you and i were the 'good kids'
only spoke when spoken to
never picked a fight
didn't color outside the lines

later we learned that they
were sifting through all our art
ascertaining who lay on the
extremities of the bell curve
who might have a troubled home life
     and/or
who might have an aptitude for fine art
... we were somewhere in the middle

fast forward thirty years or so...

we discovered a magic quill
that served as a machete
clearing out the underbrush
of this dense jungle we call
life

we learned to think outside
the quadrilateral parallelogram
and found the outer rim
of that bell curve

we no longer raised our hands
waiting to be called on
we delved deep and found
a singular
phenomenon
inside us -

our voice

Paralleogrammatic

PARALLEOGRAMATIC

Four sober quadrilateral equations
were quartered around a rectangular occasion.
No less than a quadrifarious derivation,
are ever admitted to the annual rectangular without libation!

Dear strong, mysterious Mr. Richter,
I have adored you all semester.

It's all about the way you say "cosign"
and the command you give to busy equations.
You keep those numbers all in line,
as if any one could give dissuasions.

With exponent passion you draw me in,
a mathematician first, then a teacher.
Each number's a friend, a neighbor, a kin.
Each student is a math-munching creature.

You couple denominators, strong and alike,
a prismic marriage of commonality,
then suddenly you divide them like
a Shakespearean tragedy.

Then you flip-flop like common weather,
and in a calm numerical tangent,
you bring those digits back together
like a quadrilateral sonnet.

Your rhombus eyes, like tigers animate
when you say the word "perpendicular."
Could you say you'd ask me for a date,
anywhere logarithmic, but I'm not particular.

Take me away on a coordinate plane,
parallel to a median integer
with stem-and-leaf plot as the terrain,
and a commutative property perimeter.

I can offer admiration and a laugh,
just teach me how to use a protractor.
Of all the variables on a bar graph,
we are the greatest common factor.

Rectangle

I am a very special shape; I have four sides and four lines straight.

Look beyond my words, and see the shape that I am destined to

Be. I'm not just random words drawn out of thin air, I am much

More than that. I am a quadrilateral with four right angles and I

Have two lines of reflectional symmetry and rotational symmetry.

My angles are rectilinear; my sides meet at right angles. You

Learn this at school with your ABC's, practice your studies and

You will see some other fine examples of me.

Consanguinity

The augury of him in Crimea was so
That Ekaterina said she was tired of sandwiches
But I did have black tea, black Latvian bread with her black Ikra near Black Sea
Hundreds of kilometres from Kiev and from Moscow in Odessa where heresy breaches

I beated her wings in no confinement,in no vituperation
She flew flower to flower to no destination
She knew I was a drinking son of pride straightaway
And I apprised me that she was a drunk daughter of arrogance having me in sway

At night on table when Putin came with my rassolnik
And said that he had seen many earthquakes being not born a Japanese geek
I felt in my bedroom her shenanigan moves
A carefully preserved time capsule in grooves

Rubbers burnt got her season
and wheels vulcanized got his prison
Dudley Castle and Kremlin cannot be friends
With Timoshenkos pillaging appetites in trusses and bends

Keep your red gown for the right time Ekaterina
For I have eaten all meats-that of a pig, of a cow, horse and bear
And eschew my emotions like a ballerina
A square,a quadrilateral,a rhombus and a parallelogram are not the same when each buccaneer

Vladimirs have always condescended bloody Mirs of Dagestan
In the duel between Russian charlottes and Turkish harems
The fishing villages of acrimony and Satan
I will not count Ekaterina`s eggs for my child`s Ukrainian mother in tandems

Vocabulary used
Ikra-Russian caviar in poetry`s context its the black caviar or fish eggs.
Rassolnik- is a traditional Russian soup made from pickled cucumbers, pearl barley, and pork or beef kidneys. A vegetarian variant of rassolnik also exists. The dish is known to have existed as far back as the 15th century, when it was called kalya

' Party Under the Square Moon '

========================================================

Crepuscle beamed, descried at the telluric cyan orb
Dusk devoured auric daystar as lambency was absorbed
Sun's verve, twinkle immersed by the lil' murk
Permeate the newfangled burst of wavering lights in the skylark
Stupefied by the wondrous jaw-dropping milieu
Quadrilateral lunar satellite came into being ... it's true
Moonlight in turquoise, then cerulean radiance come forth
Sometimes vermilion, xanthous, amethyst in hue, real ravishing in worth
Nightfall turned into a deluxe, grandiose discotheque
Music of pyrotechnics, symphonized in grotesque
Four-sided night star trip the light fantastic
Made every cyclicity, rhythm, syncopation exotic
What a comely, ecstatic, striking, mind-glued augury
A tour in the out of this world planet, where there's no existing adversary
I am the sculptor, architect and painter of my own exquisite sunset
Twilight's ikon in my mind still in set
Written in words, penned with the mind's eye
Done through the " LIMITLESS " dye.

The Perpendicular X

An unusual thing,
The Perpendicular X,
Just a symbol to most,
Filled with meaning and fortitude.

It tells people in motion,
Judgment is protocol,
Logic and sense, if ignored,
Could lead to a quadrilateral stigma.

To humans in despair,
Hope and righteousness, it possesses,
True, only in the mystical sense,
We know society's smarter than that.

In the world of format,
It's used as additive,
Trying to make something larger than it really is,
Now, is this necessary?

The simple intersection of,
Two indefinite slashes,
Separates the dumb and the smart,
Unfortunately, also the devoted from the ignorant.

Fit For a God

Quadrilateral based structures
four sides triangular leaning in
Each stone block estimated at 2.5 to 15 tons
around 2.3 million in one
Over 118 pyramids now discovered standing
in Egypt on Giza plateau
stretching down the Nile valley
at the edge of the Sahara desert
These include Cheops, Cheprio, Mycerinus, and Sphinx
surrounded by magnificent monuments, palaces, and temples
Initiated by Khufu around 2550 B.C.
built fit for supremacy
Pharaohs and Queens expected to become Gods in after-life
so they were embalmed and mummified
as mummies in preparation for the world
with everything they may need to keep themselves there

Ten Years Later

ten years later
still missing her
i pick the most beautiful flowers
pink and green representation
i erase a small quadrilateral of the world so i can spend some time with you
in those moments, it is so perfectly quiet
in my head, there is not even a hint of a riot
i converse with you in a vibe so still and just reflect
man....ten years later....life itself is just not the same
she made it seem that way despite the inevitable changes
without her i am sometimes lost
without her i am left confused at times not knowing what to do
what gets me through is knowing that she is watching right there with God
i wonder if she is proud of me now instead of disappointed
no matter what the answer may be, my love for her blooms brightly with monumental maturation....

Tank with Goldfish

Sometimes we see a glint of gold or red
emitted sudden as a warning through
the greening water of the old square tank outside,
an evanescent wink from just beneath
the awning of the lolling lily pad.

Within this viridescent bulk of water pushing
against the stark and square formality of fibreglass,
the teasing crimson twinkle
frees our eyes from what had become
the prison of their gaze in which they were held
unblinking by the flat rigidity
of unremitting quadrilateral form.

Once more a gleam of carmine charms our eyes
into the still, green patina of this exotic liquor –
another world, so far removed
from our dull logic of normality.

On Life (For Rene Bennett)

"Loneliness has never earned a day's pay.
What I've learned, first of all, is that loneliness chooses it's own weapons. It
hasno distinguishing marks, and comes in no colors at all. Sometimes, it will
creep up on you, and at other times, it will take a poke at you and stalk off. In
either case, you're left by yourself, holding your stomach, winding itself into
corkscrews.
If happiness is circular, as some people claim, then loneliness is trapezoidal.
With those two parallel lines that never meet and are permanently boxed in. Only
the lonely could identify with the quixotic quadrilateral.
One more thing; loneliness is sexless and ageless. It affects everyone. Like
the panhandler said; "People are crazy. They won't even listen to me. They just
walk away." So I gave him a quarter, and he added it to his handful of change.
Change, but no change. Everything remains the same when you're alone. As
you're standing in someone else's pouring rain, it will hit you: the elemental
distraction at the base of your life is yourself......" written when I was twenty years
old

Ice Cold Lost

so desperate to meet you here
however you do not show
i come back to the same place
grey hairs display my stress
a certain part of me tingles until i come close to climax
my knees beg to buckle, but i remain firm with what little strength i have left
deep within my mind i need you so badly
i am so enamored with my lust for you that my brain cannot connect
i am totally ignorant of the fact that the feeling is not even close to mutual on her end
yet and still i wait in the same place in all seasons
the circle has become a maze craze concave quadrilateral in total darkness
so anxious to see you here....to heavily tight to be freely loose

A Little More

Around the radius of your enduring terrain,
Be not like the kite on the windy day.
The sky eagle claims with feathered hands,
Unlike the quadrilateral crafted on deluded plans.

Pendulum hung on the clock is not breaking away!
It's the psaltery, dancer to the keeper's song.
Tell the dancing leaf on the mango tree
A little menacing wind can end it's spree.

Not everyone has got the lion's heart I know!
Not every glittering now will forever glow.
But focus like the lion upon the prey,
And glee like the farmer on the harvest day.
