When the night was dark
For the moon was hiding
And the stars in the galaxy refused to shine
You came to find me with ebullient vibes
And the dawn of sunrise
You fetched my water when I was thirsty
Feeding my hunger like an angel of mercy
Setting on fire every breath of desire
With ebullient vibes and the dawn of sunrise
Love is the prize when passions rise
That's how I found
In a romantic sound
Deep in my heart
A treasure full of wants
Desires so strong lost for a while
Till you came along
You fetched my water when I was thirsty
Feeding my hunger like an angel of mercy
Setting on fire every breath of desire
With ebullient vibes and the dawn of sunrise
Love is the prize when passions rise
Hosting princely charm
You romanced my form
Stealing me away from ordinary bounds
Healing my feelings with a tip of your crown
And the love you found
You fetched my water when I was thirsty
Feeding my hunger like an angel of mercy
Setting on fire every breath of desire
With ebullient vibes and the dawn of sunrise
Love is the prize when passions rise

HM: Your choice (12) love verse by Brian Strand
Lyrics inspired by the song:
Love Will Keep Us Alive by Eagles
You were never my friend.
My heart would never, ever allow such a small thing.
Soulmate?, maybe...though so much more in the end..
I will give you my heart, only if you promise never to break it.
If the promise is never to be kept, I'll forgive you...
again and again.
For that is what this thing love is, all it ever does, or was.
When you look in the mirror do you see someone worth loving?
Don't you know it lies? Won't you listen to me tell you the truth?
It's about time you knew.
It was always you that was the smart one, you know.
Can you be smart enough to shut up and let me in?
The old hurts will go away. Or maybe they won't, doesn't matter.
I will love the broken you, with all your wonderful hurt, just as much.
Guess what?, you aren't perfect. And you can tell I ain't no carnival prize..
But there's something real, worth holding on to,
I could always see it in your beautiful eyes...
Love Is Our Prize
Love is our prize, for we are true,
Thus beats my heart, so claim your eyes,
When in unison two souls coo
As night romantic blushes skies.
How stars twinkle, moon glistens highs,
When Venus grins, charming our view,
While she affirms, as passions rise;
Love is our prize, for we are true.
For long it’s been, just me and you,
Feeling blissful when dreams surmise:
Our love's real, meant for just few;
Thus beats my heart, so claim your eyes.
We rejoice kinship love implies
As fervid vibes of romance woo,
While hearts echo our cheerful cries
When in unison two souls coo.
Sharing secrets, we barely knew,
Grim past we shed held in disguise
And moving forth, vows we renew,
As night romantic blushes skies.
Love genuine will not surprise,
Hosting harmony, tuned anew,
Ensuring souls strum as allies;
When hearts synchronize, as we do,
Love is our prize.

northwest rocky beaches
waves disguise cache of prizes ~
jellyfish parade
Clams and Gooey Ducks
hide in sandy blanket homes ~
no taste for chowder
hold your breath then dive
Abalone glued on rocks ~
opal sheen of shells
clusters deep purple
swinging from rocks of fool’s gold ~
Muscles hold strong
always on the move
Hermit Crabs – house on their backs ~

Oysters together

maybe hiding pearls
Limpets with strong foot

lucky tickets under stones ~
beach shore lotteries
you planned your race
to run at pace
and win at any cost
but ran too fast
and finished last
so the prize you sought was lost
had you taken time
to the finish line
you might still have your health
and realize
life's greatest prize
is the prize of life itself.
My world a chasm of utter darkness
Dreariness enveloped me like a cloud
Bound by chains in an abandoned fortress
Tormented body - a field freshly plowed
Accomplishments ignored; voice never heard
Wondered why on earth was I even born
Treated like clipped wings of a fallen bird
Ripped to shreds, I could no longer be torn
Unsettling to be taunted by others
When all you do is exemplify love
Why is it so hard to love one another
As commanded by the Savior above
I tried so hard to find favor in their sight
All efforts were unfavorably received
I began to pray and was bathed in light
Chains started falling, my sentence reprieved
God looks at me and sees a worthy prize
The Lord loves all of his children the same
I’m no longer concerned about man’s eyes
Ill-conceived judgments nor secular names
The name of the Lord is a strong tower
His mighty name is worthy to be praised
I thank him for his redemptive power
For being my light on the darkest of days
In times of despair God spoke from above
Through His Word, He counseled and He advised
Keep His commandments - Keep walking in love
I am His, I am loved, and I am a prize!
The Fight, The Prize And Fate
I fought you viciously for my dear life
You that puts dread into long, dark nights
Deep mental cuts were like a sharp knife
Blood gushing forth, horrific sights!
Fought you alone in the midnight hour
Cursed you into deep hell each day
You that cuts down youth's eager flower
Kill all bravely standing in your way!
In the black caverns you cast forth
A chill resides to eat on my bones
Colder than icy wind from the North
Time eating curses uttered in sad tones
Victory over your void I will not gain
For time yields to no earthly power
Yet my fight will remind you yet again
I fought you, fought until the last hour!
Robert J. Lindley, no-date.
Note- a rewrite of my poem written back in 1978
Be young my boy
Don’t rush to grow
The secrets of age
will soon be told
Fish in creeks
Gaze at the sky
Stay young and curious
for a while
Laugh from your belly
Wink and grin
Hit a ball with a stick
you don’t need to win
Dance to the music
in your head
Move here or there
as Simon says
For soon enough
time marches on
That little boy
he does move on
If you are lucky
you will realize
to keep a bit of him
is a precious prize.
In bed looking out my window... (sighs)
up at the moon with leaden eyes
approaching bleak scarlet skies
dawns spell prompt to arise.
Fawn forages prize
roses, surprise
at moms cries,
it shies,
flies.

There once was a silly Billy
Who fancied a certain filly
But horsing around
He suddenly found
She sported a bigger willie
A widow would frequently cry
And then snuggle up to a guy
She'd lick her lip
Undo his zip
And shriek, "Not another small fry!"
My dear friends, bow not to the "father of lies"
He prowls as a lion...only in disguise
Waiting so patiently; hour by hour
Seeking the straying sheep he'll next devour
He licks his vile lips in anticipation
Hungering for the fallen of creation
Dripping as honey, one slathering falsehood
Can slide down as easily as the truth would
But soon in our sickness, we weaken and die
We curse at the heavens as we wonder why
We've eaten of evil for too many years
And fatally deconstruct from our own fears
Let us not give one more days' satisfaction
Instead let us purposely spring into action
We'll tackle that liar with Truth from our Father
And let Satan know that he just needn't bother
Even within a most imperfect world
We're stronger than anything that he can hurl
For weaker is he that would see our joy die
And greater the One who will come, by and by
To take home His children that stand 'til the last
That day, at His feet, our golden crowns we'll cast
As He wraps us up lovingly in His embrace
We shall weep with joy when we meet face to face
So, dear friends, bow not to the "father of lies"
Just fight the good fight, keep your eyes on the prize
Sir prize me
I am a baby
sweet darling

The outer beauty that we see
Is only a façade
A trick used to confuse the mind
Although it seems quite odd
We tend to judge
Those that we see
On outer beauty alone
But what lies inside
The better prize
Should crown our lovers throne
This mortal life we live
Can be so short and sweet
We turn away
And in our haste
It passes instantly
So open up your foolish eyes
Ignorant to what’s inside
So easy to believe a lie
And miss out on the better prize
World Peace will prosper
if prosperity is placed
second to World Peace
