboard's here
But I can't sing

I'm four floors up
The view is fine
This bed is huge
I lie supine

Perhaps a beer
Or glass of wine?
Some veggie nosh
Would be just fine

I'll shake it off
And take the stairs
Just basic 'T' shirt
No grace, or airs

I have a book
To feed my brain
While work provides
This gravy train

So smarten up
In every sense
To feed the soul
Is common sense

Perhaps a poem
I'll take and scribe
At dull routine
I'll make a jibe

Premium Member Hope I Don'T Go Blind

Now why didn't I do this years ago
Lost a bunch and feel a hundred times better
Obsessed with eating? A resounding yes
Never followed any plan to the letter

Then one day fifteen months ago
The skies cleared and I saw a bright light
It signalled if you don't smarten up
Your soul will be taking the next flight

I'm sure not ready to cash in my chips
Literally scared the poop outta me
So I bit the bullet and stuck to a system
Can now say it's easier to breathe

Bottom line is, the more you put in
Stands to reason the body stores the excess
It was blimp time at this old guy's house
Now I'd even look good in a dress

Now don't go reading stuff into that line
Just a phrase so try to settle down
With these bulging muscles and great physique
Sure wouldn't look good in a gown

“Now this silliness has really got to stop
Can't you be serious sometimes?”
That's asking a lot from this old jester dude
I'll try hard... I hope I don't go blind!
