Best Rock And Roll Poems
They broke the news
to me today
That my friend - who loved rock and roll
had left this mortal coil
We used to burst into song
when we saw each other
He loved screaming guitars
and played one himself
He died in his forties
He wasn't watching his health carefully
which is something we all should do
I remember the times
he shared his food with me
He was generous in that way
My rock and roll friend is gone
Now I'll have to sing metal tunes by myself
We all we face the grim reaper
but his passing came too soon, too soon
I will think of him
When I hear rock and roll from my radio
His memory will live on with his friends and loved ones
Another rocker gone....
I drumbeat your heartbeat
Sweat beating off body heat
I red dye your blue sky
With thunderbolt electrify
Play until my fingers numb
The fine hairs of your eardrums
And rapture into a new verse
Onto your flawless miss universe
My voice caresses the airwaves
All I want is for you to believe
When you hear the love part
Of my serenade in your heart
I don’t know why I lose control
But something deep in my soul
Fine tunes to your signal
‘cos babe my soul is rock-and-roll
And when you hear the drum roll
It’s just my stomach babe gal
Feeling your butterfly effect
Bracing for a powerful impact
When you charge onto the stage
‘cos even rock stars come of age
Hope to still pull your heartstrings
Through your earpiece when I sing
So I drumbeat your heartbeat
Sweat beating off body heat
I red dye your blue sky
With thunderbolt electrify
Play until my fingers numb
The fine hairs of your eardrums
And rapture into a new verse
Onto your flawless miss universe

Rock and Roll
Feed me things
That keep me awake
I feel alive
What a perfect date
False friends
Within my circle
False visions
I can't escape
Line after line
Star amongst the sky
Strung out, supernova
Reaching for that first glorious high
Tears welling up
Filling my guitar moon
No more strings to pick
No music to brew
I was born to rock, but now I think it's time to roll
a deck of cards
a roll of dices
monopoly
you go to jail
an other chance
you hopscotch the streets
or should I say the side walk
as for ever you liked the games
of chance and scrabble
your brain to understand
the meaning of all
the avenue looks pretty good
from the stoops with your crayons
they come in boxes of your choosing
and you can melt the wax
making sure your carpet won't catch fire
as you wove it with wool from woolworth
and where are those stores
just a story and a web you are godiva
and ride the horse to amazon
the nile you left behind with papyrus
but trying to find where the roll begins
to wipe your ass is disconcerting
a smile and a grin for you to figure
We tuned our guitars, we're ready to play our tune.
On a rock & roll ride.Guitar slide to the moon.
Heavy metal, hard rock & roll.
There's enough music to sooth the soul.
We got enough time, to reach the moon.
We got enough time, to play our tune.
Heavy metal, hard rock & roll.
There's enough music to sooth the soul.
Guitar slide, rocket ride in tune.
We built our rocket. We'll fly off to the moon.
Climb on board. No time to stay. It's time to say.
That we tuned our guitars. We're ready to play our tune.
We're off the ground. We'll be on our way real soon.
On a rock & roll ride.Guitar slide to the moon.
Heavy metal, hard rock & roll.
There's enough music to sooth the soul.
We got enough time, to reach the moon.
We got enough time, to play our tune.
On a rock & roll ride.Guitar slide to the moon...

I Grew Up on Country Music
When Rock and Roll was king
My friends all liked the Beatles
But, that was not my thing
I liked to hear the fiddle
To hear the joy burst from the strings
I Grew Up on Country Music
When Rock and Roll was king
I remember me and Grandad
Listening to the radio
We would listen to the Opry
While my friends went to the show
Johnny Cash, The Gatlins,
Grandpa Jones, and Old Hank Snow
I was raised on country music
I just wanted you to know
I loved the feeling I would get
when I heard a country tune
Singing about trucks and girls
And a golden Tennessee Moon
Charlie Daniels, Jimmy Dean
The Judds, and Roger Miller
Willie, Waylon, Tom T. Hall
and Jerry Lee...the Killer
I Grew Up on Country Music
When Rock and Roll was king
My friends all liked the Beatles
But, that was not my thing
I liked to hear the fiddle
To hear the joy burst from the strings
I Grew Up on Country Music
When Rock and Roll was king
Country lost it's western
and Rock it lost it's roll
But, still old country music
Those tunes just made me whole
I learned all of the lyrics
And I love to hear them sing
I grew up on Country Music
When Rock and Roll was King
I Grew Up on Country Music
When Rock and Roll was king
My friends all liked the Beatles
But, that was not my thing
I liked to hear the fiddle
To hear the joy burst from the strings
I Grew Up on Country Music
When Rock and Roll was king
I heard drums kick in. Now I hear that music. Wait, What's THAT?!
(Sung to HELLO, I LOVE YOU by the Doors.)
Oh, yeah, she's swaying, so get out of her way.
Oh, no, she's stopping now, she's looking my way.
Oh, yeah, sashaying and she won't be defied.
Oh, no, a goddess who just won't be denied.
She's drops her glasses low
Just to watch me sizzle slow.
She coos just like a dove.
The panther purrs steamy summer love.
Oh, yeah, she's swaying, so get out of her way.
Oh, no, she's stopping now, she's looking my way.
Oh, yeah, sashaying and she won't be defied.
Oh, no, a goddess and she won't be denied.
Her curves turn tight and free.
A brand new form of geometry.
Her eyes like lasers, melting men into mush
When she styles, she gives me such a rush.
Why Am I Bending To Those Strings?!
She bobs her head and her luscious mane.
Now she’s off to tease in a faster lane.
Do you want to see her coyly smile?
If she gave an inch, would you run a mile?
Oh, yeah! Oh No!
Oh, Yeah! Oh, No! Oh yeah! Oh, No! (Repeat and fade out :)
And underneath it all is heard:
She’s fine. Divine. She’s all that a man would crawl for.
My mommas warning me…Rock, yeah
Go on, baby, I’m yours, you’re mine… Yeah…
I had a disagreement the other day
with my pal Floyd who passed my way
He brought his new sculpture for me to see
Floyd's a fine artist, on that we agree
"Wow" said I, "It's an Iron Butterfly"
"He'll soar with The Eagles right up to the sky"
Said Floyd "In the wings I set colored glass"
"That Deep Purple shade really lends some class"
"That glass is Pink, Floyd" I responded to him
"Your grasp of color must be growing dim"
"You're Bad Company son" said Floyd to me
"By the way, can my dog use your yard to pee?"
"Go ahead" said I, with a bit of a 'sheesh'
As he Led Zeppelin, his dog, by the leash
He told me he's taking his art on a tour
through Kansas, Boston and Chicago for sure
Then Floyd headed down to Emerson Lake
& Palmer his friend was there grilling steak
As for me, I'm leaving this Traffic and noise
I'll be spending the day down at The Beach, Boys
But wouldn't you know it, I broke me some bones
when I slipped and fell on some Rolling Stones
So Guess Who's sitting at home in a cast
and I'm hoping these Dire Straits go fast
But my Twisted Sister who just stopped by
brought some Cream filled eclairs and apple pie
Which brightens my Journey and makes me smile
and eases The Kinks in my back for a while
Silhouettes in fume thump to a doom,
They stomp with the rhythm of drums,
They point to the sky and spread open wide,
Their wrists and fingers and thumbs,
These thousands of people joined at the hip,
Joined by a common desire,
To lose themselves in the roar from within,
As the music soars higher and higher,
To a place where they’re safe away from their thoughts,
All worries are left on the floor,
And they can exist in the happy free now,
Their mind’s been released to explore,
Life without fake, no pretend, no polite,
Life without wearing some wig,
And they can all be utterly free,
At the rock band, the concert, the gig.
Maybe I didn't listen when you told me
Your heart was gentle and kind
Maybe I didn't understand, but you could
have shown me...
All the reasons you were going to move on
All the feelings that were finally gone
All the chances I had actually blown!
Maybe I didn't know you
because I never knew
the way that you would leave me
deceive me with the honest truth
Believe me, darling – I never knew
Finally, I let you down for the last time
You're going away to never return
And I don't have a right to follow you
Into the future where you’ll be without me
Girl, I'm sorry that I never sold you
On the belief that I was the King of Rock
You said I was like a stone instead,
Always holding you down so you'd
Nearly sink like a rock!
Maybe I didn't know you
Quite as well as I should have
Because I didn't know you
Would leave me without a second thought
All the reasons that I love you
Have been buried with our past
You are the reason that I'm discouraged
This King of Rock just doesn't roll like
he did when he was there beside you,
bringing hope to the heart, faith to the soul
feelings that were dim to the brilliance of a light
so alive it feels like, here on the inside...
Maybe I will never believe you
could just leave me without a reason to…
Sing this song, pleading with you
to listen to my heart - it is beating for you!
Yes, darling - You were always on my mind
YOU WERE ALWAYS ON MY MIND

Bill Haley gave us 'Rock Around The Clock'
showed us music in a different way,
Chuck Berry sang 'Johnny B. Goode'
and Buddy Holly said 'That'll Be The Day'.
Elvis went to 'Heartbreak Hotel'
and came back as the king of pop,
Jerry Lee sent us 'Great Balls Of Fire'
while Danny and his group were 'At The Hop'.
The Everly's were saying 'Bye Bye Love'
Bobby Darin was out 'Beyond The Sea',
Little Richard was with 'Long Tall Sally'
and Lloyd Price thought he was 'Stagger Lee'.
Paul Anka introduced us to 'Diana'
Del Shannon told us of his 'Runaway',
Big Bopper talked about 'Chantilly lace'
and the Rolling Stones said love 'Not Fade Away'.
Eddie Cochran took 'Three Steps To Heaven'
Don McLain made 'American Pies',
Roy Orbison was still lost 'In Dreams'
as the Platters sang 'Smoke Gets In Your Eyes'.
When the music began to change
jazz, blues and rock and roll,
got more electronic and louder
became rock, heavy metal and soul.
There are a lot more I could name
but I guess I'll just call them the rest,
It's a long time ago but I'll never forget
Rock and Roll for me was the best.
My feet are on the Rock
And my name is on the Roll
When I gave my heart to JESUS
He became my cornerstone
Yes, an angel wrote it
In a book of solid gold
My feet are on the Rock
And my name is on the Roll

IT’S ONLY ROCK AND ROLL
“I know it’s only rock ‘n’ roll”
The music genre that emerged
In the early to mid-fifties
Called rock music in mid-sixties
With a back beat and a dance rhythm
I know it’s only rock ‘n’ roll
“I wanna rock and roll all night”
To this edgy style of music.
Music derived from the rhythm and
Blues, boogie-woogie, jazz and swing
I know it’s only rock ‘n’ roll
With “Rhythm and rhyme and harmony”
So “Let that rhythm get into you”
In freeing your soul, in dancing
And grooving, in drifting away
I know it’s only rock ‘n’ roll
1. “I know it’s only rock ‘n’ roll” – It’s Only Rock ‘n’ Roll (but I Like it) – The Rolling Stones
2. “I wanna rock and roll all night” – Rock and Roll All Nite - Kiss
3. “Rhythm and rhyme and harmony” – Drift Away – Mentor Williams
4. “Let that rhythm get into you” – Rock With You – Michael Jackson
Here comes Mr rock and roll
who thinks its cool to be alone
I wonder if he thinks the same
Seven years to the day.
Walking down the street again
trying to find some friends to see
wondering why
No body interesting in you today.
When that day comes around
The words in your head will agree
Why did this happen to me?
People used to love me,
Then you'll wish that maybe you
Were kind to those broken hearts
Maybe you wouldn't be alone
Just staring at your silent phone.
Here comes Mr rock and roll
Another day spent on his own
Staring down at his phone
Poor Mr rock roll all alone.
There’s some what smokes
There’s some take drugs
There’s some that hit’s the bottle
But that’s not me
Oh no sirree !
Cause me I do the lot’ll
