Where Did the Rhino Go

A question we choose to ignore
To where shallow rivers flow
Into the riverbed’s floor
Into the horizon’s glow

What are we to do?
He went where no one should
To where no one knows
He could never see past his nose

Did we follow his tracks?
No, he was taken by truck
Some say to the east
On a aphrodisiac fest

He was the size of an eighteen-wheeler
You’ll find him now only at the dealer
In the wild barely hanging on by a hoof
He's no longer a member of the big five

Where did the rhino go?
Is that him in the zoo?
Hanging out with the who’s who
So that his horn may grow

G'day Thabang... The questions in your poem asks for serious answers and action. It's an indictment on humanity's belief that a fallacy could see the extinction of a magnificent animal. Thank you Thabang - Lindsay

Hi Lindsay...I ask myself, what is next...eventually all the animals will be gone...humanity will be completely alone...I foresee slavery all over again becuase the illegal trading will never cease...rgds, Thabang
