Best Secures Poems
Hope is the anchor that secures my soul
Needed for endurance as the Bible foretold
One of three qualities, along with faith and love
I am filled with hope to honor my Holy Father above
Hope in God's promises lightens my heavy load
It's instilled in me when I venture down a dark road
Hope has power to keep me moving in the right direction
And there I will find the mercy and love of God's protection
Hope is a means of trusting in what will be
Faith in the unseen; that is what hope means to me
Life without it fences me inside a brick wall without a gate
I believe in the Word of God; I do not adhere to destiny or fate

Embrace The Line
I do embrace that line- a badge of hope,
which left a shadow of sure death behind.
It represents the power to survive
with feats of expert hands which met the goal.
The need to put one's life on hold to gain
a better one- a promising new fate;
the fight to mend, become robust again.
I do embrace that line, a badge of faith.
A symbol of accomplishment it is;
the chance that claimed a victory for life.
That line, a jagged zipper that secures
his beating heart, amended, good as new.
I do embrace- caress that lovely line-
my darling husband's triple bypass scar.
His faded seam is etched in ivory grace-
bestowing added years of love to share.
Three decades passed, since that fantastic day
when this great miracle expanded time
for both of us to live a healthy life-
a tribute to that line- a badge of hope.
These were set in motion from the beginning of time.
Heavens abound in each of their glory, power sublime.
Every excursion that they set upon revolves in rhyme.
Solar orb that secures life upon this planet we dwell.
Universally seen around our globe, for all to tell,
Never tiring it revolves, captured within its cell.
Rising up from its core, flares of powerful streams.
I respect what has risen from the sunny beams.
Sharing the glory that it has upon everyone, it seems.
Evident by the life that it supports even in dreams,
Solar star of daylight hours continue as nature deems.
Till nightfall approaches while another completes the set.
Helping to guide travelers for centuries the positions to get,
Evening ignites different phases upon this satellites debt.
Monthly revolutions of this celestial body sway the hours.
Orbital bliss has spoken richly along with romantic flowers.
Opening souls in sensuality and fulfilling romantic powers.
New moon to which many have fell into its magical showers.
Splendor of the night as it falls to set upon the new dawns light.
Exemplary versions follow a pattern, which marvels natural sight.
Take notice of what you may be missing each upcoming night.
Said, I’ve heard, old sailors delight, shining, enchantingly bright.
I thought it would be interesting to translate a poem into Gaeilge (Native Irish language)

TRUST
In your world
I walk my heart and soul
On paving stones
I stroll as I grow old
My body
I will give to you
Forever until dust
And in your arms
I place my tender trust
My honour
And my worldly deeds
Are yours
Precious treasure
That your heart secures
In your world
Is where I want to lay
With you by me
And forever stay
IONTAOBHAS
I do domhan
Siúlóid mé mo chroí agus spiorad
Ar clocha pábhála
Spaisteoireacht mé mar a fhásann mé d'aois
Mo chorp
Beidh mé a thabhairt duit
Go dtí go Deo deannaigh
Agus i do armas
Ait mé mo mhuinín tairisceana
Mo onóir
Agus mo nGníomhas domhan
An bhfuil mise
óir lómhara
Go chroí do slán
I do domhan
An bhfuil áit ar mhaith liom a leagan
Le tú ag dom
Agus fan go deo
He Loves Her? He Loves Her Not? – An Echo Poem
By Darren White and Brian Johnston
Darren White’s Original Poem – WHAT LOVE LOOKS LIKE
PoetrySoup.com - Reprinted with permission
“If anyone asks you
how the perfect satisfaction
of all our sexual wanting
will look, lift your face
and say,
Like this.”
- Rumi
***
Darren:
I lift my face to you, my anyone
my only one, my love,
And see your question
unspoken but screamed
all over you
This is what love looks like
What it looks like with
only that one person
I see you read you
every line of you
words without any
meaning full of meaning
I read you I see your face
I taste the sun and the moon
and all the stars in all the
fireworks.

Brian Johnston’s Echo - I Do Not Doubt That Love Is Real
PoetrySoup.com and PoemHunter.com
I do not doubt that love is real,
Just shy to offer up myself
As shining gem that you might steal
Or place in glass case on a shelf,
Holding to the selfish view
That somehow I am just for you.
I know I cannot love like that
There is not ONE that I desire
My temperament is more like cat,
But, looking still, I don’t conspire
To say that I cannot be yours…
Just “Love” is not that which secures.
I doubt that Rumi showed his face,
To only one and kept this vow,
For “sexual wanting” has no place,
No love it may not disavow
“Like this” is just a moment’s urge
And untoward thoughts may quickly purge.
In love though lives a higher plane,
Where jealousy is just fool’s gold
And even dolts like me can gain
By seeing it is just blindfold!
Integrity’s your only friend,
It might just save you in the end.
For sun and moon and stars all fade,
Like vows that promise you’re the one,
Like promises made in the shade,
The truth will out though your heart’s won,
So chose a mate beloved by folk,
Don’t let your future be a joke.

Forbidden love, deadly finales, Cupid’s tragic legacy
An altering agonizing fate, a lover's tale the soul it'll violate
Romeo n Juliet had pure love, pure ecstasy
Forbidden love, deadly finales, Cupid’s tragic legacy
Samson’s lust, Delilah’s betrayal bribed from jealousy
Secrets unfurled delayed, poison secures not heaven’s gate
Forbidden love, deadly finales, Cupid’s tragic legacy
An altering agonizing fate, a lover's tale, the soul it'll violate
Pinchas lives in the museum
Where I volunteer.
His hologram is what I mean
That helps him to appear.
A Holocaust survivor
Born in 1932,
His family shared the fate expected
By each Polish Jew.
But Pinchas lived and always will;
Technology ensures it
And interactive software
By a research team secures it.
Nine hundred questions he was asked,
With cameras recording,
Resulting in a project
Both amazing and rewarding.
For visitors can thus “converse”
And Pinchas tells his story,
Reality more powerful
Than myth or allegory.
Pinchas is a teaching tool
But feels more like a friend
And by his presence we can learn
That hope may yet transcend.
January 24 Faith in God Bible Meditations Based on Exodus 19-21
Key Verse – Exodus 19:3-4 And Moses went up unto God, and the LORD called unto him out of the mountain, saying, Thus shalt thou say to the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel; Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bare you on eagles' wings, and brought you unto myself.
FAITH IN GOD WHO BEARS US ON EAGLES’ WINGS
God bears us on eagles’ wings by His loving compassion
Extra-special are we around His eternal salvation
Excellent is His power that increases our faith’s action
Exposing us to His works of perfection.
God bears us on eagles’ wings from hell-penalty’s gruesomeness
Extra-blessed are we amidst His faithfulness
Excellent is His sacrifice that grants our faith divine worthiness
Exposing us to His awesome magnificent holiness.
God bears us on eagles’ wings upon His pardoning judgment
Extra-privileged are we along His ransom of redemption-settlement
Excellent is His covenant that assures our faith of trust fulfillment
Exposing us to His standards of Scriptural measurement.
God bears us on eagles’ wings with His liberating freedom
Extra-fortunate are we to be led toward His kingdom
Excellent is His guidance that directs our faith’s walk with His wisdom
Exposing us to His great commission for functional Christendom.
God bears us on eagles’ wings along His mighty revival
Extra-benefited are we because of His promised victorious survival
Excellent is His glory that radiates in our faith’s favour and approval
Exposing us to His greatness as we await His grand arrival.
God bears us on eagles’ wings through His upholding fellowship
Extra-protected are we since we are offered His friendship
Excellent is His Word that nurtures our faith’s stewardship
Exposing us to His truths of discipleship upon servant-leadership.
God bears us on eagles’ wings toward His jubilant victory
Extra-guarded are we under His territory against evil’s fury
Excellent is His safety that secures our faith’s drive against injury
Exposing us to His ministry, especially in sharing His Gospel story.

To tennis
What a cracking sport
To play, to lose all worldly cares.
Returning
To the tennis court –
That small rectangle, out of time;
Win or lose
It doesn’t matter,
I’ll keep my focus on the game,
Satisfy
My ruthless nature
With tuneful thwack of gut on rubber.
One set all,
It’s forty-thirty:
A sizzling ace secures the game.
Up above
In beech tree grandstand,
A crowd of rooks croak their applause.
With topspin,
Drop-shot, forehand smash,
Exhausting rally,……. gasp for breath,
All too soon,
Game, set and match, then
It’s back to work, my lunchtime spent.
Subdue my senses like serenities face
a heartfelt happy embellished
his canter skilled with heavens grace
a companionship barley unblemished
except that she rides alone
Into the storm gathering speed
she squeezes her knees tipping her heels
gunning for the feeling she longs to be sealed
unleashed like the fury of a thunders peal
Her saddle steals with shift of weight
her balance for the run
like symmetry never expecting to yield
adrenalin hiking the fearful unknowns
There she rides alone
Her life is cinched an aimless roam
her hunger for the feeling of home
with subtle sounds like flexing leather
is the tearing of her heart like the storms she weathers
carried on waves of an emerald trail
turned wheat in Autumns image
Buckskins beat secures her seat
and gives her thoughts to visage
Though there's nowhere in this world she'd rather be
she can't shake the feeling of the missing
destined to wings that fly alone
no companion for her soul in the cheering
This is why she calls him Tuff
Hedeman in a lady she cowgirl's up...
looks her pony in the eyes
reminding her that the tough don't cry
Just take Bodacious by the horns
knowing "impossible" will not hold the throne
always through pain our courage is born
though every eight seconds she rides alone
She'll keep her head up high
never giving in to the pain
lessons she learned from her hero's
Cowboys Tuff and Lane
Warm, sticky hands palm off dry, self-centred ground,
Touched by gingerly acclaiming seeds of new-borns:
Ready, willing and eager for the harsh, expecting role,
Supposedly not with any crudeness, brashness or horns;
As we sit in it, my tears embrace his spritely youth,
And I ask for forgiveness for my naive, vigorous misdeed:
He secures me with his smile and instinctive composure,
Such that I no longer trepidatiously have to sweat and bleed;
Permanency fairly permeates my fearful, angered heart:
The hope of someone else to tease the difficult, awkward task;
My failure becomes his promise, and his foundation strong,
So that the demand is no longer a mountainous, rocky ask.
When you yourself cannot conquer the rough terrain,
Your friends and lovers attend to take the strain.
2nd of October 2015
Though you're not there
You still leave a presence
Thinking of happiness gives you the chills
Like a kid opening christmas presents
At night you drown your sorrows
But tonight your sober
But yet that bottle numbs the "Pain all Over"
I know you don't say it
Your actions explains it all
All you want is someone
That right one
To catch you when you fall
It's definately hard to say
But you wish you were closer
Wishing he would hold you tight
Tell you it's alright
Just to ease that "Pain all Over"
I'm just on the outside looking in
Patiently waiting to be that man
That secures your heart
Speaks to your soul
Listens and understands
You can say there are no good men
It's time for a change over
I'm trying to compliment your intelligence
Carress your mind
Be a part of your surrounding essence
Be that drug that makes you wonder
Just to stop that "Pain all Over"
Unfettered lightning lash through the fury of the rain,
Sizzle mouths dry with shock of glory.
Athlete that made our jubilee golden, mighty Usain
Inciting the petrified blend each new victory
Nested within love of hope and love of glory.
Bridge us through the overbrimming and the pride
Olympian, orbit history like a carpet before
Love's lesson cannot be spelt again. Be strongly sure
Thunder will not break the pact between possibility and dream.
ii
Usain Bolt, do you know what limit is in our flesh
Surfing on opponents wind strainless to the end
African panting away from the hard invisible mesh
Inflicting us with pain - memories with me contend
Naturally, for the ***** rises as human again.
Bold man of grace, runner with the panther's ease
Ovations rise from within and without the race
Laurels for the worth that we may not grovel on our knees
Triumph has many friends where love secures its place.
iii
Understanding only a form of speed tells nothing still
Simpler in the hearts denied a brighter beacon burns
A worth within the breadth and scope of human will
Insistent above the error of history, respect now earns
Nation and ***** a voice to speak in all the cause of man.
Bridge me then delight into the glory of your jubilee
Omit me not to light a princely tribute for your deeds
Lovelier than the loveliest of gazelle in raptured glee
Thundering in hostile skies where only lightning succeeds.

Charon—The Eternal Ferryman
The mythical ferryman extraordinaire of such keen gaze,
Who braves the Styx and Acheron in the deepest of haze.
Charon is a most sordid God who relishes his work as the
“Ferryman of Hades,” carrying new souls to their oblivion.
With an obolus as payment and a flash of his fiery-fierce eyes,
Charon performs his morbid task with a frightening alacrity!
With his winged-demon appearance and horrifying demeanor,
He terrifies all newly-deceased souls who face his vile being!
The world of the dead is the final destination for those who
Depart from the dark, dreary shores of the Styx and Acheron.
The deft ‘n cruel skull-crushing force of Charon’s ferryman’s pole,
Ensures that all lost souls in his charge never question his orders!
Charon’s fealty and devotion to Hades are absolute in his actions as
He secures the paramountcy of the world of the dead from the living.
The fleeting and finite nature of our mortal coil ensures that we shall
One day ascend heavenward or descend into a state of total perdition.
Without any doubt, if it be perdition, Charon shall be there to greet us
With the grim gaze of his fiery-fierce eyes as he carries us to our doom!
Don’t forget your obolus—or else!
Without this silver coin the wild wrath of Charon shall be upon you!

More than twelve hundred souls
Meet their watery grave.
German U-boat patrols
Spark a fatal shockwave.
This echo of the past
Resounds throughout history.
Rousing war unsurpassed,
Deadly shroud of mystery.
The empire aids Cunard,
Loaning millions in pounds.
Lord Inverclyde toils hard
On deceptions unsound.
They hide admiralty
Within their merchant fleet,
And in reality
War barons plot deceit.
Famed cruiser so agile
Brings home the Blue Riband.
Propellers prove fragile,
New designs would respond.
While retooling the craft,
Gun mountings are installed.
Hidden away most daft
Down where the ropes are hauled.
However they decide
To switch their new design.
Large cargo holds shall hide
Munitions in her spine.
War with Germany starts
With land mines and blockades.
America builds parts
While Britain launches raids.
The Isles become war zones
With no sure passage back.
Submarines would throw stones
To sink the Union Jack.
So Daniel Dow protests
This British smuggling ring.
The prior chief suggests
Attacks these loads will bring.
A German message warns:
"Huge risk at British sea!
If allied flags adorn,
They'll be hacked to debris!"
Captain Turner is picked
To lead the merchant ship.
"Speed shall avoid conflict
On this momentous trip."
Voyage two hundred-one
Departs Pier 54
Under a watchful sun,
Fresh ammo in her store.
Steaming toward Fastnet Rock,
Bowler Bill seeks advice.
Three ships are sunk in shock,
Warnings are confirmed twice.
Posting double look-outs,
They ready the lifeboats.
Bill secures a black out
While taking careful notes.
Thirty miles from Cape Clear,
The vessel enters fog.
Weather thwarts so severe
The captain slows their slog.
The periscope spots them
As orders are passed down.
One button shall condemn,
Destruction all around.
The Old Head of Kinsale
Watches the missile glide.
The bomb shreds to assail
Those weapons stowed inside.
