INSPIRED SUNSHINE
Sunshine and serenity, a piece of mind upon,
the wings of an eagle, above the great beyond,
far away from the pull, that tugged me to the ground,
and kept me from my family, and left no one around,
that cared about my presence, and used me for my kindness,
so I climbed upon an eagle, and Christ healed me from my blindness,
so I can steer this eagle, and stay closer to a higher power,
who stands by me through the struggle, and taught me not to be a follower,
and inspire grounded angels, and offer them a wing,
upon the greatest bird, an eagle while you sing,
firebird we all know, and wont back down you see,
the point I'm trying to make, is we all can be free,
from the death grip of addiction, that had us feeling tired,
now flying high and so proud, another angel is inspired.
i love the early morning rasp of his voice
the birthmarks and burn scars
midsummer skin
i love the sticky rash of lust
the way a heart ticks until it implodes
the sugar soaked kisses
i do not love the way he smacks my face
the way he pushes too hard
the ways he does not love me kindly
i do not love my swollen cheeks
my bruised hips
my blood
i do not love my blood
i love the touch of innocence in the morning
before i have upset him
when we bask in apologies and ignorance of all our yesterday's
when the whispers are not wasps nests and he grins like greek god
when everything is beautiful except i say stop and he doesn't listen.
everything is beautiful except blood vessels clawing at the surface.
everything is beautiful except trying to scream when you've forgotten how to breathe
"please don't" puts him at ease
"don't touch me" doesn't mean anything
"i love you" tosses the dice
i lick arsenic off collarbone
slice the tongue, gargle blood
say goodnight like it's the last
could be the last
he cracks my bones between boulders
between fists
there is no difference
between matchboxes and kisses
seduction and resistance
him and his father
i feel like the guy that plays the flute
calls the snakes.
he slithers around my body
like intimidation
like he's sizing up the prey
like all those secrets in the wasps nest have been beaten out
swarming
buzzing around my head
like he makes me call him "honey" because he knows i'm drowning in it
and the one stinger i have would change nothing
who strikes first dies first
and i'm feeling courageous
feeling like a death wish
he paints me in blacks and blues.
violent hues.
the canvas colored in control is quite the masterpiece
and she's tired of being sculpted
tired of being the victim at his hands
cold and cracked.
i do not love the aching of nostalgia
the dry empty palms
the fear of hearing his footsteps in the middle of the night
but i love the fresh faced stranger in the mirror
the skin that does not rip itself off
the comfort in silence
in safety
i love sunsets that look like honey and breathing in
knowing i'm not drowning anymore
saying "you will never be a real man"
and knowing
knowing
i have stung him
Fighting to recover is hard and difficult to overcome with disease in the blood stream that intrudes in the body brain cells that we the people struggle with
every day in every way life
Recover
I have no clear recollection at all
That time rescued me from any pain
I know it wasn’t yesterday or a week ago
Because ridged shards of it still remain
They pierce my heart with a razors edge
The sharp edges snagging my soul
Tearing the very delicate fabric of me
All of me gone now, with nothing to show
They say time is an awesome healer
Well that may be true for many things
But for all the tears I’ve shed over you
There is no healing for tears it still brings
I lay quietly in the gathering darkness
I do not care if I live or if I die
Time seems to have stopped moving
Its healing powers clearly just a lie
My soul in tragic self inflicted dispair
Cannot survive much more misery
Something must happen and soon
Or I will become a spec of history
I need to be stronger then this
To find strength buried deep down inside
I will move one foot and then another
And dry up all the tears I have cried
I must get time moving again
It has to happen one way or another
The only way I will ever survive
Is to pray for God to help me recover

Sometimes life may be simple
Especially after you recovered from
A certain sickness
Being bedded too long is dull
Sickness makes you suffer and worry
Sickness is a burden to everyone
You find many things not meaningful
You have to rest for a further journey
You have to regain energy on and off
Not to work for greeds and desires
The devils of your heart
A cup of coffee is wonderful
A chitchat is luxurious
A gathering is excellent
A prayer is heartening warm
A poem is a simple gift
Let's take a short break
To enjoy a simple and leisure day
Before it's too late
There at the eve where October planned her suicide,
l embraced praise and worship hoping to recover all that was lost over the years.
There at the gloom where October groaned to dethrone her grains,
l burned my candle hooting to recover the bloom of my dream.
There at the throne where October struggled to end her rule for the year,
l waited to build my drone for the fears ahead.
There at the nest where October decided to rest her neck,
l ragged to set my quest for the task ahead.
There at the mountain where October feed on fears and drank the tears of distress,
l mounted my fountain of hope and coat ahead.
There at the garden of flowers where October watered her field for the last time,
l planted my seeds of expectation and desires.
There at the season where October reasoned the purpose of her living,
l hallowed the Lord in the eve of halloween.
There at the moment of moments where the fate of October was to be determined,
l pleaded to have the grace to embrace November.

WORD FOR TODAY: RECOVER
From the fall of great men and women, there is a lesson to UNCOVER
They were overwhelmed by challenges; they fell but didn’t RECOVER
Some were disappointed by friends; others were let down by LOVER
Truth is when we fail to let go of the past; ominous signs will HOVER
During one’s low moments, his innate skills, he must now DISCOVER
When you find your passion, stay focused; don’t let anyone SHOVER

Right now im just an out going sarcastic bastard
Trying to live life in a sober fassion
I just got out of jail and Im on my knees askin'
God to bless me with life ever lastin'
But im crashin'
Like Im bangin' my head against a wall
Im sick of being sick in random bathroom stalls
And Im sick of waking up to the heron call
And the cocaine call
And the alcohol
Now Im just sick and tired
Of being sick and tired
And Im just sick and tired
Of makin' my mamma cry and
Im just sick and of tellin' all these lies
And Im just a smart man trying to get wise
My life was in shambles
But then I discovered.
I couldn't get over her
My heart had to recover.
My days were filled with sadness
My life was in ruins.
I couldn't do anything right
I had no idea what I was doing.
The days seemed to get longer
They just didn't end.
Life got so hard without
My soulmate & best friend.
The nights were even worse
I couldn't get any rest.
I missed my wife, with her cover-hogging self
& her sweet caress.
I couldn't concentrate
I had too much heartache.
My heart was hurting too much
It was too much to take.
My eyes were red
From all the crying I had done.
My soul became empty
I withdrew from everyone.
My family reached out to me
But I too far gone.
I contemplated suicide
I had no will to go on.
My children worried about their father.
Why is he acting this way?
Their innocence couldn't comprehend
Why I was in such disaray.
The few friends I had called
& I didn't answer.
This heartache I was dealing with
Was an emotional cancer.
I finally had an epiphany
I knew what I had to do.
I had to get her out of my mind
& come to grips that we were through.
I prayed for understanding
& for inner peace.
The Lord heard my prayers
& this heartache was released.
He gave me a new strength
That I never knew I had.
God made me realize
That my life isn't so bad.
He took away the dark cloud
That had consumed my soul.
He gave me a new way of thinking
Gave me more control.
He took the frown away
That was on my face.
He replaced it with a smile
Because now I live in his grace.
He knew my love for her was real
He knows I'll always love her.
But God's kept me sane
& he's helping my heart recover.
Once when darkness seemed the only escape
I felt right at home
Because I succumbed to the reality of the drug
I felt right at home
Although it became the norm deep down inside I knew it was wrong
I felt right at home
I embraced the sensation because it was so elusive
I felt right at home
Unequivocally I could not differentiate the true from the false
I felt right at home
Daddy why I have asked God from time to time because I did not feel right at home any longer
I was fed up with living a lie so to the drug I said Good Bye
No longer burning meaningful bridges
No longer being talked down from the cliff
No longer riding on a merry-go-round of confusion
I can see the light at the end of the tunnel
Step 1 Step 2 Step 3 I am finally free
Lifting my eyes raising my hands stomping my feet
I am bruising the devil's head
I scanned the wide open sea
Thought about the past
Elated I screamed
Free at last
Free at last
Thank God Almighty I am free at last!
days like today endlessly spiral
and circle back to the hopeless tomorrow.
get lost in the anxious, just sink down with me
don't move until this feeling leaves.
got a whiff of hope in this stale air
you let it sneak in behind you.
drop back into fear, release into the scream
pull me up quick, you're the only one who can recover me.
Hover over my trauma, sharp as a vulture, swoop
Surround old scenarios with an offer to devour
Wipe the memory card of pain I play on loop
Grab my glitches with talon weapon power
Wounds bouncing red announce danger
Jab at, stab, peck out infection, empty of pulse
Rip it, sniff the adrenalin, swallow all sorrow
Pluck eyeball delicate, until blank as dolls'
They blink thanks, hurt healer Hallowed
Wounds open have happiness follow
Latch onto my carcass, alight at cliff side guard
Reptilian talons take off, lift me limp and ripe
Black soil fall apart, fresh organs' harvest
Seasons redefined by your vital swipe
Wounds swept ride a wayward kite
Feather buffer bolstering capable chest convex
Adopts torment, swiftly rids it from intruder
Cleansed, amended by aves benevolence
Oblivious to doubt with bathed bruises
Tandem scourers never marooned
18th April
Empathy ate pain
The rain taps on my roof, tapping thoughts to mind.
In this soggy gray filled day, still much to be grateful for.
I think about the rainbows I have previously seen.
One in the desert, across the dry sandy stretch of land.
Another from the top of a green mountain straight into a cloud, so grand.
I have captured photos of these stunning colorful sights.
To never forget the moments that were once there, to come back.
Like anything in life lost, to discover later, to recover again.
Heidi Sands
You won't know what it's like to heal until you can feel gravity,
Until the cavity in your heart takes skin from your soul and grafts itself anew.
See, once you've had a little taste of trauma, you expect it for every meal, and you keel over in pain when disdain isn't there for comfort.
Anxiety becomes your security and depression your delight, you fight to stay down because nothing else is right.
Nothing else is real.
But one day, you say 'enough' - I'm tougher than this and bliss is where I want to be.
Free and unafraid, justice will be paid as you stare darkness in the eyes and the lies in your head fall away.
You are more than what you have been told. You are bold and unashamed.

We both know the journey never ends
We spend most of our life trying to fend off
What we feel is pretend
You have paved your way, my good friend
You were always in it until the end
Lord, I pray it's never goodbye
As our friendship always soars on high
You put your boots into the wind
I hope your life away starts as free as it began
Since you no longer have to sit and spin
I wish you well my kind friend
I'm glad nothing about you was pretend
Though your journey may take you away
I will pray for God to help you find your way
So our friendship will always be in play
Let's never bend or try to mend
What made us such good friends
A new chapter in our life is about to begin
We both come out of it with a big win
Just makes you want to grin
As we sit back and take it all in
I tend to believe we will both be seeing each other
On the other side of what you're about to discover
I hope you recover all the love you left behind
I will remember your kind soul and how we use to roll
We both know this is a sign
So I respect how you want to walk this line
I know I will catch up with you just around the bend
My good friend until the end
May God go with you into the wind
And keep your life free of sin
My dear sweet friend until the end
