Love Said Collab With the Silent One - POTD

POTD 27 Sept 2023

~LOVE SAID ~
"Go find her, set her free."

In my search, I found an array of colourful petals,
An abundance of aromatic aromas.

Each one, I hydrated with my blood and tears,
But each one pricked me with their thorns.

Fatigued ~ pondering an end to my quest,
I prepared for a life without a petal of my own.

A voice whispered ~
"Look this way."
And there you were

Glimmering under twilight's delight,
So I planted you in my heart,
So you can blossom in an ocean of love...

by The Silent One
And Maria Williams

French Lyric translation

Quand il me prend dans ses bras
(When he takes me in his arms)
Il me parle de tout bas
(he speaks to me softly)
Je vois la vie en rose
(I see life in pink)
Every time you kiss me, Heaven sighs
Il me dit des mots d'amour
(he tells me words of love)
Don't know why
Des mots de tous les jours
(everyday words)
I close my eyes
Et ça m'fait quelque chose
(and it touches me)

If only you would
Give your heart and soul to me
And life will always be
La vie en rose
(The life in pink)

Some amazing talents come together here.
Thank you Silent One for your collaboration with me on this creative poem.
Ron Williams, for video direction and composition, which we put together.
And to David Luke for his excellent narration.

Premium Member What I Should Have Said Then

Remember that night, one of so many of course
When the waitress asked if we were on our first date
We’d talked for three hours till our voices were hoarse
The laughter we shared no one could create

It must have been the joy in our hearts she saw
For eighteen years there’d been no one who meant more
Never for a moment did our love withdraw
I joked and said it was the cologne you wore

Impotence had rendered you last in some eyes
But there was no man who made me happier
My affection for you never compromised
Of my self-worth, you were the certifier

The last time I saw your 95-pound frame
As you lay smiling in the hospice bed
My adoration I just could not proclaim
Couldn’t look back, still wanted to look ahead

My head on your hand, tears formed a puddle
So much in my heart, but at a loss for words
I waited for your angel as we cuddled
Finally they arrived, not one, they flew in herds

The spirit of contentment shone o’er your face
I swear to this day I saw your spirit rise
You faced your death with such dignity and grace
I could not bring myself to utter goodbyes

But now as I pray, the words finally come
“God blessed me with a special friend always true
And now as I hear heaven’s harps ever strum
I know there’ll never be another like you”

Premium Member Death Said To the Rose

Who bade your life to live as such
pervading hearts with perfumed nose?
As down thy petals tempt the touch
when all for passions sake you're chose.

With lifetimes taken to bloom no more
you flower to favor all those who mourn,
then dance to dirges at misfortunes shore
un-bowing in tribute exalting fates thorn.

When the last crimson fades and darkness unfurls
and from winters hoarfrost you wither and fall
who'll mourn at your bedside as scentless wind swirls
and answer grave's whispers when I make my call.

So dance in the sunlight as long as you will,
While a vestige of fortune desires you still.

You Said Jco

You looked down at me, blue eyes intent on freezing, looked past my tears, and
said you loved me.
There was no expression on your face, no warmth in your kiss, you told me you
cared, and wanted only me.
I placed my hands on your back, kissed that mouth and told you how beautiful I
thought you were. Then you smiled that first smile you told me I was absolutely
amazing.
When the sweat was dry, and the air was still, you wrapped your legs in mine, and
stroked my hair. You shared all the moments of your past, the plans of the future,
and the child like excitement of your dreams overwhelmed me into tears.
I fell in love with you. I fell hard. I fell for a man who felt nothing for me. I fell into
the arms of something that I dreamt was there, but faded, like the scent of your
skin. I never knew how blind I was. I never thought it would hurt to let you go. I
never thought I would have to. I never thought you would ever hurt me, instead
you crushed me.
You told me you loved me, and you cared. You told me I was worth everything, but
you left me. You just left me. No note. No call. No email. Nothing. You just
disappeared leaving me to feel like everything everyone had ever said about you;
everything you said you were, was true.
I danced with you. I let you in to my heart. You saw my soul. You knew everything.
You were everything to me. How could you do this to me? Why did you have to lie
and tell me it was only me? Why did you tell me I was it for you? Why did you tell me
you loved me, and cared so damn much? Why didn’t you stop to think about me
just once before eating that cake you so had to have.
You looked down at me, eyes still frozen, and begged me to have that baby. There
was a beautiful smile on your face, and you said you loved me.
You watched me move, and I heard you sigh. I thought it meant everything. You
said I was everything. You said you loved me. I thought you loved me

She Said

She said..
I'm gonna kiss you in slow motion
Maybe take a ride upon your ocean

I'd like to pull you gently into me
The way salt dances in the sea

I'm gonna tease you with my hair
Let you touch me here and there

Teach me things that I don't know
Like rhymed beats, in and out flow

Let your tidal waves rush over me
Your hurricane, umm.. feel and see
This fierce love, my favorite song
Lets sail these waters all night long

Your fingertips gliding over my skin
Makes me want to crash on you again

She said..
Let your tidal waves rush over me
Your hurricane, umm.. feel and see
This fierce love, my favorite song
Lets sail these waters all night long

Let your tidal waves rush over me
Your hurricane, umm.. feel and see
This fierce love, my favorite song
Lets sail these waters all night long
She said..

She said!

Someone Said, Hey Christopher

Someone said, Hey Christopher

Someone said, “Hey Christopher,
what’s up with all this love
It seems in every poem
that is all you’re thinking of

Why are you always dreaming,
why is it you can’t see
That love is just a legend,
a made up fallacy

The world is filled with evil,
don’t you watch the news
CNN or NBC
or others you can choose

Clinton is a liar,
Trump is just a creep
They’ll both destroy the nation
for fortunes that they reap

Murders by the thousands,
death is in the streets
I can’t believe you haven’t seen
within the many tweets

Our water is polluted,
we’re choking on the air
Hate is growing rapidly,
why are you not aware

Prices through the ceiling,
paychecks in the ground
Protesters are screaming,
you can hear them all around

There’s war in other countries,
servers have been hacked
Innocent bystanders
are caught in the attack

Little kids are crying,
not enough to eat
Begging just to make it,
sleeping in the street

So tell me, will you Christopher,
what’s up with what you write
Every poem filled with love,
morning, noon and night”

I looked at him a moment,
this person I now see
And then replied, “I’m sorry sir,
were you talking to me?

I was writing out a poem
for the one I do adore
I didn’t hear you talking,
could you say it all once more?”

He just walked away shaking his head

When Farewell Must Be Said

*For anyone who had a companion dog that grew old and tired*

I am gazing out across an empty land,
there is not a thing that interests me.
There is no happiness, in any tear I weep,
for it’s so hard to set your best friend free.

Simply there’s no choice in the time of life,
for nothing born can claim eternity,
so comes a time the head must rule the heart,
but it’s so hard to set your best friend free.

Comfort is to reminisce about the past,
and not dwell on what is a personal cost.
I should be celebrating for the love we had;
not mourning about what I have lost.

Premium Member Mother Said

mother said that I was her angel
she surrounded me always with her love and warmth
and since her death I have been empty
there are days when I am angry

with my mother I could share each secret
every nightmare dreamt
she would help me solve a problem
and send away each monster

now, my heart has been pierced
and on my soul are forever bleeding wounds
there are days my misery comes to engulf
oh, what I would do for one more glimpse

of all things mother said not a single one was false
her wise words to me were the best amongst
all others ... she had a wisdom and depth
and now, that I have lost mother ... I have nothing

                      (Especially, for new writers)

Just as in real life, some poets have the art of wearing masks of friendship.
You will know, when they stop commenting to all your works.
It's not rocket science to figure it out.
They just stop posting to you totally and it feels like being hit with a boxing glove.

No, your poetry is not inferior!
In fact, you may be a more than one time POTD winner!
Even then, they simply refuse to acknowledge you.

They just ride on white unicorns, under an allusion that they are superior?
How cheap, how tawdry, how unloving and cruel!
These poets who think they are some precious jewels?

But you must go on, though they ignore you like dirt.
They are nothing but arrogant, selfish-centered squirts.

The most loving poets are here in abundance.
They honor you, love you..
These lift your soul with a sweet, humble incense filled cadence.

......Write-on..ignore the unicorn riders......

"By their fruits, you will know them!"

The Things Our Parents Said
By Robert (Bob) Moore

The things that we remember, from days of long ago
we believed, it was all true, our parents told us so
we now know they were kidding us, a trick on me and you
to make us do just what it was, they wanted us to do

If I was pulling funny faces, from something that was said
my mam would tell me “stop it”, and then she’d shake her head
you’ll be sorry, she would say , “for if the wind should change”
that’s the look you’ll have forever, everyone will think you’re strange

we were told, “to catch the worm, we had to get up early”
you had to “eat all of your crusts, if you wanted your hair curly,”
if you “asked a stupid question, you would get a stupid answer.”
and if you dared to answer back, that would be disaster

it did not matter what went wrong, “a cup of tea would fix it”,
if you were at your Granny’s place, you might even get a biscuit
“you will live by my rules, while your living at my place”
“because I said so, that’s why”, and “wipe that look off your face”

“if all your friends jumped off a bridge, would you do it too”
“I just hope when you have kids, they’re all as bad as you”
“don’t you dare do what I do, you just do what I say,”
“I’ll even help you pack your bags, if you want to run away”

“be a pigs foot in the morning”, that is what my dad would say
if I ever hurt myself in some really stupid way
I didn’t want a trotter, growing from my arm or brain
don’t “Kak your Keks”, it’ll soon heal up, and “you’ll be right as rain”

If there’s kids starving in China, does it help to eat my food
“I’ll have to wash your mouth with soap”, if you don’t stop being rude
“I’m not asking you, I’m telling you”, “don’t take that tone with me”
“I’ll give you something to cry about” just you wait and see.

We all remember things we heard, and promised not to say
but now and then our parents training, just gets in the way
and we find that we are sounding, just like our parents did
and passing these silly sayings, down the line, and to our kid

Santa Said To Jesus

Santa challenged Jesus,
his words were cold as ice;
"I bring toys and happiness"
"I love this festive life"

"I travel around the world,
bringing lots of cheer"
"I have my own shop,
with strapping reindeer"

"I can fly up a chimney,
with a finger aside my nose"
"My elves are working daily,
with bells upon their toes"

"I have a huge mansion,
beyond the North Pole"
"Everybody loves me,
from the youngest to the old"

"I can see the naughty,
the nice and witty too"
"Tell me, dear Jesus,
what exactly can you do?"

Jesus answered quickly,
And this is what he said,
"I can heal the sick,
and even raise the dead"

"I can walk on water,
make a blind man see"
"Your elves are my disciples,
who follow faithfully"

"You say you have a mansion?"
"My Father has many"
"My children's humble prayers,
are answered by me"

"I can turn water,
to the purest of wine"
"I can cast out demons,
to the lowest of swine"

"I can soothe mighty seas,
I can feed the multitude"
"I gave my life for sinners,
you're one I must include"

"I was born for a purpose,
do not forsake this cause"
"Without my resurrection,
there'd be no Santa Claus"

"I will have the final word,
prepare for Judgement Day"
Santa bowed to Jesus,
he began to weep and pray

Santa visits once a year,
Jesus is twenty-four seven;
Ho, ho, ho, and mistletoe,
won't get you into heaven

Merry Christmas!

Premium Member Doctor Said

An apple every day, he said to me.
Berries too, for your recovery.

Can I have just one small slice of pie?

Doctor nearly glared into my eye!
Even nuts and cheese you must not eat.

For Heaven's Sake, Doctor,  I need a treat!

Good food should not be processed, white or fried.

How about some egg whites on the side?
(I was being snide because it's no
Joke that yolk is always good to go!)

Knowing I should lay off yummy things
Like burgers, chocolate, and pizza brings
Me such great angst! Everybody knows
No vegetables compare to fried potatoes!

On Thanksgiving, I will do some cheating.
Popcorn (hot-air popped)  I will be eating!

Premium Member You Said You Understood

Listen, Heathcliff, don't get me wrong,
but hanging with you isn't good.
You're a dragon, and I'm a mouse,
last night you said you understood.

That weird look in your eye says that
you want more than a cup of tea.
Now don't go getting teary-eyed,
yesterday, you almost drowned me!

I know you say you gave up meat,
but honestly, I can't trust you.
And whether hungry or horny,
your hanging around me won't do.

You must've seen me hold my nose,
so add it up, man, do the math.
Just because you hate the water
doesn't mean you can't take a bath.

Heathcliff, it's been a trip, my man,
but it is time for you to go.
And if you come back tomorrow,
don't be surprised if I don't show.
