Best Rhino Poems
My rhino can play the flute
And is good at the maracas to boot
Alas he is quite forlorn
For his flute bangs into his horn
So now he has a saxophone to toot
Run rhino run, just like cousin cheater
Cheat on them
They are coming again ,now it’s against
Like brother lion fight back
Their stories are made, maiming your horn
They have been there in Bukavu and left it dry
They have been in Bujumbura, left it bloody
Run my rhino run; give them a run of their money
Run rhino run, don’t fight on their folly, just run
Run to the deep forest of Mayombe, straight to
Let them not catch you, kill you, evil
Fight to the core of you skill
Defend your skin
Run to the hut of MADIBA
Hide your horns
Remove them before you perish,
Listen it’s a fight not against you
It’s a fight against me,
I am your shepherd
I cry all the time, their
Bullets designed to eliminate you, my flock
Run rhino run, quick to me, refuge
Fight not evil by evil
Fight not greed by lies
Just run and live,
If you can fly high into the heavens of gods
Run rhino, you can run, quicker than their arsenal
The visas said kill not,
Their passport said you are none
The licenses said kill the shepherd
Spare not the sheep
Run rhino run,
Find me at the corner
Hold me, strong majesty
Rhino Run
I fancied to catch me a rhino
A black one, but caught an albino
It seemed that my lure
Was not quite secure
He broke loose and charged my behin--Oh!!

Rotund rhinoceros, short chubby legs
Gingerly walks between old ostrich eggs
She is full of sass
As she makes a pass
Please get me a rainbow tutu, she begs.
I ride on Ryley Rhino
as down the river we go.
He knows things I want to know.
I said, “There’s a flashy fish!
Watch it swirl and swish!”
Ryley Rhino said, “I know.”
I said, “There’s a crocodile!
Look at its smug smile.”
Ryley Rhino said, “I know.”
I said, “There’s a sneaky snake!
I wonder if its name is Jake.”
Ryley Rhino said, “I know.”
"Ryley Rhino you're so smart,
I love you with all my heart!”
Ryley Rhino said, “I know.”
Just like I said it would go down the Speaker of the House
sold you out to (liberal left) makes him a rhino louse
Obama called and thanked him, for giving his suppport
A great big hug across the aisle for his number one cohort
Most on the right don't realize, the damage that he's done
John Boehner "clone", (a rhino true) he'll destroy us, make us one
The secret pact that he has made with Obama and his crew
Hidden deep inside that Bill is Obama through and through
Breaks my heart to know he turned, can't call him traitor though
You can, call him "Obamas Clone" his family may not know
Won't be long you'll feel the pain, things hidden in the Bill
you'll wonder, just whose side they're on and it's not yet over still
Lots of funding in the bill, for refugees and more
Illegals? Yes they're in there too, so now you're getting sore?
Yes there's health care for them all, no it's not for you
food and clothing, heat and rent, all those gifts are true
I know it only bothers those, paying taxes every day
the rest don't care, they get their share, a guaranteed monthly pay
The sham created on both sides (John Boehner/ Ryan song)
Paul Ryan standing tall and proud as though there's nothing wrong.....
When God created me He said Rhino
I want you to stay away from people
For they will fear your horn so much
They will kill you before you kill them
So He decreed that I should dwell
In the thick bushes of the savannah
And there have my being and fun
Feeding off shoots, grass and leaves
Look after your horn, He said to me
I have been doing that for millennia
Till one day man came looking for me
He had a loaded rifle, arrows and a saw
Before I could say hello something hit me
As I narrate this I am hornless and dying
Tell that man that I was created by God
So that man may enjoy a day in the wild
Tell him if he does not stop butchering us
God will send men by far more powerful
And better armed to hunt him down, yes
To hunt him down and bring him to justice!
For God has given him enough weapons
For his ego and his selfish self indulgence
If he cannot engage in a sustainable utilization
Of what God provided him he is truly doomed!
the rhino & cougar conundrum
fair enough to say that when
s/he got into it, when she dove
head-first into the pool of passion with
both eyes closed & arms outstretched,
that there was an inherent excitement
to be found attractive at his/her age
by someone so much younger &
all the fantasies in the head
from carnal sex to just getting to
stroll down the street with
this young thang hangin’ off her/his
shoulder (and the whole world seems to be
jealous)
run rampant,
as the romance gets off with a bang,
banging like bunnies persists &
s/he feels reinvigorated,
for this new young person in his/her life
becomes an integral part in
the beefing up of what had been a falling
self-esteem,
a failing personal value, a
slave to the depreciation of age &
this culture that wants absolutely nothing
to do with.
and as time passes, s/he even begins to think
that this could become something real &
that all the doubts of his/her friends
may not be proved correct &
after convincing him/herself that these very
doubtful friends are in fact
jealous,
s/he quietly, secretly, tells him/herself
that quintessential delusion…
that this person just might be
“the one.”
quick came the wandering eyes &
the insecurities came bubbling,
with an oozing jealousy of everyone around &
the double whammy stirring in the mind
that this young thang that said rhino/cougar
had hooked, could simply leave one day
with the rest of their lives ahead of them,
having burned away “the prime of one’s life”
like the proverbial candle wick.
so in fear, the rhino/cougar begins to do things
that they never thought they would,
in order to “keep” the young thang in their lives---
in the bedroom, they bow to the will of their
young lover, in the bar, they half to at least meet
them half-way under the table &
if need be, they must lose weight, dress in revealing
clothing, mingle with every friend, no matter
how dirty or strung out,
so much so, that the rhino/cougar lives in eternal worry
that their days are numbered,
wondering that if they get out now,
that they’ll have enough pizzazz to hook somebody else,
or that they will have to push themselves to the
furthest limit, in order to stay in this.
Rhino poachers often hunt at night
When the Rhino has poor eye sight.
These prehistoric creatures
Cannot distinguish human features.
But with a well-developed sense of smell
Fortunately they can always tell
When danger or a poacher is close,
Thanks to their sensitive nose.
Every horn that they take back,
And Rhino body that they hack,
Is yet more money in their belt,
To which no sentiment is felt.
Subsistence Poachers who randomly
Kill, fit a less important role,
Their profit cannot compare,
To syndicates with international flair!
These professionals are sourced
From a military career,
Using weapons and tactics that
Inflict unimaginable pain and fear.
Rhinos are darted from the air,
Without hesitation or human care.
Some Rhinos are found still half alive,
And veterinary surgeons rush to help
Them survive,
But could these same people perhaps
Be involved and accept,
These horrific acts, could they in fact,
Be suspect?
Will Rhinos become extinct,
This is a worrying fear,
Statistics do indicate that this scenario,
Is realistically near!
REPOSTING FROM A POEM 2018 WHEN I JOINED POETRY SOUP
Mama rhino sways slow up Indigo River.
Baby into eager stride for stride and shivers.
Waterbucks nudge tip-toe go downriver.
High grass and baby dance together
A game of play and a chance deliver.
Butterfly flutters hasten thither.
Baby-tired falls asleep standing begins to quiver.

Green Horned Rhino
Have you seen the Green Horned Rhino?
A creature so scarce and so rare.
We think he’s living in Norwich,
Dressed as a Hippo, with curly pink hair
As I was walking in the snow,
I chanced to meet a cold rhino.
It began to sneeze,
Creating quite a breeze:
Now what to do? --I dunno.
Sumatran Rhinos are listed as, critically endangered
and are now classified as, “functionally extinct”
as they are only seen in zoos, for their genes to be preserved
but the death of two subspecies, makes them so distinct
Sumatran Rhinos used to live, on Borneo and Sumatra islands
and are the smallest, of the living Asian Rhinos
These Rhinos have two horns, very unique to these hinterlands
and their long hair relates them to, the ancient Woolly Rhino
Poaching of Rhino horns, are sold on the black market
for medicine and ornaments, that makes them a big target
and the biggest markets, are in China and Vietnam
as the greed of money, is a worldwide human scam
MEETING A RHINO
I was in a 'Rover
Seeing all the sights
An hour from Nairobi
Snapping birds in flight
Then I jumped out in the mud
Gazelle herd thundered by
Took some photos snap snap snap
Then the driver gave a cry
Turned around and saw him
A rhino big and bold
Munching on his giant lunch
I did what I was told
I stood as silent as a mouse
But snapped snapped snapped a bunch
Until the giant rhino
Had finished all his lunch.
He tossed his horn to bid adieu
And turned to walk away
My breath came out in giant gulps---
There’s nothing else to say.
A question we choose to ignore
To where shallow rivers flow
Into the riverbed’s floor
Into the horizon’s glow
What are we to do?
He went where no one should
To where no one knows
He could never see past his nose
Did we follow his tracks?
No, he was taken by truck
Some say to the east
On a aphrodisiac fest
He was the size of an eighteen-wheeler
You’ll find him now only at the dealer
In the wild barely hanging on by a hoof
He's no longer a member of the big five
Where did the rhino go?
Is that him in the zoo?
Hanging out with the who’s who
So that his horn may grow
